Max's Delicatessen, 3 houses down the street has a little bit of everything. Almost everything. So if you want some chips, a cold beer or something like that, he's the man.
In about 10 minutes you can easily walk to the Staten Island Ferry terminal or take the bus with a bus station directly in front of the house.
The (24 hour/7 days a week) free Staten Island Ferry is a great romantic commute between Downtown Manhattan and the apartment, which is located directly at the waterfront of Staten Island. So you can do what thousands of tourists can only do once while visiting New York City. Pass the Statue of Liberty, sailing boats and cruise ships like Queen Mary 2 on your commute to Manhattan. Compare that to a subway ride!
The ferry is operated around the clock, every day of the year. During the day it departs every 30 minutes, during rush hour every 15 minutes and at night every hour.
Arriving in Manhattan you are at Battery Park, just as you leave the ferry terminal. Some walking minutes away, you find the Wall Street Bull and also the World Trade Center is in walking distance.
To go to Times Square, Central Park or Empire State Building, just take the subway which is located at the exit of the ferry terminal. Take the 1 Train or the R train uptown.
Depending on availability, you can also
- rent one of our bikes to browse the city or
- request an airport pick-up or drop-off (ask for the price, it varies depending on the airport).
For airport pick-up/drop-off just send us a message with your FLIGHT NUMBER so we can make sure to catch the right plane at the right time.
Come and stay with us and enjoy the gorgeous view of the skyline of Downtown Manhattan. See the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty and the World Trade Center right from the front of our house.
To provide young travelers such as startup founders and students with an affordable, clean, safe, comfortable and contemporary place to stay. Located within a reasonable distance to the city center.
We want to proof that a cozy and attractive place to stay doesn't need to cost a couple of hundreds a night.
Guests have access to all common rooms. Only the master bedroom is private.
Whenever it is possible we give our guests a little tour through the apartment to explain everything. Guests are welcome to ask for shopping and restaurant tips and travel info. Unfortunately we don't have a chance to show people around.
Definitely the most spectacular thing about our neighborhood is the view and the maritime atmosphere. See the fantastic skyline of downtown Manhattan, cruise ships and container ships while you walk home from the ferry.
The Staten Island Ferry is free and a very convenient way to commute to Manhattan. Once arrived in Manhattan you have direct access to the subway lines 1 and R when you exit the ferry terminal. In walking distance there is also the free downtown connection bus and the subway lines 4,5 and 6.
Its a very nice room in a lovely apartment with the great view. Location is very convenient - just a short walk from the ferry.
I, unfortunately, did not have the pleasure of meeting Hans and Sandra as they were out for the week. Instead, I met their neighbor, Felipe at 3 am in the morning. Haha. Throughout my trip, Hans and Felipe were both very responsive. I was scheduled to arrive NYC via Amtrak at 8 pm but was delayed after the train had struck a car. He apartment itself is cozy, modern, and has a great view of manhattan. Would recommend without hesitation.
Die Unterkunft hat unsere Erwartungen (website hidden) war wirklich alles top. Hans war ein sehr angenehmer und unterhaltsamer Gastgeber. Falls wir nochmal in New York zu gast sind, würden wir gerne wieder kommen. :-)
My friend & I stayed at Hans &Sandra place for a night and had great experience. Hans was really nice and very flexible. I would definately stay with them in future.
We absolutely loved our stay at Hans & Sandras. Infact it was our favourite airbnb experience we've ever had. Not only was the apartment lovely, Hans & Sandra were equally as lovely and informative and so was the breakfast! We felt really at ease and found it easy to get about, the Staten Island ferry was a pleasure to take every day and very very easy to get to from the house & also from Manhattan. The room itself was also lovely and it had everything we needed, we really couldn't have asked for more! Thanks again guys!!
Immer wieder gerne =)
My boyfriend and I stayed with Sandra and Hans. And it was AMAZING! Both are so nice, friendly and hospitable people.
After 5 minutes we already felt being at home.
The room was cozy and the beds comfortable. Everything was super clean and tidy. Furthermore they prepared maps and brochures of New York for us so we had an easy start with exploring the city.
In the mornings they prepared a delicious breakfast for us and Hans even offered us his selfmade 'Franz Brötchen' which were so good. And on top of the mornings was the view out of the living room on the skyline of Manhattan.
The location of the apartment was great because you they live 5m from the next bus stop which connects you to the staten Island Ferry. You can also walk to the ferry which takes about 10 minutes. It takes about 25 to 30 minutes with the ferry to Manhatten but you enjoy every minute of it because you have a breathtaking view on Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty.
And after a long day in Manhattan you will definitely enjoy the relaxing ride home to Staten Island.
So all in one I recommend this accommodation to everybody!
Und jetzt noch auf deutsch:
Alles super Leute!
Die Unterkunft ist auf jeden Fall empfehlenswert!
Hans and Sandra were the perfect hosts. The apartment is quiet charming with a peacefulness to it - perfect stay the night before the ING marathon!!
Sandra and Hans were great hosts. Sandra had to leave for work so we didn't see her much. Hans was very friendly and had some awesome tips and hints for us. He always helped us out and was keen for a chat. We couldn't imagine a better host.
The flat was very comfi and we made us self a home. You can enjoy a great view on Manhattan's skyline from the front porch.
Staten Island was perfect for us. The free ferry took us several times to Manhattan and we said hello to the Statue of Liberty!
We totally recommend Hans and Sandra's place.
