My husband and I booked an overnight getaway to Montgomery at The Lattice Inn. We honestly could not have asked for a better experience. From the beginning Jim communicated so well with us. He was even nice enough to send a detailed email in advance regarding places to eat, things to do, etc. We took a stroll through the neighborhood to the Cloverdale District and enjoyed visiting several of the shops there as well as taking in the beautiful architecture. We had a lovely dinner at Jubilee Seafood (which we HIGHLY recommend as well as Leroy just a short walk away). We stayed in the Sandpiper Suite and thoroughly enjoyed the antique claw foot tub and the extremely comfortable bedding. The Inn was impeccably clean and inviting. The morning we left Jim prepared an exquisite breakfast of quiche, biscuits, cheese grits, ham, coffee, orange juice, and muffins. Jim and his beautiful cats, Charlie and Zelda, were the perfect hosts and we hope to make stays in Montgomery and The Lattice Inn a regular occurrence.

The Lattice Inn was absolutely lovely. Jim is a wonderful host. Our room was perfect. He even had cookies for us in the evening and a welcome message spelled out in Scrable blocks on the fireplace. Just lovely!

We loved Jim's warm Southern hospitality and his beautiful home that is listed on the Historic Register. He cooked us an amazing breakfast! We also loved his two cats! Highly recommended.

Jim's place is a real bed and breakfast. The rooms are set up with everything you need and are generously sized. We even had a mini-fridge and microwave, which was nice. The bed was at least a king and was nice because everything else on our trip ended up smaller (and with being 8 months pregnant I missed our king bed at home!). Jim is very organized and an excellent innkeeper. Things were quiet the night we stayed and then in the morning Jim made us a fantastic breakfast--a real B & B breakfast--including toast from homemade bread, quiche, cheese grits, etc., etc., it was so yummy and all home-cooked. Had a great stay and would stay again.

Our stay at the Lattice Inn was really close to perfect! Jim attends to every detail; for example, he came out to meet us when we arrived, he had our names spelled out in Scrabble tiles on the mantle(!), and he inquired ahead of our arrival to be sure he knew our needs. From the cat to the billing process, everything was taken care of without a hitch. It's clear that Jim enjoys what he does and that he's had a lot of experience taking good care of his guests. Jim had a ready and cheerful answer for each of our questions. Breakfast was not only excellent eating, it was also beautifully presented. In short, Jim's preparation, attention, and location made the Lattice Inn a great place for us to relax and chill out. I wish we could've extended our stay and we hope to come again soon. We highly recommend it.

Meet the Innkeeper

Jim Yeaman came to the role of Owner and Innkeeper at The Lattice Inn after a successful career in organization management and public relations. After graduating from Auburn University with a degree in Film, Radio & TV, Jim was first associated with Auburn's Public Television and University Relations departments.
In 1968, his initial assignment in Montgomery was as the first full-time director of the City's convention and visitors bureau under the auspices of the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce.
Active over the years in several capacities in the civic and professional life of Montgomery, Jim served as President of the Montgomery Capital Rotary Club as well as Chairman of the City's Historic Development Commission. Prior to his move to Chicago in 1986, he was the CEO of Horizons Management Group, an association management company.
The 1986 move to the Chicagoland area saw Jim installed as the Associate General Secretary for Membership Services at Rotary International. In that capacity, he directed Rotary's world-wide public relations, communications and membership services operations. Prior to the acquisition of The Lattice Inn and his return to Montgomery in 2007, he was CEO of The JOY Group, a property management company that specialized in the management of small to medium sized residential condominium properties on Chicago's north shore.
