About This Listing
Situated in the heart of the Old Town, in a lively, authentic quartier, a maison de ville Arlesienne for holiday rental all year round. In a quiet, local neighbourhood.
The street is residential, and the house is a typical Arles house which is on several floors with stairs leading up to each. The style is no fuss simple, but comfortable.
On the ground floor you have the kitchen/dining room (washing machine, oven), then stairs lead up to the basic bathroom, and the living room, which has a large fold out bed/couch. Upstairs you have a bedroom (double bed) and also a 'box room' (double bed) which is open to a skylight in the roof. This room perfect for those who love the gentle morning light!
Ideally situated 2 mins on foot from the Roman Arena and Amphitheatre. Close to Place Voltaire (coffee and croissants in the square), the railway station, cafés, supermarkets and restaurants.
Stay in the heart of Arles but without the noise of festivities or crowds after a day's sightseeing.
Arles is a great location to base yourself for a few days' sightseeing around the South of France.
We live close to the property and can help you with recommendations for parking, restaurants, winebars, shops, services and where to buy the best cheese at the market...we speak English and French.
**This is a typical Arlesienne house so that means lots of stairs. Kids are fine (generations of Arlesians have grown up in these houses!!) if care is taken, but not recommended for people with mobility issues.
**We supply dishwashing liquid, cleaning products, tea, coffee, salt, pepper... but we do NOT supply shampoo or handsoap etc!
** Please note a 7 euro per bed one time charge for sheets and towels. Some guests prefer to bring their own.
It's a "quartier populaire" so it is ordinary residents...
Close to train station (5 mins on foot)
By car- there is no parking at the house, but as it is a quiet street you can park out the front and unload. There is free public parking close by on Bld Emile Combs or at the end of Rue Portagnel.
Please do not smoke (the ancient stone walls absorb the odours)
From Jul 11 - Sep 5, 2015 the minimum stay is 7 nights.
This was an ideal place to stay, a hidden treasure, in a quiet part of Arles. Cat and Richard have renovated the home with modern conveniences while keeping the charm of the old city. We loved the narrow staircase and exposed stone and block inside. The location was perfect for our family. We were a short walk from the supermarket, the river, restaurants, and historic sites like the coliseum. But the place is tucked away from tourists and noise. Cat and Richard are friendly and very helpful, taking time to get us oriented and settled in; they live close by if we had needed anything. It was just the most lovely place to have a holiday in the charming historic town of Arles!
Super séjour grâce à l'appart de Cat et Richard ! Le logement est très bien placé et les hôtes sont très disponibles. Chaudement recommandé !
Cat's apartment is centrally located in Arles & is very close to most of the major attractions. Our stay was for 3 nights & the apartment had sufficient facilities & equipment to meet our needs. Host was very flexible in meeting arrangements - we had to change our arrival time at short notice & Cat was able to accommodate the late change. Cat was also prepared to give us a good overview of local attractions & things to do & see in the area. Apartment is over 3 levels & may not suit elderly visitors due to the number of stairs.
The hosts were very nice and always available to help. The house was spotless and well kept. It is also is a great location (amphitheatre, shops, restos, and the Saturday market are all very close). Wifi and hot water worked well. There is a smell of moisture in the house (like a basement) but I did NOT see any mold. We left the windows open to help with this. I would stay here again. Thanks Cat and Richard!
