Situated in the heart of the Old Town, (email hidden)ly, authentic quartier, a maison de ville Arlesienne for holiday rental all year round. In a quiet, local neighbourhood.
The street is residential, and the house is a typical Arles house which is on several floors with stairs leading up to each. The style is no fuss simple, but comfortable.
On the ground floor you have the kitchen/dining room (washing machine, oven), then stairs lead up to the basic bathroom, and the living room, which has a large fold out bed/couch. Upstairs you have a bedroom (double bed) and also a 'box room' (double bed) which is open to a skylight in the roof.
Ideally situated 2 mins on foot from the Roman Arena and Amphitheatre. Close to Place Voltaire (coffee and croissants in the square), the railway station, cafés, supermarkets and restaurants.
Stay in the heart of Arles but without the noise of festivities or crowds after a day's sightseeing.
Arles is a great location to base yourself for a few days' sightseeing around the South of France.
We live close to the property and can help you with recommendations for parking, restaurants, winebars, shops, services and where to buy the best cheese at the market...we speak English and French.
**This is a typical Arlesienne house so that means lots of stairs. Kids are fine (generations of Arlesians have grown up in these houses!!) if care is taken, but not recommended for people with mobility issues.
**We supply dishwashing liquid, cleaning products, tea, coffee, salt, pepper... but we do NOT supply shampoo or handsoap etc!
** Please note a 7 euro per bed one time charge for sheets and towels. Some guests prefer to bring their own.
It's a "quartier populaire" so it is ordinary residents...on a quiet street.
We loved our stay in Cat's home. She was incredibly kind to us and spent a lot of time showing us around the place and giving us advice about places to visit and local restaurants. The home was very spacious and comfortable, with a cool downstairs floor and a great kitchen. We really appreciated having the washing machine.
Soggiorno piacevole e buona accoglienza; la casa è' tuttavia risultata più vecchia di quello che appariva nelle foto ed anche un po' umida. Bagno piccolo e vetusto.
Ah yes, the bathroom is certainly small. I have taken care to note that the style of the house is simple but functional!
It certainly is an old house, perhaps three hundred years old or more? With its charms and faults, it is still pretty characteristic of the authentic Arles family houses...
Cat was wonderfully gracious, shared great ideas for activities for kids, and walked us to the market on Saturday morning. The place was great, right in the middle of the old town, a few minutes walk to cafes, restaurants, etc. Our favorites places in Arles were the new Van Gogh foundation, an amazing morrocan restaurant near the cinema/hammam on the Rhone river, and Petit Naples for fabulous pizza. A very nice stay in Provence.
We enjoyed our time in this delightful three-story stone house. With its modern kitchen, comfortable double bed (one of two, plus the sofa bed), and real, wooden furniture, this is a tremendous value among Airbnb offerings. The house is central to the train station (10 minutes' walk), the Amphitheatre (5 minutes), and the Hertz rental car office (7 minutes), Monoprix and bank (6 minutes). Our hosts speak perfect English, as they hail from Britain and Australia, as well as fluent French. This was extremely helpful at times. They were available by phone for occasional questions and gave us some restaurant suggestions.
As guests, we like to respect our Airbnb hosts more like "landlords", and NOT treat them as if they were concierge services, because, after all, we are renting an apartment, not a hotel room, and it isn't fair to lean on our hosts too much because we are already getting a great deal. But we had a personal health urgency and when we called Cat and Richard for advice, they helped us far more than we could have asked. Richard and Cat checked in the next day to see how we were doing. Wow!
Some reviewers have mentioned the stairs as a minus but we really liked the three floors as a plus. The top two bedrooms are above the kitchen (lowest floor) and bathroom (next floor), and that means they enjoy peaceful quiet and isolation. We really began to appreciate this when Don came looking for me and found me relaxing on the couch reading a novel in the middle-floor living room! The three floors make this feel like a spacious home with separation of areas from noise and bustle. You can really get away for some quiet time, naps, email, journaling, in one of the upper floors.
There is so much to do in Arles and neighboring areas (Nimes, Aix, Avignon, Orange, Nice, Camargue ...) and they are all about a 30-minute train ride. Recommended stay - 5 nights minimum! We love this home.
We had a very good time staying at Cat's house in Arles. It was close to the town center and so very convenient for everything and we could walk everywhere. The house is quite old and typical of houses in that area in that they are tall and narrow, which was quite charming and very unusual for us Americans. The house had everything we needed and it was very easy to get the key etc. Cat and Richard were very helpful in showing us where to park and everything we needed to know. It was a great stay and I would highly recommend it to anyone.
A really sweet and practical little house with everything you could wish for - I particularly appreciated the large, well equipped kitchen. It's in an ideal location just a few minute's walk from the town centre and its excellent twice weekly market, and the house is cosy and has a good wi fi connection. Cat and Richard couldn't have been more friendly and helpful - I absolutely loved my stay here and would recommend this place without hesitation to anyone!! Can't wait to go back!
This house in Arles is very reasonably priced and Richard and Cat were very responsive. We were able to walk everywhere and there was a free car park just down the road. While many houses probably have 3 floors and there's lots of running up and down, which is no problem, these steps are very uneven and I would only suggest the house for guests who are very sure on their feet. It's not a place for children. The location was close to the Arena so that made it easy to get our bearings and get around.
Cat and her husband were very welcoming. Their apartment was at once unique and ideally suited to our needs. The kitchen was great! We found everything we could have needed within walking distance and parking was nearby and readily available. A great stay overall.
Our experience in Cat's place couldn't be better. The house is comfortable (we don't mind about stairs!) and even though we spent there 3 cold and windy days, we were'nt cold at all!
Cat is a very friendly woman, who tried to make things as easy as possible. She gave us practical tips and advices.
¡¡¡I would deeply recomend you these place and this city!!!!
Cat is a warm hearted woman with a great house in Arles. We found the house just as lovely as the city, with the kind comfort we wanted. Everything in Arles is close by, it's a short but windling walk wherever you want to go. A very quiet house, which for us was a surprise bonus! She helped us in every possible way, and we want to say thank you very much for your hospitality.
