Guest access

We love San Juanillo's location for both the privacy, and proximity to so many wonderful things in our area. It is located in one of the few pacific beach areas with many rivers and unpaved roads. 7 miles to the south (20 minute drive) is Nosara, Playa Guiones, and Playa Pelada. There are many activities and amenities there to choose from, like world class surfing at Guiones, canopy tours, river and sea kayaking, or even a class at the well known Yoga Institute of Nosara. Just to the south, between us and Nosara is the 2nd largest turtle preserve in Latin America called Ostional. Ov(PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) Olive Ridley turtles come to spawn there between the months of August and March with the major migration happening in the rainy season months between October and January. The area around San Juanillo itself has many beautiful beaches surrounding it, and is home to a local population of around 300 people. A small fishing village, it has a local grocery, a couple of small bars and restaurants, but also has a very laid back feel to it unlike the surf town of Nosara. Many of the locals in Nosara actually like to come up to San Juanillo for the day to enjoy its secluded beaches. Still, there are several incredible places to eat, with access to activities like yoga, fishing, diving, sea kayaking, and horseback riding to name just a few. To the north, there is another town called Marbella that has an incredible beach with hardly any visitors as well as a surf break in front of the Tiki bar that not many even know about! It makes for a great afternoon for sure. These are just a few things we enjoy while we are staying (EMAIL HIDDEN)e check it out, and tell us what you think.

A GREAT vacation experience! From booking to check-out, Steven was an exceptional host: clear directions through unmarked country roads got us there with zero problems. He asked the local restaurant to stay open a bit late for us so we could get some food before turning in for the first night after a long travel day. He had several very good recommendations and local connections to activities. The property itself was just incredible. Proximity to downtown Nosara was great but also afforded a sense of pleasant insulation from touristy kitsch. The local (San Juanillo) minimart was extremely well stocked, there were two excellent local beaches with all the amenities, a super farm-to-table breakfast and lunch place in addition to the bigger restaurant...really no reason to leave San Juanillo if you want to avoid driving the dirt roads. Easy access to first rate surfing in Mar Bella and also for beginners in Nosara. One of the best trips we've ever taken.

It is amazing!! If you're looking for something private and far away from the noise of the city this is your place. It is a fully equipped house with a super audio system and a great pool!! Steven is always available if you need something. Just one advice: you will need a four wheel drive vehicle to get there.

We stayed for five nights at this beautiful house. It truly has amazing 360 degree views and is located in a very quiet neighbourhood. Great kitchen and plenty amenities. There was five of us staying here, two couples and a single all able to have our own ensuite and privacy. The house is very clean, well stocked and has a great sound system. It's about a 10-15 minute drive to the beach which hardly had a soul on it and about 30 minutes to Nosara. The whole area was beautiful. We even seen monkeys from the pool side. The host Steven was very helpful and friendly. We could always reach him if we needed something and he checked in to see if we needed anything often. I would definitely recommend staying at this house.

Response from Steven:
Unfortunately, Juan Pablo was not a good guest because he left the home in a total disaster and did not clean up after himself and his three dogs. Not to mention he failed to tell me he was bringing two cats! He is now disgruntled because of an extra cleaning charge that I rightfully requested. For this reason he did not leave a good review. I would not recommend Juan Pablo as your next guest!
