Interaction with Guests
Muffins, tea & coffee will be provided in the morning. Our guests should feel free to come & go as they please since we both work! There is a gazebo in the back that guests are welcome to use at their leisure also. There is a microwave with plastic spoons & forks, along with paper plates, toaster, sharp knife & wine bottle opener, & wine glasses available for your convenience. Lots of privacy!
Our biggest visitor are walkers; men & women walking for health and/or walking their dogs. Our 2nd biggest visitor is the deer in our yard eating our Hosta Plants like it is a salad bar luncheon. Our 3rd visitor are bears...walking around on the street, up in trees, etc. We are located very close(3blks away) to a lovely park that has 2 levels for viewing Lake Superior or for a picnic & a paved walking/jogging path through the Superior Forrest on the Millennium Trail about 3 blks away.
The bus picks up people about 4 blks away and it goes all around Superior, WI and Duluth, MN. We will also let our guests use our bicycles.
Other Things to Note
We have a wonderful sauna and a beautiful gazebo! The gazebo has a a chess game or comfortable furniture to just enjoy the quiet and calming sounds of the trees rustling as the huge evergreens surround our home.
We wouldn't expect any guest to go through our closets or drawers in our main living space. If Guests need to borrow something or wanted first aid items, cold med, toothbrush, etc...we are happy to provide these amenities that may have forgotten at home. A guest can certainly smoke outside but we do not smoke. We do have 2 labrador retrievers FYI in case of allergies. We can not have Guest's pets, who are normally trained, because they like to "mark" their territory & keep having accidents so...we are so sorry but we can't accommodate pets of Guests. Our dogs will not be allowed in your suite(anywhere in your living area) while you are there.
This was our first time staying in Duluth, MN and also with airbnb and it was an experience we will always cherish.
Loren was a perfect host - very welcoming and friendly and their place is extremely clean, cozy and comfortable - just about perfect!
They took care of all our needs - including the Wifi password ;-).
I would totally recommend Diane and Loren's suite to anyone who's visiting Duluth and I look forward to visiting them again in our future visits. :)
Had an absolute wonderful stay! Everything needed was provided and more along with wonderful atmosphere and hosts(sad we didn't get to meet Diane) :)
This was our first experience with Airbnb and Diane was a great host and was very welcoming. She was super fast in responding to my messages, the space was private and the neighborhood was pleasantly quiet. Her dogs are super sweet. The muffins and oatmeal were just the right amount of to get us going in the morning, and we spent a while sitting at the nice snack bar area either chatting or playing games. The basement was very cozy (thanks to the fireplace and the space heater) and we enjoyed using the sauna. Only downside was that my 6'5" fiance found the ceiling was a little low in some parts, but that's not unusual for basements. If we come back to the Twin Ports area, we'll definitely be staying here again!
Diane and Loren are the best hosts anyone could ask for. They left us our favorite drinks, stoked to fire to make sure we'd stay warm, and even got my boyfriend a mini cake to celebrate his birthday!
This was my third time staying at Up North and it always feels like a home away from home. Diane and Loren are so good about providing recommendations for restaurants and entertainment. You can't go wrong with a stay here.
We had a very nice stay at Diane's. She and her husband were both very welcoming and kind. The space was clean and very homey. We enjoyed the comfortable area which was very spacious and included a wood stove and sauna so we really did feel like it was home. We had a great night's sleep on the comfortable bed and we had the privacy we enjoy and yet they were both very amenable to our questions and gave us nice tips on restaurants, etc. The neighborhood was nice and quiet. We would stay there again if in the area.
The first email communication, they made us feel eager to come.all theis pecial notes to help us navigate our time well, from the wifi to the water. We appreciated the privacy we were given, yet enjoyed the questions and interactions Loren and Dianne had with us. The dogs were a plus, and our hosts made sure they were well behaved and not too doggy.
This was my second time staying with Diane and Loren. They are absolutely fantastic and I cannot recommend them enough. The house is fantastic, I love the area they live in and they are the most hospitable people I've ever met. You will not be disappointed if you stay with them.
