Our cozy one bedroom apartment is situated in our Kimurimuri Villa next to one of Zanzibar's most beautiful palm fringed beaches. It's the perfect place for nature lovers who want to inhale Zanzibar's beauty and hospitality outside the 'standard' hotel walls but not miss out on comfort. We are a small local family business and will help you experiencing the real Zanzibar. Pongwe is one of the last remaining authentic fishing villages with very few resorts/lodges. It's very safe and not crowded.
The space
The cozy one bedroom apartment offers a living area with scenic views over the whole beach bay, a fully equipped kitchen in the second floor and one en suite bedroom (with tailor made king size beds, mosquito nets, air conditioning and ceiling fans) in the ground floor with terrace leading into the lush garden with pool. The apartment sleeps 2-3 people. We have put specific measures in place to ensure the safety of our employees and our guests. On a daily basis, we are working to ensure that we meet the latest guidance on hygiene and cleaning.
The Kimurimuri Villa features in total three separate apartments. Thus, facilities will have to be shared with fellow guests. However, the property is very private and spacious.
Our lush tropical garden invites guests to relax and to do simply nothing. We have lots of hammocks and swings that allow you to watch the turquoise tides of the Indian Ocean, the swaying coconut trees and the beautiful butterflies while listening to the humming sounds of the many colorful birds.
Our deep water pool is an excellent place to have a dip to cool down, relax with family, or simply unwind in the peaceful surroundings.
Our Kimurimuri garden also features a spacious outdoor area for barbecuing, dining and socializing.

The only ATM's on the island are in the capital city Stonetown.
Money can be changed in the neighbouring village.
There is no supermarket in Pongwe. Good supermarkets are in the neighboring town where one will find pretty much everything needed. We will support you with the shopping.
Our serene location requires to look after the environment. Water is a precious resource that we need to buy by truck and bring to the house. Electricity is a privilege in this part of the island. Our guests need to respect and understand this and help us to protect this beautiful island and do not waste fresh water and electricity.

Pongwe village is a sleepy village which has been less affected by tourism than many of the other Zanzibar beaches. The local population are still warm and friendly and this attracts many guests to return to this corner of Zanzibar year on year.
The beach is very tranquil beside the calm blue waters of the Indian Ocean. It's the longest coconut fringed beach in Zanzibar. The beach is perfect for long walks and swims. The whole beach is protected by an offshore reef which keeps the inner waters calm and safe. Be aware of strong tides. Water levels will be the highest around new and full moon.
