Val and I were delighted to meet David and Kumud. Their warmth and open hearts made the birthday weekend memorable indeed – we felt at home in an imaginative and inspired setting. There is Middle Earth and Narnian magic in what they've created - we are sure to be coming back.
We had an excellent time staying at the White Lotus-Suite P. We definitely want to be back in warmer weather and try out the treehouse. David and Kumud were responsive to any questions and requests, and the room was beautiful, clean and stocked with anything you may need during your stay. The grounds are just amazing and we took advantage of the lunar sauna, which was great in the cold weather. It was a great escape from the city and I would highly recommend it.
David and Kumund were wonderful hosts. Suite P was perfect for my boyfriends and my stay, it was a great get-away from the city. David and Kumund provided everything you needed in the rooms (with a wonderful coffee machine) and even provided a guidebook for local sites around the nearby area. The communal kitchen had everthing we needed and it was nice meeting and chatting with other guests while we made our food. I would definitely recommend staying with David and Kumud!
Similarly to the review that I left for Suite C, Suite P was beautiful, clean and cozy. The stay overall was perfect and the host is very kind, attentive and responsive. The common kitchen is well equipped and nice. The saunas are a wonderful experience and the place is amazing. I highly recommend it, you will have a wonderful and peaceful stay!!! We will come back...
My girlfriend and I had a great stay at "The Castle" with David and Kumud. They were very welcoming and responsive our questions before booking. We really enjoyed their focus on sustainability and that they had organic coffee and some other small treats available. The room and whole house were very clean, unique, and welcoming, as the pictures in the listing show. The wireless internet worked great and the internet radio/pandora/satellite music player in the room was awesome. We stayed in January and it was 12 degrees the first night, perfect for using the lunar sauna and an invigorating dip in the outdoor dipping pool. We definitely want to come back in the summer and explore more of "the Castle" grounds and surrounding area.
The Castle was a great winter get-away! The room was cozy; great masonry and woodwork, and lovely lighting for an otherwise low-ceiling room. My boyfriend loved the fresh-ground coffee machine in the morning, whereas I was very happy to have an electric kettle right there in the room. We used the communal kitchen -well stocked- to prepare our food everyday.
The saunas were perfect -- be prepared to strike up your own fire for the wood-burning stove. My favorite part about David and Kamud's was the smell of wood-burning stoves in the cold winter air :)
This would be the perfect place for a quiet rejuvenative weekend in the winter. Highly recommended!
This was a great place. The room was well appointed, with a comfortable bed, dishes, a microwave, and a coffee maker. It was like its own little apartment. The grounds are lovely, and the location, quite close to Shenandoah National Park is ideal for hiking.
My bride and I had a wonderful wedding weekend in the Castle. D&K were very accommodating. We asked if there would be an iron in the room to use and Kumud generously supplied her own. It was a welcome respite from the business of wedding festivities, providing a cozy atmosphere with privacy and independence.
What a dreamy and gorgeous place to stay! We loved our weekend in Suite P. David and Kumud were amazing hosts, welcoming us and offering great suggestions of places to see in the area. We loved the view out of our window and the jacuzzi tub was absolutely wonderful! Would recommend any of David and Kumud's listings but especially this one. So warm, so comfortable!!
Best weekend we've had in a while! Highly recommend this place if you're looking to cozy up, and isolate yourself from the hubbub of everyday life for a weekend. The room and bed was comfortable, the hosts warm, and the land beautiful. We'll be back!
