I booked Barbara's home for a weekend to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday, and we were overall really happy with our lovely host! She was super warm and welcoming, and gave fantastic suggestions on where to go and what to see in the city. She lives within walking distance of the downtown plaza (with cute restaurants and shops galore -- I highly recommend Girl & The Fig and Basque Boulangerie!) as well as several wineries (just a 20-minute stroll from Sebastiani and another 15 minutes to Ravenswood)! It made for a pleasant "hike" on a sunny day, and afterwards when we were too tired to walk back, her home was just an $8 Uber ride away. The room also came equipped with coffee and wine glasses, and how can I forget the lovely sauna. Sadly it is electric but don't let that deter you -- nothing feels better after a day of drinking than sweating all the toxins out!
I was worried I wouldn't be able to relax completely while sharing a house with someone else, and although the circumstances did detract from my comfort somewhat, Barbara does a very good job of giving her guests their privacy. And the private (and very clean) bathroom indeed felt like a spa retreat -- especially with the nice plush robes.
All in all, I'm very grateful to Barbara for being such a well-informed Sonoma local and host, and sharing the beauty of her city with us visitors! If you have some time to drive further out, take Barbara's advice and have brunch/lunch at The Kenwood -- you will not regret it!
We had a wonderful time here. The room was clean and comfortable, and it is very convenient to the Sonoma Plaza. Barbara was very gracious when greeting us, and gave us some great information about a wine bar where we could listen to good jazz music after dinner. We went there and had a great time. Overall, we had a very pleasant experience and would not hesitate to return.
Barbara was very friendly, easygoing and attentive. She prepared things we needed even before we asked! The location was golden - you can walk to cafes, bakeries and stores if you need anything. The bedroom was cozy and clean, and most of all, the sauna was so awesome!
Staying with Barbara over Christmas was the best decision my husband and I made! She made us feel so welcome when we arrived, it truly felt like we were staying in the home of a close personal friend. Also, the bed was super comfortable, as was the room (the whole home) and was the perfect place to retreat to after a day of sight-seeing and hiking. I would recommend staying here, especially over a hotel, because you get the hotel experience (amenities such as little shampoos and comfy robes to slip on after a warm shower, and an in-room sauna - actually, how many hotels can you say have that?) with a personal touch. If we're ever in Sonoma again I know where I'm staying :-)
She was present at the time of check in and gave us a full tour of the place. We instantly felt comfortable and were excited to see the booklet she made with activities in the surrounding area!
The accommodations are as they appear in the listing, and Barbara was a very helpful and friendly host. She was very flexible in our arrival and showed great understanding when I accidentally spilled some wine.
The house is very conveniently located--just a short walk from Sonoma Plaza and even closer to the bike/walking path.

I think of myself as a nurturing host and treat people as if they were family, as I like to treated when I stay in others homes. My sweet little Maltese-Poodle will be your official greeter, she will win your heart instantly. When I travel it is always my goal to get to know the locals and see how people really live rather then just travel as a tourist and miss the real heart of each culture.
It would be my pleasure to have you in my home and help to make your Spa-like retreat in Sonoma California a memorable one. You will be located in the heart of Wine Country, an hours drive to San Francisco and many of the most beautiful coastal beaches in Northern California. Sonoma is a great town for bike riding and hiking both. Our weather is lovely year round, the Fall is harvest time with many festivals and the smell of pressed grapes in the air.
