AROUND THE AREA
The old bohemian district El Borne has developed into one of most trendy neighborhoods of Barcelona. An overnight stay in an apartment in El Borne turns your stay in Barcelona into a scenic experience.
From the apartment it is very beautiful to walk in the crisscross of small allies of which El Borne has got many, with a lot of cosy bars and terraces, design shops, restaurants, tapas bars, art galleries and museums.
Other things like the Picasso museum in the Calle Montcada, or the church Santa Maria del Mar in the center of this historic district (12th century) with behind it the most famous street of El Borne, the Passeig del Born.

My husband and I just spent 4 nights at the Picasso apartment and we loved it! It gets a lot of sunlight, is very clean, spacious/cozy, and is in the El Born neighborhood (in the Gothic Quarter). The location was awesome! So many great restaurants, shops, Metro station, La Boqueria market, and beach all nearby (within walking distance). It took us awhile to get over jet lag, so it was nice to have a comfortable bed and apartment to rest in. The washer/dryer and kitchen also came in handy. Lis was really easy to work with and checking in with Zine was also easy. We wished we could have extended our stay here. Highly recommend this place and would definitely return!
On a side note - the apartment is up 4 flights of stairs. It was good exercise after our big meals but something to think about if you are not an active person. I am 7 months pregnant and was able to manage it fine but did have to take some breaks at times :)
A refaire !
It is was a perfect location, central and easy to travel to all the highlights. The apartment itself was spacious, well presented and clean. A minor consideration are the stairs and carrying your luggage up. There was a bit of sewage smell coming from the bathroom, especially when you return home from a day's exploring. Other than that the whole experience was enjoyable.
When it rains, or after few days of the rain, it happens that can be sometimes a bit of smell in the bathroom, not always but if happens, it is because the pipes in the old city in Barcelona are very old. I always make sure that it is air freshener, sorry it was about to finish when you were there. It has been replaced already. To all future guests please note that with the air freshener it is fine in case that there will be any smell because of the rain. As you can see, if you read all my reviews, this is the only time someone experience that. Sorry Michael, and glad you enjoyed your stay.
Loved this apartment! Was in a great location, on a quieter street in Barcelona. Very close to all the main attractions and the beach! Very clean and comfortable, would definitely stay here again on my next visit!
The location of the apartment is perfect. You are right in the middle of restaurants, shops, cafes, and of course right next to the Picasso museum. The apartment has everything we needed and we couldn't have been happier with our choice. Comfortable bed, great bathroom, and very clean and organized. I recommend the apartment to anyone visiting Barcelona.
Apartment was in an ideal location in El Born, a very trendy area, very safe, and within walking distance of everywhere, 10 mins to Las Ramblas, 10 mins to beach. Zine was waiting for us when we arrived.
The apartment was very clean, spacious, comfortable bed, flat screen tv, good Wifi with a brilliant power shower. No lift, but the stairs to 4th floor was manageable. It was very quiet during the week, but noticed the noise levels at the weekend. In hindsight, the towels were not enough, and we should have arranged additional. It is beside the Picasso Museum, which was signposted all around the city, so very handy for finding our way back. El Born is full of boutiques of jewellery, clothes, shoes etc and there are limited touristy shops.
We got a taxi from the airport, and we were charged 42 Euros, and on return it was only 27. First Taxi driver added extra charge of 20 Euros, when it should be a minimum 20 Euro fare, so be mindful of that!!
In the area, we enjoyed the excellent tapas in Tapeo ( especially the Chumichurri steak and the burger with foie grais!), just down from the Picasso museum. We never got to Xampanyet, as it was always packed, so best to go at 7pm when it opens. We enjoyed a great lunch n Cuines, the restaurant beside Santa Caterina food market (Good for food purchases, nice hams, cheese, and not as touristy as La Boqueria ), and also Alsur Cafe. We enjoyed drinks in Numero Neuve a few nights and is close by, and the staff were very welcoming with great cocktails. The food market La Boqueria on Las Ramblas is worth a visit, and options for food . Barceloneta is also well worth a trip for a night out. We ate at El Suquet de l'Almirall on the main promenade. It is mainly a seafood restaraunt and the seafood was extremely fresh and tasty. They had recently changed the menus here and they were not translated to English however the waiter spent some time with us translating the menu and offered very good recommendations. The Iberian ham here was also delightful.
We did the Barcelona City Tour over two days, which was a good way to see all of the city. It would have been too much to do in one day. Book tickets for Sagrada Familia in advance (Long Queues) and for Nou Camp, or bring credit card for Express machines, the cash queue very long! Both worth a visit, and on the bus tour.
We would highly recommend the apartment to stay in, as its in a great location and the apartment has everything you could possibly need.
