A more longwinded explanation of the apartment …
The apartment building is a historic landmark. Next door to the apartment building is a small park with children’s play area, amazing Olympic size pool (open in summer to public), handball and basketball courts, and benches to sit and enjoy the summer days.
A bit about the apartment, it is a very cute one bedroom with six foot floor to ceiling windows (one in the bedroom and one in the living room), exposed brick, washer/dryer, linens, computer, laser printer, all included. The apartment is very clean, in a very safe neighborhood and looks great.
The one bedroom has a full size sealy mattress bed, along with three armoires that hold a ton of clothing. There is also a closet in the bedroom, one in the living room, and a long huge one in the hallway. The kitchen/living room has a computer and 19” flat panel for fast internet (internet and wifi included).
The kitchen will be stocked with ALL NEW plates/dishes/cups/cutlery etc, as well as pots and pans. We installed new cupboards, new sink, new stainless microwave, and redid the butcher block countertops last month.
The floors are REAL hardwood flooring throughout the apartment and there are two areas where the wall is exposed brick, in the living room and kitchen area, as well as a small bit in the bedroom., so it provides you with a great look and a attractive apartment.
There will also be bookshelves, coffee table, leather futon, eat in kitchen/bar, ceiling fans, and air conditioner. There are several plants in the apartment as well to give it a homey feel. Almost all the lights are on dimmer switches, which allows you to set a great mood with low level lighting.
The area, Upper East Side) is incredibly safe with no problems as far as crime or drugs etc. Our building does provide a night security officer who monitors the area at night to ensure safety, but if you speak to anyone about our neighborhood they will confirm that there are never any problems.
Close to everything ... with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd avenues being a 3 minute walk away and literally thousands of restaurants and bars of all different tastes, from Italian, Ethiopian, Peruvian, Argentinean, American, English, French, Middle Eastern, Vegetarian, Sushi, etc. Literally there is everything right near by. If you would like to see.. you can go to (website hidden) and see all the 546 restaurants that are in our neighborhood alone.
Central Park, the Met, the Guggenheim, are all a 13 minute walk away or a 3 minute cab ride. All areas of the city are completely accessible without a problem via cab, bus, or subway. There is even a taxi stand on our corner that takes you to Wall Street/Downtown in 10 minutes for only 6$ a person.
Anyway ... hope that helps ... if you have any other questions please let me know. I will try and get back to you right away.
No smoking in the house please. We also do not have nor allow pets in the house.
Lastly .. we just ask if you can keep the apartment as you found it, nice and neat!
Cynthia's place was exactly as advertised. I'd definitely stay there again. Very nice building and perfectly situated in uptown NYC-it is a great location.
Cynthia was an amazing host. She was so helpful and easily contactable, she assisted with every query 100%. The apartment felt like it was our own for 10days...The location was great... Surrounded by great eateries, bars and convenient stores... Be mindful that there are 6 flights of stairs and no elevator in the complex and to climb with 2 heavy suitcases was quite hard... However you got used to them on a daily basis. She greeted us with milk and water and lovely snacks and the apartment was nice a warm considering it was freezing in NYC. The apartment is nice and clean.
Great unforgettable experience !!
The apartment was wonderful! It was clean, located in a great area and he hosts were great. Even though we had no trouble with the six flights of stairs to the apartment, it may present a problem for some people. It's also quite a long walk from the closest subway (about 7-8 blocks or 15-20 minutes). The radiator in the bedroom is quite loud as well, so if you're a light sleeper that might not be great. Overall we loved the building and our hosts, and would definitely recommend the apartment for anyone on a budget!
We had a great stay here in New York. The location was central, everything we needed such as supermarkets, post office and restaurants were only one or two blocks away.
The apartment was clean and exactly as described, we had no problems with the apartment. Cynthia was always happy and prompt to answer any questions we had.
Thank you for a great stay :)
We loved our experience in New York and our accommodations were great! We felt very safe in the neighborhood and we even walked from the subway a few times after dark. The trip to and from the subway took about 10 minutes. There was a little grocery nearby and places to eat. The hosts made us feel very welcome in the immaculate apartment. They provided a packet of information to enhance our trip. Only negative which is not too big a deal after a few days :) is that the apartment is on the 6th floor and no elevator. It gives you an opportunity to work off the wonderful NYC food!
From the moment we walked up to the gates of this apartment, we knew made the right choice of staying here. Cynthia was a very kind and accommodating host! My boyfriend and I arrived very late but were happily surprised with some basic foods waiting for us! The apartment is exactly as pictured and even better in person. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay out fist time using airbnb. It was a super safe neighborhood in a beautiful building and we felt right at home. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a wonderful place to stay in NYC. If we do return to New York, we will try our hardest to stay here again!
Really useful information about getting there and the neighbourhood. Interesting historical building and a cute little apartment.
The listing was accurate.
Welcoming with starter supplies of basic foods - much appreciated for a late evening arrival.
The neighbourhood felt safe with restaurants and grocery stores close by. An easy walk to the subway on 77th and Lexington. Perfect location for my educational visit to one of the hospitals on York Avenue - a 15 minute walk away.
I had some front door key issues while there but the hosts were easily available to help out, and were generally very welcoming and thoughtful.

Hi.. I grew up in New York State, and have lived in NYC on and off for the past 8 years.
I have a really cute, quiet, and well furnished apartment on the Upper East Side in a beautiful landmarked building.
The apartment includes all linens, has a washer and dryer in the apartment, as well as a computer and wifi, and a great eat-in countertop. I also just put in new hardwood floors.
The location is safe, a 10 minute walk to the 4/5/6 train, and a 15 minute walk to Central Park as well as the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Please feel free to contact me and I will try and get back to you asap. Thanks much and hope to hear from you soon. Take care :)
