The Space

The house has four levels and the guest suite is on the lower level. It is completely private and quiet. It is ideal for one person, a couple or a couple with a child.

Guest Access

In addition to the entire lower level, guests will also have access to the half bath on the ground floor, and to the front porch and back yard.

Interaction with Guests

We are busy people so will probably have limited interaction with guests. However, we are also friendly and will be happy to give you directions, make suggestions for places to go and things to do, and even do a load of laundry for you!

The Neighborhood

The neighborhood is residential and is in close proximity to a park, shops, restaurants, public transportation, Dunkin' Donuts, Whole Foods, and a beautiful public library.

There is a north-south bus that runs a block away and both the Newton Centre and Newton Highlands T (subway) stops are a ten-minute walk away. Boston's Logan Airport is accessible via the T. Free parking is available on the street between April 15 and November 15 and in an adjacent parking lot at other times of year.

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • Liz was a gracious host! The accommodations were very comfortable and just as described online. I highly recommend Liz!

  • Liz's spacious and elegantly decorated place is warm and welcoming. It has old Bostonian charm. The suite is quite private as it is separated from the rest of the house and has its own (equally elegant) bathroom. My communication with Liz was smooth and swift. I was grateful for Liz's quick response to my request and for her willingness to accommodate me at short notice. Strongly recommended.

  • Liz and Jackie were great and friendly host. Accommodations were clean, roomy and private. There is quite an assortment of books to look through if you decide to stay in. Restaurants and Dunking Donuts are about 50 yards away. We loved our stay and plan to visit again.

  • We had a great stay! We stayed for one night while in town to visit family nearby. The accommodations were very comfortable. Thanks, Liz!

    November 2013
  • Liz and Jackie were great hostesses. Their basement suite is spacious and lined with tons of books and games. We loved the bathroom with the heated floor and towel rack. They provided lots of personal touches such as bottled water, maps, informative brochures about the area, bath amenities, chocolate and lots of extra blankets. Their home is conveniently located. A very comfortable and private place to stay.

  • What a wonderful experience! The room was fantastic - clean, large, comfortable, and beautiful. Liz even prepared the room with chocolates, bottled water, and an informative welcome letter. The bathroom even had heated tiles! Towels, soap, shampoo and all the standard hotel amenities were all included as well. We also had a couch and a large flat-screen television.

The house is located in a safe family-friendly neighborhood just outside of Boston. It is about 0.7 miles from the subway (a short and pleasant walk through a very pretty New England town), and if you are feeling a bit on the lazy side, there was plenty of street parking near the subway if you don't want to make the walk.

Liz could not have been more accommodating. She is warm, friendly, and truly cares about her guests.

I cannot recommend this place enough. If you are thinking of staying in the Boston area, this is the place to book. I know that I'll be coming back here on my next visit.

  • We enjoyed our stay in Newton and Liz and Jacqui's home is great! The guest room is very private, quiet and spacious. Loved being able to peek at the books in their vast library! We were out and about visiting friends for the evening and then had to leave again first thing in the morning, so we didn't get to visit much with our hosts. They were very friendly and gave us information about Boston which is helpful!! Thanks for a very nice stay!

  • Liz was a great host. We had to check in earlier than what was indicated and she had arranged her neighbor to give us the key (make sure you call her to let her now when you plan on actually checking-in/picking up the key). The place is located outskirts of Boston, close to Whole Foods and other stores nearby. The home itself is clean and tidy, and the room we stayed at is situated in her basement. The entire basement includes a full/queen? mattress, tons of pillows, high speed internet, wifi, Mac computer, large screen cable TV, table w/chairs, couch and a luxurious bath w/heated floors. Everything was provided for your stay (including maps/welcome letter/details about Boston/Cambridge) and if you ever need anything it's pretty easy to just ask (kitchen is also available upstairs if needed). As for public transportation, the "T" (Boston's own public transit) is appx a 10-15 min walk. If you decide to rent a car, it's about a 20-30 min drive into the city which will set you back $2.50 round trip on toll. Overall, we enjoyed staying at Liz's house and would do so again if we ever visit Boston. Lastly, she even shared her chocolate chip banana cake which was delicious!

  • The place is amazing and inviting, we stayed three days, my wife and my children were very happy, is not only a room, it is all the basement of the house with a private bathroom, we feel very good, LIZ is a wonderful hostess, we will definitely go back,,,definitely to recommend
