Yolanda's apartment was like an Oasis for me* I came a bit weakened and tired from the travel and staying in not very clean hostels. Yolanda's place is in residential area, apartment is very bright and warm and the room just perfect - comfy bed with a cousy white beddings and white terry towel - luxury for a backpacker in Peru :-)
On the top of all Yolanda is super likeable young lady, very open-minded and helpful. I was happy to choose Yolanda's room and in addition for a great value! I can honestly recommend this welcoming place* Thank you Yolanda for your help and pleasant chat :-)
Yoli was very sweet and helpful. We had some trouble connecting for check-in, and ended up having to stay somewhere else the first night, but she came and picked us up the 2nd night and helped us get settled in. We had hoped for 2 rooms and ended up with one, which was ok. Private bathroom. This would have been a nice place to rent for a bit longer stay!
I came to Yolandas place after having travling for a few weeks and needed to get back to work, so I holed myself up in Yolanda's place and went to work. It fit my needs perfectly. It was a clean apartment, with a nice bed, electric showerhead, and full kitchen. Her other tenants weren't really there much so it felt like I had the place to myself.
If you want to stay right downtown, this is not the place for you, but if you don't mind taking a cheap taxi to the center of town and sleeping in a quiet neighborhood, this may be your spot.
Yolanda is fantastic herself, she took me downtown with her and showed me some of her spots while she was running her errands.
Wifi was good and they even have a little store in her apartment complex.
Overall, I would stay there again definitely.
In the end we did not stay there for the location was different from the location which was shown by Airbnb. It would have meant a busnride of 6 hours from Arequipa where we just arrived after a 15 hour bus ride from Lima. So please advertise with the correct location on the Airbnb map...
Wonderful and quite place, exactly, that I needed for holidays. Also, the apartment was clean and near to Arequipa Center, great location. I was a little worried about my reservation, but the hostess Yolanda was amazing and I could trust her. Thank you soooo much and I hope there will be a place for next time. That was an excellent idea to get a room from Airbnb.
Yolanda provided a great place to stay in Arequipa. It is secure within an easy taxi/bus ride to the centre. My small family was made to feel at home in a very friendly atmosphere. I would certainly come again.
Excelente opción de alojamiento en Arequipa.
Amplio departamento, limpio con wifi y cable.
A 5 minutos del centro historico en taxi.
Todo funcionó perfecto.
Llahuar is located in a beautiful area in the bottom of the canyon next to a rocky but swimmable river. The weather was hot during the day (30C) and chilly at night (13C) in early August. We spent our two nights in two different cabins so we could be closer to the main kitchen space and bathrooms on the second night. Both cabins were nice, although each (we looked at a bunch) is slightly different in style, mattress type, lighting, flooring (most have dirt floors), etc. Check a few out before choosing where to spend the night. They are rustic but clean, and bugs weren't a problem.
The hot spring pools are perfect for relaxing after the long hike, and are situated right next to the river, allowing for a quick dip in the river to cool off before jumping back into the thermal pools (the hottest was about 41C).
The food was excellent! Be sure to eat their home-cooked meals. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were all great, with generous helpings. Extra snacks for purchase were limited though, so if you're planning to continue trekking for a few days afterward, bring snacks from Cabanaconde or ask the kitchen to make hard-boiled eggs for the road.
The kitchen and other staff were extremely friendly and helpful, ready to accomodate our request to change rooms and even made pancakes with margarine instead of butter upon request so that I (dairy allergy) could enjoy the pancake breakfast.
Of note: the trek in the canyon is difficult, and seems to take everyone at least 3.5 hours on the way down, and 4.5 on the way up. We'd suggest you start early (before 7am)- the sun makes the trek difficult in the middle of the day. Llahuar is absolutely worth the hike, but we would have loved to stay even longer to take advantage of the space, food, and recharge a bit more before hiking back out of the canyon.
Yolanda provided a safe location that was clean and quiet.
