This sunny upper Victorian duplex has a warm and romantic feel with hardwood floors, vine coverage, a light cross-breeze, and historic touches for charm. The best of Minneapolis is just steps from your door! Ask us about childcare, meals, and rides!
These open and spacious living/dining rooms are great for gathering, enjoying afternoon sun, or reading.
It's fun and friendly! Oddly peaceful for such a hopping metro area. The kitchen has vintage touches and the sun streams gently in different parts of the house throughout the day and evening. The sunsets and the moon are visible from the front room.
Wireless internet, music area, artspace and supplies, massage/meditation/healing area, kitchen and bathroom, wireless projector with Roku, media center with printer and ifax.
Interaction with Guests
As much or as little as seems to flow.
Steps from many fresh, local, organic food choices. Great pubs just doors away, and many fun coffee shop choices. Bike paths for the urban adventurist. An easy bike ride, or long walk to down town. On the bus line. It's a hip, eccentric area, full of friendly faces. It's an open-minded, progressive neighborhood where you're free to be yourself, no matter who that is. Also walking distance from many theaters, community arts spaces, and museums.
We're right on the bus line, and half a block away from a Nice Ride station (affordable bicycle rental).
We're also 2 blocks from the metro greenway, which bisects the city and leads directly to the paths around lakes Calhoun, Harriet, and Lake of the Isles. Downtown is about 30 minutes on foot and 15 on bicycle. Many parks are close, including Loring Park. Augsburg, University of MN, and Riverside are all about a 15 minute drive from here.

We're from Texas and stayed in Minneapolis for a family wedding in December! My husband, two daughters (3 & 18mo) and I really enjoyed the home and location. We walked across the street to the bakery/cafe each morning for breakfast. Sleeping on a memory foam mattress felt like we were asleep in our own bed! Our girls loved all the toys/crafts made available to them during our stay. I was worried that our children stomping around on the creaky wood floors would bother our hosts below, but they were very gracious and even eased our worry by saying they enjoyed the sounds of "happy little feet." Definitely would recommend!
Christine and her family were great hosts! They live downstairs and came right up as we arrived (right at the 4pm check in) welcoming us and making the beds up. The place is the entire second floor of the house, with three bedrooms (four if you count the enclosed sun-porch area, which has a bed in it as well) and a large couch. A couple of the mattresses are really high quality, extremely comfortable. The kitchen has a ton of stuff in it, which made cooking a couple meals easy. The neighborhood is great - we wanted to check out the breakfast spots and bars in the area, which were nearby and a lot of fun. We used the bike share on the corner to bike downtown. It was fast, probably a ten minute bike ride. I was surprised how close the place was to downtown - the freeway isn't much of a barrier at all - a cab downtown was about $10. Nothing negative to report. Except maybe the internet, which went out for a day or two, but didn't affect us much. Great spot.
I debated whether to write this review. I have never written a review, let alone a negative one. But, I feel an obligation to properly inform other Airbnb members on what should be expected with this rental. Since my stay here was with five close friends, it didn’t ruin our experience. But, if I was in less amazing company, it very well could have, and I would have likely left prematurely to find more comfortable accommodations.
All members of my group agreed—the place did not feel clean. There was a ring of scum around the bathtub, dirty and stained furnishings, and a dirty refrigerator with dried food caked on the shelves and door. When you walked around the apartment barefooted a collection of animal hair would stick to your feet and the place smelt like cat litter. The towels and bed sheets were probably clean, but didn't smell fresh and they were mismatching, dark and worn. Some of the chairs had no cushions on them so you were just sitting on a chair frame, and the beds were uncomfortable with one bed being a simple and very thin foam mattress.
Unfortunately, since the place isn’t well cleaned, and it appears that there are animals that stay in the apartment. Some of our group members with allergies did not feel well all weekend. Additionally, I didn’t see a lot of the amenities that were advertised like the massage/meditation/healing area, wireless projector with Roku, or media center with printer and ifax.
The positives: the place had nice sunlight coming in through the windows, it is very conveniently located to restaurants, bars and cafes. And Christine and her partner were nice and accommodating. However, these factors did not out way the cons of the space and I, unfortunately, would not recommend this apartment to other Airbnb members or friends.
Yes, the listing description is accurate. Response time to needs and inquiries good and all exchanges pleasant.
Cute space, awesome neighborhood! So many fun things within walking distance. We enjoyed our honeymoon here. The only nitpick I have is the broken microwave, otherwise great!
The historic charm of the place and wonderful location really appealed to the San Franciscan in me who loves architectural quirkiness and walking to great restaurants.
But my lawyer side was alarmed by the amount of repairs the place needs: the stairs are uneven in the front with a dirty carpet thrown over some crack in the cement; the electrical socket in the bathroom buzzes rather loudly indicating a broken circuit; and you have to light the oven and stove to turn them on.
Other than that, the place just isn't very comfortable. There's kind of a "Goldie Locks and the Three Bears" situation happening with the beds -- one is too hard, one is too soft, one is too small, and maybe I didn't see the one that was just right. There is one old couch, a bunch of scatter chairs, and no carpets.
When you enter the place at night you have to turn on all the lights in the hallway manually, which means that you open the front door, you pull the string for the entrance light, you open the apartment door, you run upstairs and turn the switch for the stair lights, then you run downstairs to turn off the entrance light, then you run upstairs to turn off the stair lights. This, honestly could be easily remedied with switches that work.
You can hear traffic noise pretty clearly even with all the windows shut. And if it's hot, in the summer, there are only window fans to keep you cool.
There's a sign on the front door asking you to take off your shoes, and my feet got pretty dirty walking around. The places seems to be in need of a good cleaning.
I messaged the host on Airbnb when we first got there asking where the projector and media center (as advertised) where and never heard back on the subject. (In all fairness, maybe I should've texted too.) My husband and I eventually decided to leave early, thinking that we'd rather spend our vacation in a cheap hotel than in this place. I messaged the host again, told her we were leaving, and asked for a refund. I did hear back from her two days later apologizing and saying she could refund one night of our stay. However, I never received the refund.
I have had so many wonderful experiences at Airbnbs around the country that perhaps my standards are just too high. Most hosts really do care about your comfort and safety. Maybe the place is better suited to groups of younger travelers who are more interested in location than comfort. But we will not be staying at this place again or recommending it.
This property was perfect for our family trip. Lots of space and multiple bedrooms were great for our toddler. The Dr. Seuss book collection was a hit, too! Great location near coffee shops, restaurants and a food coop. Easy to find parking in front of the house or on neighboring streets during restricted parking hours. Thank you!
