  • We had a great stay with Lien. She is truly a wonderful host. Her house is lovely and located in an area where you will be the only tourists. Wonderful. Still plenty of places to eat and shop nearby. We mastered the busses quickly and also used taxis which are easy and Lien will call one for you if you wish, but we enjoyed catching the bus with the locals. Very easy to old quarter, train station or anywhere for that matter. Lien also spoiled us with traditional meals and helped us to work out how to eat like a local. You must stay with Lien.

  • We absolutely loved staying at Liens! Lien is an amazing host who always went above and beyond - we HIGHLY recommend staying here.

    1) Location-wise: In many ways, we preferred staying at Lien's over staying at the Old Quarter. It was a quiet, lovely residential area and only a pleasant 5 minute walk to the main road where you can catch bus 17 (7000 dong) & 34 (5000 dong) to the heart of the city. Super convenient and worth the peace of mind you get away from the city. But if you prefer going by taxi, Lien is always more than happy to help order you one at your convenience.

    2) Room: Both her rooms are beautiful, spacious and clean. And they open out to a shared balcony where you can chill out on a sunny day. Comfortable and relaxing.

    3) Hospitality: Lien is the perfect host - she arranged for a taxi to pick us up when we arrived (beware of the taxi scams at Hanoi airport), even invited us for a home-cooked meal and shared with us Hanoi's history and culture over that and tea. When we suggested a night out of foodie hunting, she was up for it and took us to really yummy local spots. She was very good with last minute arrangements (we had to stay an extra night and she was super accommodating about it) and the tour we booked with her for Tam Coc was the best tour we went on during our stay in Hanoi.

Quite a long review here but we really loved staying at Lien's and wanted to make sure we did her justice. Thanks Lien and hopefully, we'll be back soon!

  • I had a lovely time staying with Lien at her home. Lien had a taxi waiting for me at the airport and my room was so welcoming and warm. Included in the my stay was breakfast, and that first morning, Lien took me to a neighborhood soup shop where I had my first soup experience in Hanoi. She also gave me my first experience of crossing the very busy street in the way the locals do. I can't say enough thank you's for this experience because, quite frankly, it was different than I ever experienced. Lien also cooked dinner for me and the other guest, and took us to watch her dad dance at a dance hall. Her house is in a neighborhood away from the tourists and I was able to get an appreciation for folks living here without the crowds. Lien also helped me with the bus system and went above and beyond by walking me to the railway station (there are two in Hanoi) and waited with me until I boarded the night train. If you are looking to stay away from the crowds but close enough where a bus can get you where you want to be or taxi ride, I recommend this homestay.

  • We stayed with Lien for only two nights but she was the best host ever and made our stay unforgettable. Not only did she help us get around and give valuable advice on how to get around and what to do, but she also prepared vietnamese dinner and breakfast for us. She is very welcoming and all in all we enjoyed our stay every single minute.
Lien, hope to see you for our next stay in Hanoi :)

The room and bathroom are perfect : very spacious and comfy.
It's quite far away from the center, i'd recommend the place if you stay a long time in Hanoi.

  • Lien is the perfect hostess and has a lovely welcoming, clean home which was a delight to stay in. The location is fantastic - the real Hanoi away from tourists. Many vegetable garden plots around as well as local cafés to enjoy. Lien is THE best cook and thank you for allowing me experience real Vietnamese food.

  • We had a great time at Lien's place. It is a peaceful retreat from the craziness of Hanoi. Lien was extremely helpful to us in many ways. Highly recommended. If I come back to Hanoi I will definitely aim to stay there again.

  • [Lien's house]
Not so far away from tourist-oriented old quarter, Lien's house is hidden inside the residential area in Hanoi, quiet, clean and warm. Lien is very friendly and welcome our visit, treating us as old friends even though it was our first meet!

    [The area]
In the morning, we took a walk in the area and tried to experience how real local lives. We followed local to eat rather than travel guide, trying body language rather than English that locals are not familiar with. The area is different from old quarter, less travellers and vendors, and more local lives.

    [Traffic]
We took cab from old quarter by around VND100K. Then we tried local way to take a bus to leave for old quarter, 5K per person.

    [Overall]
I chose Lien's place because of airbnb's reviews and would like to recommend to others who love to make local friends, like to try local lives in residential area

The house is no longer to the center (10 minutes by taxi); it´s nice and big, clean an with comfortable beds. Lien´s surprise us with an excellent vietnamisse breakfast. Thank you Lien! • Lien was a fantastic host. She helped with everything from introducing local eateries to helping me learn the local bus system. I wasn’t quite brave enough to battle the Hanoian traffic by motorbike.

The first night I arrived we went into the old quarter. I wondered around a bit and then we met back up for a welcome dinner of traditional vietnamese noodles. Lien continued to surprise me by preparing several meal delicious meals during my week-long stay.

The house is just over the bridge from the old quarter and easily accessible by bus (5,000 VND). It’s located in a quiet residential area, which was nice to retire to after a hectic day of maneuvering through the bustle of the old quarter. Just a warning though, if you’re looking for a place where you step out your front door and you’re in the middle of old Hanoi, this isn’t it. Of course, you’d be hard pressed to find this much value for your money in the old quarter.

Lien’s home is very warm and inviting, not to mention clean. She really goes out of her way to make her guests fill like the experience is a true home stay compared to staying in a cold hotel room.

In the end I feel very lucky that I found this place on Airbnb and the price was a real bargain. I ended up extending my stay after my initial booking expired. Highly recommended.
