We have a two bedroom apartment right on Humboldt Boulevard in the Logan Square neighborhood. The apartment is a short walk to the Blue Line California stop, which can easily get you to O'Hare and downtown/Loop in 20 minutes. Logan Square is a young, hip neighborhood with many great restaurants, bars, lovely parks, shops and things to see.
The apartment is a couple doors down from Parson's, a fantastic fish and chicken place with a large outdoor patio (includes ping pong!). Bang Bang Pie Shop, Boiler Room (great pizza), Revolution Brewing, Lula Cafe, Longman and Eagle, Catherine Anne Confections and Scofflaw, are just a few of our favorite places that are within easy walking distance. If you're a runner, Palmer Square and Humboldt Park are less than half a mile away, connected by green boulevards!
The older apartment has two very spacious bedrooms, a shared bathroom, a living room and kitchen that you're welcome to make your own and use. Our place comes with wireless internet free to use, guitars for the musically inclined, and a slew of board games for those who wish to play! Hablamos español!
Chicago is a great city with a long list of places to visit, food to eat, and shows to see! In addition to the “L” blue line, a new Divvy bike share station is located a short walk away. Bikes are such a convenient and fun way to get to know a city, especially a city as bike friendly as Chicago. There are lots of great neighborhoods to explore (Andersonville, Pilsen, Bucktown to name some of our favorites), and great shows to see (Second City, The Neofuturists, The Hypocrites and more!)
This was our first experience with airbnb, and boy were we impressed.
If you want a local vibe within walking distance to the oh so lively Wicker Park, Bucktown & Ukrainian Village areas - this is your spot. Although staying in one of these areas specifically would have also been great, they come at a higher cost and you have less of an excuse to eat all the really amazing food you're surrounded by because you won't have as far of a walk.
Although we know Brian exists because we heard his voice in the hallway one morning as we were waking up, we only had the pleasure of meeting Kallie face to face on our visit and she was an absolute pleasure - very accommodating, generous, sweet, artsy and we found her hospitality and her & Brian's humble abode to be just what we needed for our weekend exploring in Chicago. When booking, we were interested in how the whole sharing a bathroom thing would go, but it ended up being a non-issue and we really felt like we had our own space and privacy here. (Also...I'm kind of a pillow snob...and their pillows made me want to sleep half of my day away...)
We would highly recommend this spot to anyone looking to explore outside of downtown and really get a feel for the more local-esque areas of Chicago; you won't be disappointed in the accommodations Kallie & Brian's Logan Square pad offers.
P.S. - Must visits: Ipsento in Bucktown (coffeeshop - order their 'ipsento'...it is amazing), Bite Cafe in the Ukrainian Village (one word: poutin), Dimo's in Wicker Park (pizza), Stan's Donuts & Glazed & Infused in Wicker Park (both are donut shops that will blow your mind - at Stan's it's the valencia chocolate donut & at Glazed & Infused it's the lemon coconut donut), 90 Miles Cuban Cafe near Logan Square (BYOB and music that will make your shoulders dance all night long!) & Mindi's Hot Chocolate (perfect spot for a romancey dessert date).
Kallie and Brian were awesome! Super friendly! The bed was so comfortable and the room was so cozy. Great neighborhood with easy access to the train and other transportation. They were great hosts and we'd love to come back and stay with them again!
I had a great stay. They were very accommodating and let me choose my level of interaction with them. Definitely would stay again.
Excellent communication! I booked the place the day before I was going to Chicago and was confirmed with warm details in almost no time. The apartment is sunny and brightly-colored. I can imagine it must be beautiful in the summer with the trees and shadows on the boulevard. I didn't get a chance to meet Brian and Kallie in person but would love to next time I pass through Chicago :)
Had such a great time staying at Kallie and Brian's place! Their place is really cute and in such a great neighborhood. There was plenty of parking on adjacent streets which was convenient because I didn't really want to drive around in the city. There were also some great shops/eateries close by and within walking distance. The California Blue line was probably a less than 10 minute walk and was pretty close which was convenient on getting to Downtown (15-20 min train ride). The room was also very comfortable and warm! They offered nice treats/tea/coffee! Overall, had such a great experience and they were very friendly on offering suggestions of places to check out. Thanks again--would definitely stay here again!
Kallie and Brian are nice, friendly, helpful and respectful. The room was really gorgeous and warm - cosy place to stay and interesting neighborhood for going out and dine. We highly recommend it. Good communication and easy Check-In and Out. We loved the "tea and coffee treat suitcase". Thank you
Kallie was very quick to respond to all of my questions before I arrived, and Brian made excellent suggestions for restaurants in the neighborhood. The location is great - close to transportation and fun spots to eat and drink. Their home is clean and very cute, and the room is spacious and comfortable.
Kallie and Brian are awesome! Best hosts ever! Our train was super delayed so we arrived late, but they communicated well and had everything ready for us to fall into bed when we arrived. Their place is wonderful, close to everything and in a great neighborhood. We can't wait to return to Chicago and stay with them again. Thanks so much guys :)
Kallie and Brian were absolutely wonderful and accommodating hosts. They left clear instructions for entering their apartment and their place was clean, refreshing, and charmingly decorated. The guest room that we stayed in was well-kept and the bed was very comfortable, and they were so generous enough to provide two sets of towels as well as a little tray of tea and other goods. The apartment is also conveniently a 10 minute walk from the California station Blue line. Overall, it was a great stay and I look forward to booking with Kallie and Brian again in the future!
