Nice Little Room & Free Ferry Ride

Apartment - Private room · Richmond Terrace, Staten Island, NY 10301, United States

Enjoy the little cozy room in our German-Austrian home in New York. The free 25 minute ferry ride brings you directly to downtown Manhattan. Battery Park, Wall Street and the World Trade Center are just minutes from the Manhattan ferry terminal.

The Space

Just a 25 minutes ferry ride from Downtown Manhattan.

Enjoy your private little guest room with a bunk bed, perfect for 2, in a clean and safe neighborhood on Staten Island. The bathroom as well as other rooms are shared with the 2 German-Austrian hosts and 2 cats.
So feel free to contact us in english or german.

In the summer months the room is air conditioned and there is also a fan on the ceiling for a nice little breeze. The common rooms like living room, bath room and kitchen can certainly be used by our guests as well as the WiFi. Please also feel free to store your own drinks and food in the fridge and to prepare your own meals like for breakfast or dinner.

Max's Delicatessen, 3 houses down the street has a little bit of everything. Almost everything. So if you want some chips, a cold beer or something like that, he's the man.

In about 10 minutes you can easily walk to the Staten Island Ferry terminal or take the bus with a bus station directly in front of the house.

The (24 hour/7 days a week) free Staten Island Ferry is a great romantic commute between Downtown Manhattan and the apartment, which is located directly at the waterfront of Staten Island. So you can do what thousands of tourists can only do once while visiting New York City. Pass the Statue of Liberty, sailing boats and cruise ships like Queen Mary 2 on your commute to Manhattan. Compare that to a subway ride!

The ferry is operated around the clock, every day of the year. During the day it departs every 30 minutes, during rush hour every 15 minutes and at night every hour.

Arriving in Manhattan you are at Battery Park, just as you leave the ferry terminal. Some walking minutes away, you find the Wall Street Bull and also the World Trade Center is in walking distance.

To go to Times Square, Central Park or Empire State Building, just take the subway which is located at the exit of the ferry terminal. Take the 1 Train or the R train uptown.

Additional Services:
Depending on availability, you can also
- rent one of our bikes to browse the city or
- request an airport pick-up or drop-off (ask for the price, it varies depending on the airport).

For airport pick-up/drop-off just send us a message with your FLIGHT NUMBER so we can make sure to catch the right plane at the right time.

Come and stay with us and enjoy the gorgeous view of the skyline of Downtown Manhattan. See the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty and the World Trade Center right from the front of our house.

Our Mission:
To provide young travelers such as startup founders and students with an affordable, clean, safe, comfortable and contemporary place to stay. Located within a reasonable distance to the city center.
We want to proof that a cozy and attractive place to stay doesn't need to cost a couple of hundreds a night.

Guest Access

Guests have access to all common rooms. Only the master bedroom is private.

Interaction with Guests

Whenever it is possible we give our guests a little tour through the apartment to explain everything. Guests are welcome to ask for shopping and restaurant tips and travel info. Unfortunately we don't have a chance to show people around.

The Neighborhood

Definitely the most spectacular thing about our neighborhood is the view and the maritime atmosphere. See the fantastic skyline of downtown Manhattan, cruise ships and container ships while you walk home from the ferry.

Getting around

The Staten Island Ferry is free and a very convenient way to commute to Manhattan. Once arrived in Manhattan you have direct access to the subway lines 1 and R when you exit the ferry terminal. In walking distance there is also the free downtown connection bus and the subway lines 4,5 and 6.

  • Hans&Sandra are very friendly and nice people, it can't describe by few words. Our 1st experience with AIRBNB by thanks to Hans&Sandra was excellent. It was our famous week in the NY... never forget. Their flat we can recommend. Once more THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING!

  • A super nice place very central on Staten Island. If we have the chance we would like to stay there again. The apartment was cozy, our room was neat and clean and we had the opportunity to use the kitchen for breakfast which was really nice!

  • Its a very nice room in a lovely apartment with the great view. Location is very convenient - just a short walk from the ferry.

  • I, unfortunately, did not have the pleasure of meeting Hans and Sandra as they were out for the week. Instead, I met their neighbor, Felipe at 3 am in the morning. Haha. Throughout my trip, Hans and Felipe were both very responsive. I was scheduled to arrive NYC via Amtrak at 8 pm but was delayed after the train had struck a car. He apartment itself is cozy, modern, and has a great view of manhattan. Would recommend without hesitation.

  • We absolutely loved our stay at Hans & Sandras. Infact it was our favourite airbnb experience we've ever had. Not only was the apartment lovely, Hans & Sandra were equally as lovely and informative and so was the breakfast! We felt really at ease and found it easy to get about, the Staten Island ferry was a pleasure to take every day and very very easy to get to from the house & also from Manhattan. The room itself was also lovely and it had everything we needed, we really couldn't have asked for more! Thanks again guys!!

About
We are German-Austrian entrepreneurs living with our two cats in the New York City borough Staten Island. Sandra works as an automotive engineer for a supplier in the automotive industry. While being engaged in his company doing internet business in Hamburg, Germany and the small food business in New York at the same time, Hans has figured out that airbnb is a great way to stay on a budget and an even greater way to meet awesome people. That led to our new venture to also host guests from around the world in our homes. To get to know different cultures, to try new dishes and of course to provide our guests with a safe and clean place to stay, while visiting the city. So actually my wife and I are using airbnb both ways. As hosts and as guests wherever we need a place to stay and where we want to experience the real life. Special information for guests travelling from Munich and Hamburg: Augustiner and Astra is always appreciated.
