We are happy to share our home with visitors who seek tranquility and a warm, family atmosphere. The cozy full sized bed is on the 3rd floor. Tree House room sleeps 2 with garden views. Bathroom located on 2nd floor. Meditation room across the hall
We purchased this beautiful antique home in 2012 as a family home. It had previously been run as a B&B and we now feel inclined to share this beautiful home with others. Magnificent gardens surround the house and stone pathways meander throughout the garden. Our music room/library is a cozy place to hang out and our guests are welcome to join us in the living areas.
Deana cooks a nutritious homemade breakfast from the bounty of our local organic and biodynamic farm.
We are a short walk to a stunning waterfall and hiking and skiing trails abound. Our guests enjoy nearby tennis, swimming, berry picking downhill skiing, theater, galleries and restaurants.
Guests are also welcome to join our family for dinner (previous reservation is appreciated.) We enjoy engaging in lively conversation over good food and glass of wine and frequently host friends and family. Our guests are always welcome to join.
There is wifi throughout the house , but we don't own a television.
Washer and dryer
Kitchen use and or meals with the family can be arranged
Interaction with Guests
Deana, Bruce or Isabel will often join guests at breakfast and enjoy sharing stories with those who are so inclined but are always respectful of your privacy.
Wilton is a friendly, old-fashioned rural New England community. It has an active yoga studio, great library and art supply store and a handful of lovely shops. Home to the famous Wilton Town Hall Theater, (the popcorn has real butter) there is always a wonderful film playing.
Public transportation is not an option in our rustic area. Folks love to bring their bikes, kayaks and paddle boards. There are numerous trails and places to enjoy nature. The roads and driveways are well plowed in winter!
All was wonderful, and as described.
Out of the way and quiet . .
I wanted quaint and got it . ..
Food was as I had expected - (I ate every night with the family) - more nutritious than the average US fare - though not what the average person may be used to. All was perfect - except for the tragedy of their much loved dog dying . .
Lovely stay from the madding crowd, thank you
The Darby's are the best. Don't miss the breakfast. Deana is tied in to the local organic community and she serves it wonderfully at breakfast.
Deana and Bruce have a lovely home with a quiet, warm energy, nestled in the New Hampshire woods. My room was comfortable and private, leaving me to do some much needed thinking and meditation. Though I didn't use the meditation room across the hall, the lovely scent of incense flowed into my room, as well. I would definitely recommend this location and would happily stay here again! My only recommendation would be to add lighting on the footpath for travelers like me who arrive in the dark (though Deana walked me up and carried my bag for me!).
Deana was delightful. Very warm and welcoming. Her breakfast was the best we had on our trip. The house was a beautiful historic home in an amazing setting. She gave us some great suggestions for hiking waterfalls, and visiting a Farm cafe. It was wonderful!! The bedroom was clean, comfortable, quiet, and small. We went into the small town of Wilton and enjoyed the local restaurant and historic movie theater. It was adorable!
Our hosts, Deana and Bruce Darby and their two daughters, made us feel unbelievably welcome. We really enjoyed staying in their beautifully furnished historic home and felt, very quickly, like members of their family. All of the sustainably raised and grown local farm fresh food was transformed into better-than-restaurant quality meals prepared primarily by Deana. Breakfasts included yogurt with fresh fruit and homemade granola, freshly baked croissants and even included a lesson in homemade chai preparation! We also opted for the family style dinners which were every bit as delicious as our breakfasts.
The entire Darby family is warm, generous and loving. They helped me look after my 18 month old daughter and I feel so delighted to have gotten the chance to live with them for 10 days and get to know them. We count them now among our dearest friends.
We felt very welcome by Deana and her family. The house is in a quiet neighborhood with plenty of nature right outside the door. The house was clean but not to the point of being cold. People and space all very relaxed.
Our room was just fine with air conditioning (as needed) and beautiful fresh flowers to brighten up the already nicely decorated room. And, the bed was comfortable!
In the morning we took a walk after a delicious breakfast. We saw beautiful waterfalls and we stumbled on a very interesting master wood carver studio. What a fun adventure!!

We live in Wilton NH. My husband Bruce is a teacher at Pine Hill Waldorf School, and my work centers around healing, specializing in end of life transitions. We moved to Southern NH from Napa CA two years ago and bought an antique house that used to be a b&b. We have two daughters 18 and 15. We love being outdoors, cooking and gardening and are actively involved in our local community.
