Great location

Guests who stayed here in the past year loved the location.
This fantasy dwelling was inspired by none other than J.R.R. Tolkien's, "The Hobbit". Equipped with an iconic round door, natural rock walls and beautiful wood beam ceilings, it's impossible not to experience total enchantment staying in this space. Whether you are a couple of hardcore LOTR fans or maybe a creative individual seeking solitude to unplug for inspiration, this space will surely deliver!

The space
The bed is a queen sized Murphy bed, providing ample space for activities during the day and a super comfortable sleep during the night. The accommodations are simple: there are sinks, with running water, both inside and outside the hobbit house. There is a small closet to hang clothes, a wood-burning fireplace and built-in desk. There is also a small bar (on rollers) stocked with basic cookware, glassware and cutlery. There is no refrigeration system (no electricity), but we do have a top-of-the-line YETI cooler to keep any perishables cold, and we can provided a block of ice. There is a Coleman propane camping stove provided, allowing you to cook indoors, or outdoors.

Outside there is a propane BBQ grill and an on-demand hot outdoor shower and flush toilet. There are plenty of seating areas, whether you would like to bring a chair(s) out around the fire pit, or sit on top of the living roof.

*Note: The hobbit house has no electricity. Oh, and there is no cellular or Wifi signal near the hobbit house... if you would like to connect to Wifi, you are welcome to come hang out in/near the main house.

Guest access
This hobbit house is a short walk (approximately 250ft) down a partially paved trail from the main house. It can be a bit difficult for roller bags.

Other things to note
The hobbit house is a elevated glamping (“glamour camping”) experience. This space probably won't work well for people who are looking for all of the amenities... including, but not limited to: electricity (that includes heating and cooling), WiFi and cell service.

Another very important thing to note is, the hobbit house is close to wildlife- we do our best to keep the wildlife (mice, ants, beetles, etc.) outside of the dwelling, but mice and insects may find their way inside at some point during your trip. If you are not comfortable with potential interactions with these animals or insects, this may not be an ideal accommodation for you! We do make every effort to keep these interactions to a minimum by utilizing live traps and other sustainable pest control means. By keeping all food and drinks inside the YETI cooler, creatures will be further discouraged from sneaking inside the hobbit house.

Parking is located in the driveway/street of the main house, which is just a short walk up the trail from the hobbit house.

Please make your reservations carefully as the months of July, August, September, and October are known to be hotter compared to the other months. In The Hobbit, there are battery-operated small fans available that circulate the air, maintaining a relatively cooler temperature of 80 degrees Fahrenheit inside, even when the outside temperature soars to 100 degrees Fahrenheit. However, do note that the temperature can rise higher when the door is open. We do not take any responsibility for any inconvenience caused by the weather conditions.

My work: Wild photographer
Roy is a nature photographer, who travels the world leading people to wild places. When he’s not in Brazil taking photos of jaguars, or in the Himalayas, tracking snow leopards, he’s at home with his beautiful wife Stella, tending to his flourishing garden of exotic plants. Stella, originally born in Poland, spending a great portion of her life in Chicago, IL, now calls Southern California home. She absolutely loves the sunshine and the peace and tranquility of Ramona. In May 2021 Roy and Stella were married in their Ramona garden. Roy met and fell in love with Stella after she came to visit the Hobbit Hole in May 2018! So make sure you really like the person you come visit with......as wedding bells may be ringing soon after!
