Next to Belmont University and near Vanderbilt Medical Center and University, Selah House is one block from 12 South; a favorite shopping/restaurant district. This Craftsman Style home boasts high ceilings, wood floors & fireplaces, large sitting porch, English Garden and back deck w/gazebo and fenced in backyard. With its historic details and comfortable gathering spaces, this home is perfect for families traveling together and small-group getaways. Bands have called it home while recording.

The space
There is nothing generic about this home! We have lived here 35 years and have an eclectic style with antiques, original art and numerous books and live plants. Music lovers will be delighted by the baby grand piano, upright piano and an antique pump organ and Victrola, as well as a collection of smaller instruments such as a mandolin and guitar. The 108 year old house has larger rooms than are typical in younger homes, and the 12 ft ceilings and wood floors give you room to breathe.

Visitors coming to spend time at Belmont University will be delighted to find it just across the street so you can easily access concerts at The Fisher Center, visit a student or take a campus tour, attend a basketball game, or simply meander around the manicured gardens and epic architecture. No need to search for on-campus parking...it's actually easier to walk to campus events and leave your car parked at Selah House.

We are also located just about a mile from Vanderbilt University, Vanderbilt Medical Center and it's adjacent Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital. Also about a mile the other direction is Lipscomb University.

About a block away is the trendy 12 South shopping/foodie district. From local gift shops to high-end boutiques there is truly something for everyone. And while we have everything you need to cook a Thanksgiving dinner in our kitchen, we won't blame you if you want to eat a at a differernt restaurant for each meal. From coffee shops and treats like Jeni's Ice Cream to BBQ and upscale dining options, the only difficult part about the dining scene is making a decision. Also on the 12 Ave South is the gorgeous Sevier Park with a community center gym, large playgrounds, walking trails and even a seasonal farmers' market.

Many of our guests have enjoyed family time in the house without even leaving! There are numerous games, movies, interesting books and art. The children stay entertained for hours with toys and activities in the play area, and the costumes are especially popular.

You will have use of the entire main house. This 2400 square foot space is two stories with no interior shared spaces. We have a separate-access basement apartment with sound proofing between. Additionally we have a long-term tenant that occupies a third-floor apartment above Selah House. This also has a separate, exterior access from our back patio/deck, so you may occasionally see them coming or going across the back patio space.

Guests of the Selah House also have shared use of all the exterior front and back yard space as well as the back deck/patio and back yard spaces.

PARKING: There is free street parking available in front of the house for guest use.

FLOOR-PLAN CONFIGURATION: This property includes a main floor and a second floor level.
The Main floor includes the main living room, secondary "music room" living room (with pullout couch sleeping option), full bathroom, formal dining room, office nook, full kitchen, breakfast nook, and access to the back patio/deck.
On the Second floor includes 4 bedrooms (see room tour for sleeping configurations), a full bathroom, children's play nook and another small office/art nook all connected by a wide, bright hallway.

GETTING AROUND THE AREA: Our neighborhood is highly walk-able. Visitors to Belmont or the 12 South District can enjoy walking out the front door and wherever they need to go! For thos wishing to use public transportation, Uber/Lyft rideshare are readily available as are app-based electric scooters, a metro bus system (with varied results on reliability - fair warning).
