A very stressful year behind me, and another stress storm ahead, I needed a place to completely escape it all and re-set. Though I could have went anywhere in Europe, I chose Monica's place, because it looked bright, airy, clean and comfortable and also affordable. Indeed it was this, and much more. I found it to be an interesting combination of rustic (lots of light, windows, high ceiling, no doors, no climate control, airy, peaceful, quiet) and luxury (clean, big fluffy duvets and bath towels, hot showers, and if you're lucky, surprisingly delicious spirulina smoothies). Though the weather was very uncooperative for the first few nights, (an unusual very-cold-snap, accompanied with very high winds) Monica provided all of the necessities for sleeping comfortably.
When the weather finally returned to normal, it was obvious what an ideal location Trilla is for: hiking, mountain bike riding, horse riding, hunting wild pigs, gathering mushrooms and herbs, and Monica's place for people who like to practice: yoga, dance, fitness, play music, write a book, cook, paint.. Though there are no shops in Trilla, there are plenty of interesting, supporting neighbours to get to know: I met Germans, Irish, American, and many more.. As it was the holiday time, Monica offered to include me in the local events so although I came alone, and was a stranger to her and everyone, I was welcomed, and felt as if I were at home, and thus was able to re-cover some energy and gain lots inspiration from Monica, and her neighbours, her wonderful horses, and Brava, her dog.
I would highly recommend this place for large groups of fit adults interested in outdoor activities, fitness, or art/music/film/cooking projects and are amenable to unpredictable weather (as there is no central heating or cooling). Also it is convenient to either come with transportation, as there are no shops in this village, or organise with Monica before you come. She is very communicative and is willing to help give you the best experience you can have.
I would not recommend this place for children (there are dangerous steps, and lots of places to fall from above in the loft area) or people who are accustomed to a temperature controlled environment, as the weather can be unpredictable.
Thank you Monica for the wonderful 8 days. I hope to meet in Trilla again one day!
Monica is a wonderful host. She welcomes me with a glass of wine. I had dinners with friend of her. It was a wonderful experience. Thanks...
This former vineyard is a truly magnificent place with a truly magnificent host! Just a 40 min 1€ bus ride away from Perpignan, you'll find a quiet, beautifully furnitured loft close to the nature. Hiking, biking, walking horses - whatever it is, you can do it. I booked two nights and stayed four, and hope to come back some day.
Nous avons été très bien accueillis par Monica. Le bâtiment est assez extraordinaire et on dort littéralement en face des Pyrénées ! A recommander.
