Stay at this forest retreat in the Ozarks not far from Eureka Springs and Table Rock Lake. Your accommodations include a queen bed in a private room. You will also have your own bathroom. In your room you will find a TV, DVD player and a CD/Radio, or you can rock in the antique rocker and read a book. Also available is the covered deck overlooking a seasonal stream and the Ozark Mountains. There is plenty of parking
If you are coming to NW Arkansas for recreational opportunity both Table Rock Lake and Beaver Lake are nearby. Fishing on the White River and Roaring River is a brief trip. I have parking that will accommodate a boat (if you are good at backing a trailer) and there are several marinas within a couple of miles.
If you are here to canoe, kayak, bike or hike I am experienced in all and offer guidance and assistance with put in and take out of canoes and kayaks. There is a charge for this service and please make a request at the time of the reservation.
Please note that the second bedroom is also my office and the bed is a queen air mattress. The second bedroom is for a third adult or up to two children. No adult couples in the second bedroom.
Finally, please read the house rule before making an inquiry or booking a room. I have specific requirements before I will book a room.
Guest will be given a 4 digit code to enter the house. It is usually the same as the last 4 digits of their phone number. The code is entered when they check in and deleted when they check out.
Interaction with Guests
I allow my guest to choose the level of interaction. Some hang out in the living room or on the deck and talk while others close the door to their room and never come out except to leave. Either and anything in between is OK with me.
The neighborhood is secluded and quiet. Only one other house is partially visible through the trees. I have no lawn, only wildflowers and native plants and trees.
There is public transportation, both bus and trolley in Eureka Springs. There is no public transportation near the house.
Common sense rules. We ask that you engage in quiet activities after 11:00 PM. Continental breakfast served between 7:00 and 9 AM. No smoking inside the house. Please do not make a mess in the common areas. Limit alcohol consumption to reasonable levels - no drunks please. No guest without clear permission from you host. Your host appreciates a general idea of return times. I do not pass out keys, instead you will be given a guest code for electronic access. The code expires about checkout time on your last day. There is no check in on Thursdays between 3:00 and 6:00 PM. I have out of the house activities during those times. Have fun.
Steven was a great host and had a great place to stay. His house is approximately a 20 minute drive outside of historic downtown Eureka Springs along Rt. 23.
When we arrived, there was ample parking for our SUV. He met us outside with Scout his dog and showed us our rooms. Everything in the house was clean to hotel standard, but very welcoming at the same time. We had our own room and our own bathroom as advertised. All amenities were included. Breakfast was fruit, yogurt, coffee, orange juice and bagels. It was perfect for us to start our day as we spent most of our time out and about in Eureka Springs.
Loved the place, would stay again.
We were welcomed upon our arrival. Steven was gracious and showed us to our room, which was clean and lovely.
We enjoyed our stay.
We have nothing but good things to say about Steven (and Scout). Warm, hospitable, interesting, you name it. His house and the room were super clean and comfortable. Steven was super helpful in helping us navigate around the Eureka Springs area as well. Overall, we had a great experience - highly recommended.
Steven was very welcoming and helpful during our stay in Eureka Springs. Everything was very clean and cozy and we were very appreciative of the hospitality! A bonus was enjoying the company of his sweet dog, Scout.
Steven was very welcoming, helpful, and available. The space was spotless and simple. Wish it was warmer outside so that we could've enjoyed the deck!
Myself along with one other guest stayed with Steven for one night. He was a very gracious host. All of our needs were met and more.Steven has lead what seems to be a very adventurous life and, if you ask, is more than willing to talk about it. Our stay was amazing. Thank you Steven!
Very cool house build out of 2 pieces stuck together. The room is private with its own bathroom. The dog is friendly and a bit lazy. Steven is a very relaxed and kind person. That and the location made this it a good time to get some rest after a week of city life. He had some good recommendations for me to do some outdoor hiking. Also the restaurant tips where welcome. Eureka springs is an interesting little town worth to visit.
I live in the Ozarks for the scenery, the recreation and the people. I am semi-retired, a fly fisherman and have a canoe. In the past I have kayaked and rafted the Colorado River in western Colorado and in the canyon lands of Utah. I rode my bicycle from Grand Junction, Colorado to Denver over 300 miles crossing two mountain passes over 12,000 ft. and one of over 11,000 ft. I have also canoed the Boundary Waters of Minnesota and Ontario, traveling over 80 miles in the process.
While not as active in these pursuits as in the past I talk a good game and if you are coming to the Ozarks for any of these activities I can give you some pointers as to where to go hiking, mountain biking, fishing and canoeing and kayaking.
My house is out in the woods, but within easy driving distance of Eureka Springs, Table Rock and Beaver Lakes. The White River and Roaring River are nearby. It is a great base camp for those who are coming to the Ozarks for recreation.
I do have one, very friendly Basset Hound who loves company. Judging by people’s reactions she is far more charming than I am. We both like guest and would enjoy having you stay with us.
