This private studio apartment is located right on the border of Carrboro and Chapel Hill, just a short walk from the best of both towns. It's a second-floor apartment with its own entrance and an outside security door. It consists of one bed/livingroom with a study space, full bathroom with shower and tub as well as full kitchen.
The apartment has a comfortable full-size bed, a futon which can be folded out into a not-so-comfortable bed, built-in desk, chest of drawers, bistro-style table with two chairs, and Wi-Fi enabled flat screen TV (with free Netflix) and free Wi-Fi. The kitchen space contains an electric range and oven, refrigerator, sink, plates and flatware, and cooking utensils.
This studio apartment is within 10 minute walking distance to UNC-Chapel Hill as well as 5 minute walk to great coffee shops, restaurants, bars, music venues, amenities, and Weaver Street Market.
Guest have access to everything in the apartment. Nothing is shared or off-limits.
Interaction with Guests
I don't live in the same building as the apartment, so I usually maintain contact with guests via phone, text or email. I try to meet guests in person at the beginning of their stay, but on occasion I provide a number code for the door locks and leave a set of keys in the apartment. Guests are free to contact me whenever necessary but I find that there ends up being little contact throughout the stay because the guests usually have everything they need.
Most everything you would want during your stay is within walking distance of the apartment.
The city bus service is free.
Please respect the no-smoking and no-pet policy. I'd be happy to discuss small pets, but no cats due to allergy concerns.
There is a common space "gazebo" down stairs where you are free to smoke or use the charcoal grill.
Because of the proximity to local bars, venues and restaurants, there is a lot of foot traffic outside the building at night, especially on weekends, but the noise is not bad with the windows closed. Please respect the neighbors and keep loud noise to a minimum at night. No band practice please!
Bicycles are typically locked in the stairwell, but feel free to store your bicycle(s) inside the apartment.
The television has built-in wi-fi and is set up for free Netflix on an account I provide, as well as other web-based services such as Youtube, (website hidden), Amazon Video (not free) and others. Free wi-fi access is provided as well as Basic Cable.
The kitchen is fairly well stocked with basic cookware, dishes, flatware and a blender. If you have a particular kitchen need that is not provided, I may be able to accommodate you.
There is no laundry facility in the building, but Chapel Hill Laundromat is located within biking distance.
Local bus service in Chapel Hill and Carrboro is free.
We were very happy with our experience. The apartment was as described. Small, clean, right downtown, with everything we needed for our stay. Eric was very responsive to questions.
Eric was a great host. This apartment is in a great location in relation to UNC. I was visiting the school and was easily able to walk to the campus/surrounding area. Eric checked in to make sure we had everything we needed multiple times and was quick to respond to any questions I had while I was there. I went down with my boyfriend and this space was perfect for the few nights we were staying in Chapel Hill.
Our two nights in Eric's apartment were great! Eric proactively contacted us and gave us all the important info we needed for our stay. The apartment was clean and very conveniently located. We are staying there again in two weeks. Looking forward to it.
Eric is a good host and mailed me and asked if I needed something a few times and was fast in responding to my questions. I have stayed in his apartment for a month and will do so for another 1½ week. The kitchen at Erics place is well enough equiped for cooking and with only a few minutes walk to the supermarkets in Carrboro (probably the best in central Chapel Hill/Carrboro) the possibilities to cook yourself is great.
Considering the price and location in comparison with other apartments it should be a great choice. The apartment is within walking distance to UNC (at most around 25 minutes to walk). There are plenty of nice restaurants in the neighborhood (both in Carrboro and at Franklin Street).
The apartment is as someone previously mentioned not as small as it might look like. It is one large room.
As already mentioned in my previous review. It was a nice place to stay and compared to other alternatives, it must be difficult to find an apartment in the central part of Chapel Hill (actually located in Carrboro but still very close to central part of Chapel Hill) and nearby UNC with as good value for the price. Eric was a great host.
We came down to see a UNC basketball game, and this location was perfect. It is a block from Franklin St., and also closer to Weaver St., so there was plenty to do. It is a studio, so not a room in a house, which made it more private. Despite having visitors right before and right after our stay, the place was clean and tidy when we got there.
My apologies Greg...
I accidentally referred to you as "Rebecca" in my review of your stay! Just to clarify, "Greg was a great guest! I was out of the country during his stay and the whole process still went very well. Greg even cleaned up the apartment for the next guest." Thanks again, Greg.
Great apartment, awesome location. Walking distance to lots of good bars and restaurants. Eric was very helpful, and we had a very easy experience getting into the place and leaving at the end of our week!
