Experience the magic of the marrakech old medina from the other side! Situated in the heart of Marrakech is our private riads. You will experience a taste of culture mixed with some moroccan spirit and just a twist of european style!
Our riad (moroccan house) is beautifully decorated in a very tradition style. All the walls and floors are covered in beautifully decorated tiles. Just beyond the front door is a small water fountain which creates a relaxing atmosphere and is very usual of old moroccan houses. The sitting area is typically moroccan style and has hosted many shared moroccan meals with tourists, friends and family.
All the rooms have their own private bathroom and typical moroccan style doors!
Within a few minutes walk you will reach an area of more gardens and 3 swimming pools! There is a few small shops that sell fresh bread everyday (with fixed prices), a pizzaria, a coffee and free wifi!
Guests have access to a relaxing terrace with views of the atlas mountains, 3 swimming pools, beautiful gardens, little shops, cafe with wifi. In the Riad there is a kitchen if you would like to have a cooking lesson with us. There is a roof terrace which you can sit in and catch the sun, for sunbathing, eating and barbecues. There are gardens, trees and flowers surrounding the whole area of private riads and around the swimming pool area. This seems a funny thing to share but in Marrakech areas of garden are a haven in the heat as they bring a fresh wanted coolness.
We enjoy interacting with our guests, sharing stories, giving information and guidance about staying in morocco, the best trips etc. On a friday it is Cous Cous day. If all goes according to our schedule we like to prepare and share the experience of eating as a moroccan family with our guests if your around. Please ask and we let you know.
If you have any problems, queries or concerns please let us know in advance of your stay and during your stay please do not hesitate to discuss anything. We want to make you feel as comforable as possible so that your stay is one of the best memories that you take with you.
We run moroccan cooking lessons with a traditional moroccan chef. We will take you to the market to buy vegetables and meat, then return to cook a tangine the traditional way on hot coals. Its a fun lesson and a fantastic way to spend an evening in Marrakech. A unique experience cooking and eating outside in the fresh air (weather permitting of course!) There is an additional charge for this but way cheaper then any cooking class you would find anywhere else!
If you want to smoke a shisha pipe while your staying with us this can also be arranged. We have a few flavours to choose from and we charge for a group of people 50dhms per head. In the medina you will be charged 100dhms upwards. We have a moroccan chill area where you can smoke or on the terrace.
We can take you to a real local moroccan hammam where you will have a real traditional scrub not touristic at all! In addition we have a local massage therapist professionally trained who can give you the spa treatment in the comfort of your own room. So total relaxment!
We are situated in a typical moroccan but 'private' area for families that is only accessable to guests and residents of the area. This allows a feeling of comfort knowing that you can walk freely around enjoying the area without being approached or hassled by sellers. Instead you get to experience the moroccan daily life passing you by but still have that interaction with other tourists. The riads are actually a haven for relaxation and chilling after walking around and experiencing the hustle and bustle of the marrakech souks and medina.
The riads are situated 5 minutes from the bab Khemis market which happens every Thursday and Sunday and is famous for getting bargains and a few people have even bought a few antiques!
The residents in this private area are very friendly and like to chat and share moroccan tea or a meal at a given opportunity.
You are within walking distance of all the touristic sights including Jardin Marjorelle, The Tanneries, maison de photography, La Koutoubia, Jemma Fna Square, School of Ben Youseff, Bab Khemis Market, Bahia Palace, The Tombs of the Saidens. You are also within a 5 minute taxi ride to the beautiful palmaraie area where you can go quad biking, camel riding. visit the museum of marrakech or go and play golf! Also in this area you will find some great evening entertainment with a brazillian restaurant, a shisha lounge and a spanish tapas bar all of which have live music.
The best way to discover Marrakech is to go out and get lost in the maze of streets, sights of interest, shops, cafes and markets.
You ARE situated in the old medina but not in the 'Jemma Fna Square' which many people associate with just being 'the old medina'. The medina actually covers a very wide area that includes the area here where the riad is situated. Literally just across the road from the private riad complex is the old wall with the big arched doorways that contained original Marrakech and hidden within are the winding streets and alleys containing interesting souks, shops, touristic places of interest, bars, restaurants and more which can mainly be reached by walking but you can take a taxi or even a bus to some place. There are also horse and carriages in Marrakech which is a lovely way to see the city both old and new.
We can help with tours to the desert, Essaouira and the cascades, plus trekking as we deal with a good company who keeps his prices real.
We have all the information for transport within the city.
We can also help you hire a car or scooter for travel around marrakech and morocco
All bedrooms have their own private bathroom with a shower providing hot water using an immersion heater. We provide towels and bedding. We are happy to change these during the week if your staying for more than 5 days but please if you need clean ones before then let us know!
There is WIFI within the Riad which can be used throughout even on the terrace!
A light breakfast is available at 9.30 on monday to friday and 10.30am on Saturday. We do not serve breakfast on a Sunday. Breakfast is traditional moroccan style with mint tea and may include fresh bread, moroccan pastrys, moroccan breakfast soup, fresh fruit or yoghurt. We serve different things at different times of year
We do have a tiny dog called Coco (a mini teckel) who we rescued from a shelter. He is still new to this world so is learning about life and people. Yes he barks at new things but this is quickly forgotten when you experience his cute, fun, crazy side! Let us know if this would be an issue for you as we would never want this to effect your stay.
For tours - We make sure we only use companies that provide our guests with enjoyable trips. As this is morocco though and is not inline with european/america customer service training there may be some parts of the trip that do not reach your expectations. We welcome feedback and ensure we deal with any issues you may have.
Please note the pool is heated only from the sun! In the summer this is of course excellent as you have a nice cool pool during the morning and a warm pool during the afternoon. However in the winter months (November- February) the pool is not suitable for swimming and during this period the pool may be emptied in order to be cleaned for the next season. However the sun is always shining in Marrakech and so you can still relax and chill by the pool as it is surrounded by beautiful gardens and is very quiet and relaxing. The pool is generally open from 9am until 6/7pm everyday from around late March/ early April. However this is subject to change depending on what is happening in Morocco! As we say here 'this is morocco (T.I.M) anything can happen!' Please contact us at the time of booking to confirm the status of the pool.
Smoking is not permitted within the riad anywhere except outside or on the terrace.

We spend 7 nights in Karim's Riad and had a very good time in Marrakech. The Riad is really comfortable and calm – perfect after a long, exciting and turbulent day in Marrakech. In the morning we got a tasty breakfast from Karim and Debbie and also some helpful tips around Marrakech. Thank you again!
Staying at Karim and Debbie was a true pleasure! We felt like staying at friends, we had a lot of laughs together and they gave us a lot of usefull information.
Their place is convinient situated right outside of the old medina, which makes it a nice, quiet and easy to find (!!) place to relax. I would recommend this place to everyone!
Me and my friend stayed in Karims house for two days. It was a really pleasant stay, very relaxed and we got some nice tips about how to explore marrakech :) In Karims Riad, there are two guestrooms, so it's possible you meet some other nice travellers. The atmosphere in the house is great, Karim and his wife help you whenever you need it and are very easygoing hosts. We enjoyed our trip to marrakesh and would recomment to stay in Karims Riad :)
Karim and Debbie are two of the chillest people I have met on my trip. The place is beautiful and in a nice safe neighborhood with a gate. The wifi is fast and the morning tea is super yummy. Plus Karim can help you with where to go in the Medina which is super close to the riad. You can walk to everything including the new city and of course the famous square. Great price so give em a visit. :)
Okay...so this is my first time abroad, let alone the first time reviewing somewhere, I have stayed abroad.
Can I just say my 3 week stay was excellent.
Debbie and Karim are great hosts who do more than the need to, to help.
The atmosphere was very upbeat for mid winter, I can't wait to see what a great time can be had in the summer.
Xmas dinner, party and 3 courses for new years, cooking lessons, salsa dancing, always invited in on the action when around the house.
Marrakech is a must see/do place for anyone!
That's all from me for now, I don't want to get all soppy :(
Miss everyone who I met along the way.
My email is (email hidden),
or Michael Kousiounis on (website hidden), if anyone's interested.
Staying in this place is highly recommend! Karim and Debbie were great, warm, and welcoming hosts. The double bed was big and comfortable though the room was a bit cold. But this was expected as I stayed here in December. Debbie and Karim provided extra blankets if needed. They also organised an amazing Christmas dinner and invited everyone who was staying with them at the time. Again, highly recommended!
Good hosts and a good riad located outside of the chaos of the medina.
Cabs in this city are very cheap so save your walking for when you are dropped off to wherever your days' plans take you.
For internet connection, there is a good cafe near the riad open all day.
Thanks for the good stay Karim and Debbie and I'll keep you on my radar.
I had a great time staying with Debbie and Karim, who were both great hosts along with their extremely friendly dog Koko. Unfortunately I didn't get the opportunity to get a taste of Karim's tajines, however I heard great things from other guests so hopefully next time! The riad is located in a safe and cosy neighbourhood with plenty of local resources which save having to walk into the centre for simple goods. It's located just outside of the medina and is walking distance from the centre (Jemma el fna square) but beware of the maze like streets en route. I hope to return to Marrakech again in the future and I'll definitely return to Karim's and make the most of his local contacts and knowledge! Thanks for having me guys and hope to see you again soon!
See you next time Karim. I will come back.
My stay at Karim and Debbies Riad in Marrakesh was excellent and very enjoyable.
They are both very nice and professional people you can trust and the Riad is beautiful. The bed is very comfortable.
There are grocery stores, a pharmacy and an internet cafe 3 minutes walk away.
A short taxi ride will take you to the Djemaa el Fna.
