Atwood Deep Roots Condo *Licensed*

Apartment - Entire home/apt · Talmadge Street, Madison, WI 53704, United States

Stay in a neighborhood known for its deep-roots perennial gardening and progressive, peace-loving lifestyle! 2BR/1BA, fully-furnished condo is the lower part of a duplex - with friendly neighbors - near bus lines, bike paths. City and state licensed.

The Space

I think the unique thing about this location is that it is in the center of Madison's most progressive, environmentally aware, and friendly neighborhood - the Schenk, Atwood, Starkweather, Yahara (SASY) neighborhood. You'll love it here! Close to all the East Side has to offer (dining, entertainment, festivals, etc.)!

Guest Access

Wi-Fi, TV/DVD, Porch/deck, Covered Bicycle area, 2 blocks from Goodman Community Center (gym and other activities), 1 block from Capitol City Bike Trail, 3 blocks from Atwood restaurants, shops, and coffee houses. No in house laundry, but a coin operated laundromat and dry cleaner are just 8 blocks away (.6 miles) on Winnebago Ave. We have children's games, toys, a crib, and car seats that guests can use.

Interaction with Guests

I am available to meet guests on at check in and check out as needed, to field questions about Madison and the neighborhood, and to ensure guests have a comfortable stay.

The Neighborhood

This neighborhood is quiet, progressive, and environmentally friendly. It is home to the Olbrich Gardens, Lake Mendota, the Atwood business district, and the Goodman Community Center. There are lots of things to do, including visiting a Brew Pub, taking in a show at the Barrymore Theater, shopping for art or gifts, or going out for dinner at one of the neighborhood's many restaurants.

Getting around

There are several buses that traverse Atwood Ave., just 3 blocks from home. The popular Capitol City Bike Path is just one block north as well. It is possible to walk to the Capitol in just 30 minutes (2 miles).

Other Things to Note

You will have upstairs neighbors who are very friendly! Our home is fully licensed and inspected by the City of Madison as well as the State of Wisconsin, ensuring a safe and comfortable stay!

  • My parents had a very nice three night stay. Dan made sure they had his cell phone, in case any questions came up, but he offered flexibility upon arriving and departing, with use of a lockbox.

This is a condo, so you do hear the above neighbors, but it is nothing obnoxious at all. And my parents said that the nights were quiet and a fan (which Dan has in the condo) on low provided just a perfect amount of white noise overnight.

  • We had a lovely stay at Deep Roots Condo! The accommodations are homey and our 3-year-old son was thrilled to find toys! We were able to find all that we needed to fix light meals (utensils, pots and pans) and take care of our daily needs. The location is ideal and it is easy to get to downtown Madison or shops and restaurants right on the east side.

Dan was a great host. He responded quickly to our questions and made the condo a very inviting, family friendly place. I highly recommend Deep Roots Condo.

  • The condo was clean, comfortable, conveniently located, and Dan was a very gracious and accommodating host. We will stay there again.

  • Dan was helpful, informative and timely. The condo is a great little 2 bedroom will a full kitchen. The neighborhood is nice with ample street parking and within walking distance to a variety of bars, restaurants and The Barrymore Theater (even in the winter). The walls are a little thin, but the charm, ease, cost, (everything else) truly makes up for it. Dan is timely and easy to contact, as well as very warm and friendly. We'll stay there again for our next little mini vacation if it's available

  • A great amount of space for the price. If you have a car and are visiting Madison, I highly recommend this spot. Quiet street in a neighborhood might be a bit far from the city center, but makes for quiet evenings. I didn't get to meet Dan, but he made check in and out a breeze!

  • Dan's condo was just perfect for us. Getting in and checking out was a breeze; Dan responded very quickly whenever we had questions. The place is full of comfy beds, interesting knick-knacks, and a sweet selection of board games. (We played the Dora the Explorer version of Candyland.) The house is in a lovely, quiet, easy-to-access neighborhood, but close enough to markets that grabbing breakfast was easy.
After checking out and leaving, we realized that we had left a coat in the house: Dan was totally cool about us sneaking back in and grabbing it.
We will definitely be hitting up Dan again the next time we come through Madison, and you should too!

  • I have been to Madison before, but this was the best experience I've had this time, thanks to Dan's hospitality at his place. The place is excellent, close to town, and even the minutest help I needed was promptly addressed by Dan. I highly recommend this place to all guests traveling to Madison, WI. Thank you, Dan, for a fabulous stay. Words fall short of stating how truly great the experience was.
    Thanks!

  • Comfortable space and great (email hidden)ar to lots of restaurants, bike trail etc. Quiet neighborhood but....as mentioned in previous reviews, the floors are very squeaky and any footsteps above are very loud below. However, all the older houses in Madison seem to have the same issues.

  • Based on the reviews here I booked "Deep Roots Condo" for a period of 11 days.
I was tired after 18 hours travel to get there so went straight to bed. Next morning had a quick shower and off to a meeting. After another busy day, went to the house late night and went straight to bed again. So the third day was the first day to stay in the house for more than sleep and first time to really look around in the house, an I was chocked, the house was really dirty and dusty. A friend of mine, was supposed to stay with me in the house for the remaining 8 days. We did some cleaning in the kitchen, before we felt that we would like to prepare any food there. Also cleaned the most dusty places in the bedroom. After my friend's first night in the house, the person felt very bad and had to seek a dr. and get medication because of a very bad dust allergic reaction.
I e-mailed the host Dan about the situation, he just answered that the house had been cleaned just before my arrival and what I was telling him couldn't be true. He had the chance to come by and look at the problem but he stayed away. So I did take some pictures of the dust and the dirty places and mailed them to him. In his next e-mail answer, he didn't comment on the pictures that I mail to him, just said that since I was not satisfied with the house, he would refund one nights pay (equals 9%). Now almost 3 weeks later he hasn't refunded anything, so I seriously don't think that I'll get the refund.

Like other mentioned you can here every foot steps from the people living upstairs.

Would have been nice if it was possible to attache pictures to this review, for everybody to see the amount of dust and the dirty places in the house.
