Interaction with Guests
I work at the hospital, so I am gone a lot, but I can and will show you the ropes locally. My cook/bearer is here and speaks English and Bangla.
This neighborhood is great, there is a large park which is clean and people walk in, nice restaurants, secure area for diplomats etc.
There are the omnipresent Rickshaw in Dhaka there are over 800,000 of them and they will take you anywhere locally you want to go, for further trips there are "CNGs" or Baby Taxis for hire.
Stay here and you could give this host their first review!
I am a child and maternal health researcher based in the Dhaka children's hospital (Dhaka Shishu), working with icddrb on a Bill and Melinda Gates Funded project in the Subcontinent. (ANISA)
Originally from Toronto, Canada and of Irish/Scottish Descent. I have been doing this type of international health work for almost 5 years now and am respectful, but also have some stories as you might imagine. I am a landlord myself here in Dhaka for 2 large all-inclusive apartments with servants, etc. So I understand about the anxiety of a new tenant prospect.
My job is pretty demanding but I feel pretty balanced happy to have a beer and discuss politics, art, history, ethics, and culture generally, I like ideas.
Maybe that's why I'm drawn to this airbnb thing.
