Lots to do nearby

Guests say this area has plenty to explore.
Our studio is close to everything Bellingham has to offer. Just blocks from downtown, we are walking distance from nightlife, museums, restaurants, parks, and the waterfront. You'll feel at home with a private entrance, full kitchen, and washer/dryer. With tons of historic charm, yet a newly renovated space with fun design details, this is the perfect spot to enjoy this town, or the outdoors. PLEASE READ ENTIRE DESCRIPTION before booking!

The space
This is the THIRD floor of a 19th century home. There are two sets of stairs, and electronic locks to access your private studio. The studio has a full kitchen, and we provide the basics to cook simple items. If guests want to do more extensive cooking, we are happy to provide the tools, however we do not keep everything in the unit, nor do we keep any food or condiments. If you have the need for more specialty cooking tools, we ask that the guest communicates this need ahead of time. This also goes for additional household items. We are minimalists in many ways, but can always share/provide these items.

We provide coffee and tea (Keurig one cup at a time) as well as a French Press, and a hot-kettle for water. The space has a QUEEN size bed. The living room couch is a small futon that folds into a bed. We do not advertise this as a second bed because it is not a typical "bed". It has worked for many guests with children, or adults who don't mind their feet hanging off the edges. If you have questions about this additional bed, please message us.

Guest access
Guest access is private, requires one short staircase to the front door, and one indoor staircase to the unit. This is the third floor of a home built in 1886. The stairways could be considered narrow by today's modern standards. If you are someone who is uncomfortable with narrow stairs, this may not be the location for you.

Other things to note
***COVID info***
We have the highest expectations on cleaning and disinfecting. Our friends... a locally & womxn owned cleaning company, uses CDC approved disinfectants and has been trained in a CDC approved cleaning protocol. With every cleaning, this protocol ensures that every measure is taken while using an extensive and thorough checklist. If you have specific questions, please feel free to get ahold of us.

Please know, we are very close to the bay, just 4 blocks from the waterfront. You'll love the sunsets over bay and the view of Lummi Island, however the trains do run through town. We love it and find it charming, its what make our neighborhood so great, but we are approximately 6 blocks from the water, and 5 blocks from the tracks. Although we love the location, we do not want guests to be surprised about the train noise. Please be aware of this. Also, PLEASE READ our neighborhood description!

Neighborhood highlights

Lettered Streets is an awesome neighborhood if you like to be close to downtown restaurants, bars, and businesses. We often walk to the farmers markets or to brunch, and we appreciate that we are one of the closest neighborhoods to downtown Bellingham. We love all the breweries, tap-houses, and coffee shops that are blocks away from our house! It is also ideal because it is a short distance (less than a mile) from the waterfront and the Marina (Squalicum Harbor). The fact that we can walk less than a mile to the marina to inspect the yachts, watch the sunset at Zuanich park, or driftwood hunt along Squalicum Beach is a real luxury! We love our location so much, but we still feel it is important to note that because we are only blocks from downtown, parks, restaurants and the waterfront, we have some proximity to areas where the Unhoused population of Bellingham will congregate. Specifically, The Mission, a non-profit who has been serving Bellingham's unhoused population for many years. As with any downtown area nationwide, homelessness is rising. It is unfortunate, but we cannot change this fact until certain systemic issues are addressed in our country. And Bellingham, even though picturesque and charming, shares the same disparity in living wage/home prices that the entire west coast is currently experiencing. This, in conjunction with very few mental health support systems, has disastrous outcomes.

However, we love living so close to downtown and have NO issues with our neighborhood. It is considered a desirable and very safe area to live. But we like to give everyone a heads up... especially those folks that like to ignore that homelessness indeed exists in America. If you do not want to see or think about homelessness, please do not stay here. WE are letting you know now, that the location is urban, and you will encounter homeless people in the region.

Lives in Bellingham, Washington
Lindsy is a middle school teacher from both the Big Island of Hawaii and SW Washington and Eli is a born and raised Washington boy. We are currently living in this charming little town on the water. After living in Alaska for a short bit, we moved back to Bellingham and love every second. We especially love sharing all of our favorite spots in this quirky town. In 2018 we welcomed our daughter, Havana (like the city in Cuba). When we aren't playing with Havana or renovating our Lettered Streets houses, you can find us roaming Bellingham.... usually with a stroller, in search of good food and beer. On the more rare occasion, we're bothering our friends in Seattle and Portland, chilling on the Big Island, or exploring this lovely world.
