Our cosy, comfortable & charming house, once home to the famous poet Patrick Kavanagh, is a quiet oasis of calm set in leafy Dublin 4 with the bustle of the City's finest amenities accessible just beyond the doorstep.

The Space

1,250 square feet of clean, bright, airy space in a private gated mews house in leafy Ballsbridge in Dublin 4.
This is a 2 storey recently refurbished comfortable and relaxing mews house.
The mews was originally a horse and carriage stable for a large Victorian house on Pembroke Road in the 1800’s.
Una welcomes you to this special charming house, which was once home to Ireland’s famous poet - Patrick Kavanagh. Kavanagh composed the poem Raglan Road which was adopted in song by Van Morrison among many other musicians and singers.
Una is a Dubliner and who lives nearby with her family and is available to meet, greet, welcome you and assist you to settle in and enjoy your stay in Dublin...Ireland's Capital City. This is a safe and friendly space and families are very welcome.
The Mews is on Baggot Lane, in Ballsbridge which is Ireland’s leafy embassy belt set among Georgian and Victorian Dublin.
This mews house is one the few which has some of its original coach house features including a cut limesone and granite doorcase...from its first occupants in tact. It is also one of the few buildings of historical and literary interest available for short term stays.
10% of the net proceeds from visitors staying in the Mews is given by the owners to An Taisce - Ireland’s National Trust who work on a voluntary basis to protect historical structures and the environment in Ireland.
The Mews has been decorated to take account of its Victorian past and its mid 20th century occupancy by Patrick Kavanagh, in style, furnishings and design while keeping it fresh and modern and respecting it's original layout.

Just on the doorstep are the banks of the Royal Canal, Herbert Park or Merrion Square all of which are an oasis of calm and still greenness in the city centre which inspired the writing of Kavanagh and which are easy to access if you stay here.
About the Mews: This House has two double bedrooms and a bathroom with bath and shower upstairs.
Downstairs it has a large living space accommodating a seating area, desk space, dining table, kitchen and breakfast bar with access through a patio door into a private, sunny, south facing garden. There are outdoor seats and a table for alfresco dining when weather permits.
A separate comfy chill out TV room has extensive cushioned sofa seating with views of a separate private enclosed courtyard space.
There are two further toilet spaces downstairs - one of which accommodates a laundry washing and drying facility.
While the price quoted is for four people the Mews has room to easily sleep six. There are three single sofa beds downstairs in addition to the two double beds upstairs.
These are of very high quality and are comfortable.

We have a number of great facilities for you to use and enjoy while you stay at the mews.

  • Wonderful stay at the mews. The pictures do not do the mews justice, the place is new, spotless and so comfortable in a unique setting. The greeting by Una added to the stay along with the super PDF file outlining the mews and the nearby area. Super, wish we had more time in Dublin and the mews.

  • Una is a fantastic host. The mews is a pristine home in the perfect location. We walked all over town from the front door. Una left fresh goodies in the fridge and great coffee for the morning. She was quick to respond to any questions and was thorough with information and advice for our stay.

  • Una and her place are incredible. She is incredibly detailed and communicative, and the location is great. It's far enough away from the City Centre to feel like you're not in the middle of the hustle and bustle, but close enough where it's an easy safe walk from anything you really want to get to.

Highly recommend this spot, the place has everything you need and Una provides a wealth of information if you don't know much about Dublin. I'd stay there again in a heartbeat.

About
I'm a Dubliner who loves beautiful places, spaces, music, history, art and food. I adore local places with long histories and like to get to know them. my desert island foods would be crumbly blue cheese on an oat biscuit, butter and whiskey wrapped fresh lobster and cork dry gin with slices of homegrown cucumber and ice. i cant live without good coffee and wouldn't even try. I'm currently reading Swallows and Amazons with my kids and i love it for its sense of freedom and escape. My favourite musicians are plenty - Queen, Van Morrisson, The Mumfords, Daft Punk. I believe in keeping life simple - and I fundamentally believe - the simpler, the better.
