In the heart of Rome, just next to palatine, circus maximum and caracalla's therms, but even very close to Testaccio's nightlife.
I rent rooms with private bathroom and independent entrance.
The place is quiet, central, very well connected by buses and tube (line B).
The room is situated at the first floor, I live downstairs, at the ground floor; the entrance is private, from the terrace. The terrace is connected to the exit by a spiral staircase, the one you can see in the pictures! I can say proudly that it's a quite "unique" place, but also, it is not always maximum comfort, so I can suggest it for sporty persons!
The room is nice, little and clean with TV, air conditioning, heating, and a confortable bed!
The bathroom is located just outside the room, you have to make a step into the common space to get inside it!
The common area is provided with a fridge and a boiler. There are also some tables and stools were you can have a brake drinking a nice tea when you wish it, and why not, meeting the other guests! But sorry, no kitchen..
You can consult some Rome guides and a tips book that has been written by the persons who has been here before you!
Thanks Caterina, great location and very comfortable stay!
The room was perfect for me (travelling alone), and was very close to the metro (Piramide station), and the train station that connects to Fiumicino (Ostiense station). I was able to walk to Circus Maximus, Palatino, The Roman Forum and the Colosseum (though I could have easily taken the metro as well). Caterina was a friendly, kind, and helpful host… I would stay with her again! The only suggestion that I would make to other travellers is to be aware that while Caterina's location makes very easy access to the rest of Rome, getting to her place requires walking up stairs and would not be suitable for someone who is in poor health. Overall, a fantastic experience with Caterina :)
I can fully recommend Caterina's place. Everything from bed to the towels was complete and seamlessly arranged, when I arrived. The place has a beautiful terrace in a garden and the area is quiet and yet central. I stayed for a couple of days and there is a great notebook filled with recommendations for dining out and shared experiences for tourist locations of others who stayed there. I would book again if I should come back to Rome one day.
Full recommend, The location couldnt be more convenient.
The place is cozy, clean and the neighborhood is very charming.
caterina was very kind and helpfull with tips to go around the city.
Excellent hostess. Very friendly and helpful. The location is great, in a very quiet area, with a supermarket, restaurants and metro station nearby.
It is very excellent room with romantic stairs. Good location, very comfortable. There is mercato near station with fruits and vegetables
Caterina’s place is in one of the best – maybe THE best neighbourhood in Rome. A world removed from the noisy hustle and bustle of the city (motorized traffic, tourists) it is a true oasis of calm, quiet streets, with plenty of trees and walls overgrown with bougainvillea. All of this is topped off by a beautiful park encircled by traditional (in the best sense of the word!) Italian shops (Bakery, fruit vendors, over-the-counter-pizza place, etc.).
The rooms Caterina is renting out are on the top floor of a small building set back from the street and surrounded by trees. While the room I rented is small and sparsely furnished (as can be seen in the picture) it had everything I needed (air-conditioning, WiFi,...) and both the room/bathroom, and the (very small) common area were clean. Communication with the host was unproblematic and Caterina was very accommodating with check-in and check-out times.
As other visitors have mentioned, and as Caterina mentions herself in her description, the price to pay for all of this is the ‘climb’ from the closest main street to the top of the small hill the property is located on, plus the narrow, spiralling staircase you need to use to get to your room itself (cf. picture). I found out during my stay that it would be possible to use a bus to get to the top of the hill at least one way (i.e. when coming from the Pyramide metro station) - but the bus system in Rome is probably too difficult to navigate for someone who just arrived, so in the end you're better off walking/climbing the stairs.
Overall, Caterina’s place offers value for money that is hard to beat if location is more important to you (as it is for me) than space/luxury in the room itself.
Had a wonderful stay at Caterina's place. She was welcoming and even waited for me outside the apartment when my plane was 3 hours late. Air conditioning was great! Cable didn't work but I shouldn't be inside watching TV anyhow. 10-15 min walk to the Coliseum, 5 min walk to the Metro. Will definitely come back!
