Farol da Barra, 3 bed apartment

Apartment - Entire home/apt · Rua Afonso Celso, Salvador, 40140-100, Brazil

The Space

Our 10th floor apartment looks south to the ocean with an amazing 180 degrees of sea and sky view from 2 of the 3 bedrooms. From the living room there is an almost 4 metre wide window with amazing sea views.

The reaction of our guests is always, "Wow! The pictures really don't do it justice."

The master bedroom has superb views of the sea and lighthouse. It has a Queen size bed, ensuite bathroom and ample wardrobe space.

The second bedroom has similar sea views and has a double bed, or two singles, good wardrobe space and shares a social bathroom with the third bedroom.

The area is safe and popular with tourists and locals. There are taxi stands and bus stops within 200 metres of the building, and taxis nearby day and night.

We're 100m from the beach where there's surfing and natural sea pools.

We're a few minutes walk from everything you might need: cafés (padarias), restaurants, bars, delicatessens, butchers, bakeries, fish mongers, ice cream parlours, shops, banks, night clubs, supermarkets, gyms, hairdressers, travel agencies, taxis, car hire, pharmacies, medical services, and a huge shopping centre.

We are also a short taxi (or bus) ride from some of Salvador's best attractions such as the historic old town of Pelourinho, or the bars and restaurants of Rio Vermelho.

The style of the apartment is modern and tastefully decorated with cool stone tiled floors.
There are 3 bedrooms, one en-suite bathroom, and one social bathroom.
Each room has a ceiling fan, and there is almost always a fresh sea breeze. This apartment does not have air conditioning, and living here ourselves, we can say it is almost always cool and breezy.
There is a double bed and four singles which can be pushed together to make a Queen.
They all have ample wardrobe space. Six sleep very comfortably!

The kitchen is fully equipped.
There is a utility area with washing machine and clothes drying area.

The living room has a beautiful dining table which seats 6, two large sofas, and two bar stools.

There is a 32" Flat Screen, Full HD 1080p TV, with Dolby surround sound system, DVD player, and Sky Cable TV with HBO max included. Wireless internet.

  • We stayed at this great apartment for Carnival this year. Great location - you are literally right in the middle of things when Carnival is on - we were abe to look out of the window and see (and hear) floats passing by. Jon was amazingly helpful - providing us with suggestions for places to eat and visit and even going as far as to arrange for a lovely lady to come round an cook us some authentic Bahian cuisine.

If you want to be right in the middle of the action for Carnival this is one for you!

  • Jon & Rosana are an amazing couple! Our stay in Barra was great. Jon & Rosana provided my friends and I with emails of great places to eat and explore. The apartment had ocean views and was very spacious. The location was two blocks away from the beach and numerous restaurants. This location is also next to bus stops and taxi's. The location was very ideal due to the ease in getting to sightseeing areas such as Parca de Se. The building is very safe, clean and secure with no noise at all from the other neighbors. Great vacation!

  • Just to keep it short: Rosana‘s and Jon‘s apartment in the district of Barra in Salvador is just perfect, especially for families with children.

The apartment is extremely well located. Two beaches are just a short walk away. The first of them is protected by some rocks forming natural basins which are just perfect for small children learning to swim without danger. The other beach is nearby the Barra port. You can practice any kind of water sport or just sit down on one of the chairs and simply relax.

However, the best is yet to come: The apartment offers an amazing sea view from the combined dining and living room. It‘s extremely relaxing if you can watch the sea while having lunch or breakfast. Beside this, the apartment offers everything a family needs. There are three sleeping rooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen and the spacious combination of dining and living room with TV and WiF. The kitchen has everything: a freezer, coffee machine, a stove, even a microwave. There is also a mixer which you can use to make the typical Brazilian fruit juices. The service area has a washing machine and enough space to dry all clothes. - Not to forget, dishes, bedclothes, and towels are also at your disposal. We did not miss anything.

For all other daily needs, there is in the eastern part of the same street a Perini supermarket which has a delicious bred. Nearby, there is a Banco do Brasil which accepts credit cards and a big Shopping mall, Shopping Barra, with restaurants, shops and a cinema. If you like to enjoy the historic Salvador which was the first Brazilian capital, then you just take the bus to Campo Grande in front of the historic lighthouse at the western end of the street and in twenty minutes, you can enjoy the amazing monuments of the colonial history.

Last but least: Rosana and Jon are extraordinarily nice people. They helped us in any possible way, answered all of our numerous questions before coming to Salvador and are really nice people. Thanks again! We will come back!

The warm sea, beautiful beaches, and spectatular sunsets, are just part of what we love about this historical city. Rosana is a fully qualified Shiatsu masseuse, Jon is a graphic designer, both living the dream in Bahia after the best of times in cool Britannia.
