About this listing
Hi there! I am excited to be renting a large, private room in my 2-bedroom apartment on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, New York City. The apartment is a 2-bedroom with the rooms on opposite sides, so there is plenty of privacy. The bedroom for rent is bright, airy, and has access to a fire escape (for anyone who smokes...). The kitchen (and "bar") is fully equipped (and almost always fully stocked) and you are more than welcome to use anything you find to cook yourself a wonderful dinner or just to grab coffee on your way out for sightseeing.
I am a very easy-going bartender in the city. I love meeting new people and consider myself a sort of "ambassador" of my city. I have lived here for nearly 3 years - long enough to have some insight, but still new enough to enjoy the sights and offer any advice to travelers. I work (email hidden) in the neighborhood, so stop in a grab a drink during your stay.
The neighborhood is great - tons of things to do but still on a quiet block so you can relax after a long day of sightseeing. Below are just a few of the many sights to see nearby my apartment:
-2 blocks from Central Park
-1 block from St. John's Cathedral
-Apollo Theatre in Harlem
-New York Ballet
These are just a few of the many sights that are all either within walking distance or only a few subway stops. I am located 2 blocks away from the 1, B, and C trains which all connect to express lines making it very easy to get anywhere in the city.
I can't wait to hear from you and am happy to answer any questions about the apartment or neighborhood, or New York in general!
I am a fairly laid back person and am pretty open to a lot of things. That being said, I just ask that you use common sense and courtesy when staying in my apartment.
*I do not mind if you smoke while staying here, but please step out onto the fire escape, which is easily accessible from your bedroom.
We had a very nice stay in NY. The Apartment is colorful and bright. The location is central and near to the central park. Emily was very friendly, helping us immediately when we got a problem. A good choice!
Emily und ihr Appartment können wir nur weiterempfehlen. Super Ausgangslage, um New York zu erkunden, alles sauber und super eingerichtet. Emily ist wohl einer der herzlichsten Menschen, die es gibt.
Super Apartment in guter Lage. Sehr schön eingerichtet, man fühlt sich wie ein New Yorker. Emily war als Gastgeberin wirklich unkompliziert und super nett! Würden jederzeit wiederkommen.
The place lived up to its honest description. And it's located in a cool neighborhood near Central Park. You can walk to the Guggenheim. The subway is also close and there are many convenience stores and eateries nearby. Emily's place is very sweetly decorated. She is friendly and hospitable. It really does get noisy from the street below - being summer we had to keep the windows open as it would have been too hot otherwise. But overall we enjoyed our stay.
My sister and I stayed with Emily for three nights. Her apartment is at an awesome location. Within walkingg distance to the subway and a lot of restaurants , and of course the central park. Emily was a great host. She is very friendly and is always willing to help out if you have questions. Btw , for all Seinfeld fans , Tom's diner is only a few blocks away :) thank you Emily for letting us stay with you.
We enjoyed our time in New York staying with Emily. The location is very convenient to public transport, and local restaurants and shops. We had no troubles feeling at home, and this was an good introduction to life in busy suburbia without the cushioning influence of a large hotel. Emily is a lovely host who made us feel welcome.

About the Host, Emily
Hey there! I am Emily and I have been living in New York for nearly 5 years. I am from Memphis, Tennessee so I love all things Southern (whiskey, whisky, bourbon...). I think being from another area of the country also allows me to open my mind to this crazy city I live in and appreciate all the little things.
I am an events coordinator for 3 restaurants in the city and have big love for the food industry. I can help you find the best restaurants to eat while you're here - just ask!
I love to travel, but because I live in (as my mother often reminds me) "the world's most expensive city," I don't get to as much as I'd like. I love airbnb because it offers me the chance to meet you lovely people so at least if I'm not traveling, I can live vicariously through you.
