The house is in the heart of the historical city, all sightseeings and museums are at walking distance.
It's in an old palace but the apartment has been completely renovated in 2013. it's very quiet and full of light.
I have tried to make the house special, to give it some character, hoping that you'll remember it as a nice place where you've stayed when you were in Florence. There is all comfort: a lift (very rare in the old florentine buildings), wi-fi, TV ,stereo for i pod, A.C, DVD player with movies in english, french and spanish, and the kitchen has washing machine, fridge, dish washer, micro wave. a baby crib is available. You'll find art books from the main museums and I give you all my favourite places in order you can live as locals, avoiding tourist places. For the deco, I have mixed old pieces with new ones, photos from my travels and colors are soft and pastel . On the very small balcony, there are plants. Bedsheets, towels, soaps are provided.I hope you will enjoy the house!
the house is 15 min walk from main station or 7 min by taxi. The airport is 30 min drive. If you have a car you can either put the car in a garage close to the house (€30/day) or park in the streets,10 min walk from the house.
I do the check in personally and will wait for you at the house according to your time of arrival. If it's possible, when the house is free, early check-in or late check out are not a problem. If not the check in is at 3pm and check out 11am.

I myself travel a lot and I have an idea on what people expect when they get to a new place after a trip which has not always been easy and short! Orange juice, bread, tea, coffee...will be there when you get home because the first thing you don't want to do as soon as you arrive is shopping! whatever you may need, if you tell me in advance, I can try to organize for you. If you need to do yoga, have private guided tours (english, french, italian) or learn italian cuisine (private afternoons can be organized just for you), or whatever......, just ask me!
The Santa Croce neighborhood is very typical, touristic but at the same time, very florentine; you just have to know where to go ( for ex, the best food and vegetable market in town is just there). The atmosphere changes from one street to another. The streets are narrow, typically italian, sometimes empty and just round the corner full of people! It is also there that every year, they play the traditional "calcio in costume": each part of the city participates to a soccer game with old traditional outfits and believe me, it's not for tourist attractions!the city just stops to assist to the game. It has been particularly damaged during the flood of 1966, the famous "angels of the mud" were there, trying to save the master pieces and the antique books of the public library.
In 2 words, it's an incredibly full of story neighborhood.
buses are very near
Just feel at home!
The Oasis in the Heart of Florence was exactly that! Marie was the most welcoming and informative host. The best word to describe the apartment is QUALITY: from the bedlinen to the decor; from its situation in an old building with all mod-cons, to the location within walking distance of everything a tourist could wish to visit. And a great sense of security. We were surprised and delighted by our first airbnb experience.
We had an amazing stay in Florence from start to finish. Marie was extremely welcoming and gave us some great suggestions on where to eat and visit. The flat was very stylish furnished and thoughtfully appointed with hairdryers and shower caps & cotton wool in the bathrooms. Coffee and tea were provided and extremely comfortable beds and cosy seating. The area was great, close to all the main sights on foot but far away enough to escape the crowds, and Ditta Artiginale at the end of the road served great coffee and breakfast. We all wished we could have stayed for longer! Until the next time....
L'appartement est vraiment charmant et très bien placé (rue calme, tout se fait à pied, commerces à proximité).
Marie a tout fait pour que notre séjour se passe au mieux.
Marie was the perfect host.
She was helpful with our questions before arrival, and helped us to feel at home once we got to the apartment.
She offered to help us with travel arrangements, and even booking restaurants.
Overall I could not recommend the apartment more, it was the perfect place to stay in Florence!
Thanks to Marie, we hope to be back soon.
We stayed at Marie's apartment from the 25th - 30th January. Marie is lovely and was a welcoming host.
She provided us with information on local markets, shopping and restaurant tips nearby.
She also has written down her hot tips which is well worth taking note of, as we discovered the "Bibliotech Oblate" (on Via dell' Oriuolo 26) which has a quite wonderful view of the Cathedral Dome from the first or second floor . We discovered the cafeteria on the second floor which served very tasty food at student prices!
The flat itself is as described by Marie and is homely, artistic, comfortable and clean.
A big plus at night was that you could not hear any noise at all from the street down below, so we able to sleep well under the snug duvets. The Bathroom showers worked well and provided hot water at all hours. We had a strong Wi-fi connection which was appreciated by us for e-mailing and uploading all the photographs I took on a daily basis.
We liked to head towards Santa Croce (which is a two minute walk away) in the evening and discovered some wonderful places to eat: "Ristorante La Maremma" on Via Giuseppe Verdi, 16 was wonderful as was the very trendy (it was completely full when we visited) "Dim Sum Restaurant" ( Via de Neri 37) a Chinese restaurant - which served delicious dumplings and other wholesome Chinese delicacies!
Kristine in her review below mentioned a "a bad smell that old buildings' bathrooms emit in the winter". We did not smell anything disagreeable during our stay so I don't really know where the smell was or where it came from - or went to!.
A really great location to get to all the main sights like the "Bargello", "Palazzo Vecchio", "Uffizi gallery" etc
We felt very safe walking around the local neighbourhood and we would definitely come back and stay at Marie's "Oasis".
Marie was so kind to let us in early at 1 PM ....We really enjoyed her apartment ....the location was perfect, within easy walking distance to the major sites, & everywhere we wanted to go in Florence. From Via Dei Rustici, all of the major sites were easy to walk to, the neighborhood was charming, and we felt very safe. The beds bathrooms and kitchen were great (easy to understand how to use the washing machine,) and thank you Marie for the coffee and amenities. We loved our stay in Flirence, and the old Sant Croce neighborhood ...Being in an old building made our trip unique and authentic, the only thing I would think again about was a bad smell that old buildings' bathrooms emit in the winter. Most importantly the area was very safe, the other tenants we happened to run into in the building where kind, The basics like hot water and heat were perfect, and the location was wonderful.
Our host Marie was excellent. She arranged some welcome supplies for us which was a nice touch. The apartment was in a great area and was as described in the web site. Marie also arranged a taxi to pick us up at the end of our stay. All in all a great apartment and a very welcoming host. We enjoyed our stay. In summary we were delighted with what we got from Marie.

I'm French and I have been living in Florence for a very long time (almost 30 years).
I travel a lot both for my job and my vacations. I've tried to create a space that I'd myself like to find when I am away from home.I want it very clean because I always walk bare feet, i want it with all the comfort because I don't like washing the dishes, I want it quiet because I am on vacation, I want it nice because my home is nice!
I speak French, english, italian and learning spanish because my eldest son leaves in Columbia.
I couldn't leave without my yoga and my main interest are the oriental philosophies which have taught me a lot.
