Hi there! I am excited to be renting a large, private room in my 2-bedroom apartment on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, New York City. The apartment is a 2-bedroom with the rooms on opposite sides, so there is plenty of privacy. The bedroom for rent is bright, airy, and has access to a fire escape (for anyone who smokes...). The kitchen (and "bar") is fully equipped (and almost always fully stocked) and you are more than welcome to use anything you find to cook yourself a wonderful dinner or just to grab coffee on your way out for sightseeing.
I am a very easy-going bartender in the city. I love meeting new people and consider myself a sort of "ambassador" of my city. I have lived here for nearly 3 years - long enough to have some insight, but still new enough to enjoy the sights and offer any advice to travelers. I work (email hidden) in the neighborhood, so stop in a grab a drink during your stay.
The neighborhood is great - tons of things to do but still on a quiet block so you can relax after a long day of sightseeing. Below are just a few of the many sights to see nearby my apartment:
-2 blocks from Central Park
-1 block from St. John's Cathedral
-Apollo Theatre in Harlem
-New York Ballet
These are just a few of the many sights that are all either within walking distance or only a few subway stops. I am located 2 blocks away from the 1, B, and C trains which all connect to express lines making it very easy to get anywhere in the city.
I can't wait to hear from you and am happy to answer any questions about the apartment or neighborhood, or New York in general!
I am a fairly laid back person and am pretty open to a lot of things. That being said, I just ask that you use common sense and courtesy when staying in my apartment.
*I do not mind if you smoke while staying here, but please step out onto the fire escape, which is easily accessible from your bedroom.
Staying at Emily's place was great! The space was clean and comfortable and the Upper West Side location was perfect for getting around New York. Emily was very friendly and accommodating and was prompt in her replies when we had any questions and was always lovely to chat the few times we saw her. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting to experience this great city as it makes the perfect base for days out exploring.
Our stay at Emily's was very good.
The apartment is really nice and cozy, you'll feel as you were at your place!
Emily is very friendly, welcoming and moreover she's an awesome cook (just in case you get the chance of tasting one of her home-baked cakes!) :-)
If you decide to stay at her place, take the time to read her helpful advice, hand-written on the little book on the night table!
Emily was wonderful! She was so accommodating and welcoming to me and my husband, making sure our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. She was so helpful and gave us advice for venturing around the city. Her apartment is cozy and inviting and in an excellent location, close to public transportation. We really enjoyed our time there!
Emily was the perfect airbnb host! She has thought of everything! Emily is lovely and I felt extremely welcome in her home. Emily's place is ideally located on the upper west side and is very close to contral park.
Emily is awesome person and host! Apartment is great and exactly like on photos. Close to subway, bus stops and Central Park. Strongly recommend.
Emily, thank you for accommodation! Will totally visit NYC again :)
Our stay in NYC at Emily's apartment was wonderful! One friend and I stayed for three nights, and we had a great time. Emily was there to greet us (with biscuits!) when we got in, and she explained things about her apartment, the neighborhood, easy transportation, and even gave us some recommendations for lunch! We didn't see her much the rest of the trip because we were busy traversing NYC, but we felt very comfortable in the apartment. The apartment itself is exactly as pictured, and very cute. The neighborhood was also great and felt safe for two twenty-year old women. It was very close to two metro stops, making it easy to get anywhere we wanted, and the bus to LaGuardia was very simple! Although things have changed so you need to buy a ticket before you get on the bus. Overall we had a great experience.
My mom and I stayed with Emily for a week. We found Emily to be very friendly and easy-going and we felt comfortable staying at her place. We actually only saw Emily on two occasions (first day and briefly the next morning) so it was like having our own place! Her place was decorated super cute - mid-century modern. She also gave us recommendations on things to do/restaurants and sent us off with some delicious scones and pretzels from her work. Location wise, she is very close to two subway stations so very convenient. A positive experience overall.

Hey there! I am Emily and I have been living in New York for nearly 4 years. I am from Memphis, Tennessee so I love all things Southern (whiskey, whisky, bourbon...). I think being from another area of the country also allows me to open my mind to this crazy city I live in and appreciate all the little things.
I am an events coordinator for 3 restaurants in the city and have big love for the food industry. I can help you find the best restaurants to eat while you're here - just ask!
I love to travel, but because I live in (as my mother often reminds me) "the world's most expensive city," I don't get to as much as I'd like. I love airbnb because it offers me the chance to meet you lovely people so at least if I'm not traveling, I can live vicariously through you.
