A more longwinded explanation of the apartment …
The apartment building is a historic landmark. Next door to the apartment building is a small park with children’s play area, amazing Olympic size pool (open in summer to public), handball and basketball courts, and benches to sit and enjoy the summer days.
A bit about the apartment, it is a very cute one bedroom with six foot floor to ceiling windows (one in the bedroom and one in the living room), exposed brick, washer/dryer, linens, computer, laser printer, all included. The apartment is very clean, in a very safe neighborhood and looks great.
The one bedroom has a full size sealy mattress bed, along with three armoires that hold a ton of clothing. There is also a closet in the bedroom, one in the living room, and a long huge one in the hallway. The kitchen/living room has a computer and 19” flat panel for fast internet (internet and wifi included).
The kitchen will be stocked with ALL NEW plates/dishes/cups/cutlery etc, as well as pots and pans. We installed new cupboards, new sink, new stainless microwave, and redid the butcher block countertops last month.
The floors are REAL hardwood flooring throughout the apartment and there are two areas where the wall is exposed brick, in the living room and kitchen area, as well as a small bit in the bedroom., so it provides you with a great look and a attractive apartment.
There will also be bookshelves, coffee table, leather futon, eat in kitchen/bar, ceiling fans, and air conditioner. There are several plants in the apartment as well to give it a homey feel. Almost all the lights are on dimmer switches, which allows you to set a great mood with low level lighting.
The area, Upper East Side) is incredibly safe with no problems as far as crime or drugs etc. My wife walks around at night when coming back late from work without a problem, and I don't ever have to worry about her safety. Our building does provide a night security officer who monitors the area at night to ensure safety, but if you speak to anyone about our neighborhood they will confirm that there are never any problems.
Close to everything ... with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd avenues being a 3 minute walk away and literally thousands of restaurants and bars of all different tastes, from Italian, Ethiopian, Peruvian, Argentinean, American, English, French, Middle Eastern, Vegetarian, Sushi, etc. Literally there is everything right near by. If you would like to see.. you can go to (website hidden) and see all the 546 restaurants that are in our neighborhood alone.
Central Park, the Met, the Guggenheim, are all a 13 minute walk away or a 3 minute cab ride. All areas of the city are completely accessible without a problem via cab, bus, or subway. There is even a taxi stand on our corner that takes you to Wall Street/Downtown in 10 minutes for only 6$ a person.
Anyway ... hope that helps ... if you have any other questions please let me know. I will try and get back to you right away.

My wife and I had a wonderful experience staying at this apartment. It is fully furnished and had everything we needed for our week in New York and more. Also, the owner went above and beyond to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. We had tickets to a broadway show the afternoon we arrived and needed to be at the theater before the usual 3 O'clock check-in time. The apartment owner let us drop off our bags with her before the show, and while we were gone, she moved all of our things to the apartment! When we arrived that night there was a nice note, everything necessary for making coffee and tea, snacks, and fruit waiting for us in addition to our luggage. The area surrounding the apartment felt safe and there is a subway station relatively close by which we walked to and used frequently. We really enjoyed the apartment and it suited our needs perfectly. We would recommend it to anyone looking for a nice, affordable, low key place to stay in Manhattan.
The appartment is lovely and very conveniently located. Close to the subway station and plenty of taxis around. Cynthia is a great host, very friendly and accommodating. I would highly recommend staying there.
Cosy little apartment, nicely modern furnished. We enjoyed our stay very much. After a few days we got used to the stairs up to the sixed floor !-). Metrostation and central park is not far away. Owners are nice and helpful.
I was greeted by gracious Cynthia who made me feel so welcome to this apartment. The building's historic architecture is beautiful, the 6th floor climb not bad (I hike so found it easy). The apartment was clean, well equipped (dishes, coffee maker, etc) and very comfortable. The neighborhood is safe, stores are abundant, the walk to the subway is about 10 minutes and 5th Avenue (Met Museum) just a little further. There is so much to discover in this neighborhood, I would recommend this apartment and these gracious, responsive hosts for a wonderful New York experience!
Our hosts were terrific - very flexible and accommodating, and the apartment itself was exactly as billed. Very comfortable for 2 people and the location is terrific. That said, the 6th floor walkup is a BIG issue that wasn't quite clear in the description. We were prepared for 6 stories (having lived in NYC ourselves) but what we weren't prepared for was for the stairwells to be outdoors and extremely narrow and steep. Perhaps not a big deal for young people, but for us (early 60's but in very good shape) it was a problem getting our luggage upstairs and also made us less inclined to make more than one trip up each day unless absolutely necessary. It just wasn't convenient to climb those stairs so we didn't use the apartment in the way that I had planned. But it's lovely, well appointed, and Roberto provided terrific info for those who aren't familiar with NYC. Just be aware that the stairs are a major factor!
Staying in Roberto's apartment was great experience. The location was great and very safe. Close to everywhere. Maximum 10 minutes walk to subway. The apartment was very clean and comfortable. Our baggages were lost and we need to give a local number to the airplane company to reach us quickly. We gave Roberto's number and he talked for us when the company called. He was very helpful and thanks to Roberto, we got our baggages back:)
Well equipped and cozy apartment, located in a nice and peaceful neighborhood, inhabited by families. Climbing the 6 floors by foot is not a problem if you are fit. You will find small restaurants and various types of stores (food, drugstore, post office, etc.) nearby. The subway is at a 10 minute-walk and Central Park at 15-20 minutes (10 mn running…).
Roberto makes everything he can to make your life easy.
Just be aware that the apartment is not really suitable for four adults, but it is fine for two adults and two children. The major drawback we found is that the building is noisy (air conditioners, sounds circulate with resonance); but this is probably quite usual in New York…
We had a fantastic stay in New York, and loved staying at Roberto's place. The location was nice (clean, safe, quiet) and you could easily walk to the subway and Central Park. The apartment was very clean and it was well accommodating for our party of 4. But get ready to climb some stairs! It also is very true to NY...tiny with lots of character.
Roberto was always available via email. He was very helpful and professional.
We enjoyed staying in the Upper eastside. Perfect location for exploring NYC for a family. Like going back to a calm and secure small town in the evenings after exploring the city for a full day.
