This 2 Bedroom Home has an amazing view of Drake Bay and is within easy walking distance to mini markets and restaurants. Tours to anywhere in the area can be easily arranged with nearby tour operators.
Get a whole house for the price of a hotel room!
Cook your own meals and dine with the birds and amazing views.
Stay in the village and meet locals.
All windows fully screened. Free WIFI and a nicely equipped kitchen.
We can meet you at the beach if you arrive by boat from Sierpe. You can also fly in to the nearby Drake Airport on either Sansa Airlines or Nature Air Airlines. In the rainy season it is very difficult, if not impossible, to drive to Drake because of steep mountain roads and a river to ford. From late December to late August driving to Drake is possible, a 4X4 is best. The last gas station is at Chacarita, where you turn off the Interamerican Highway. It is best if you call ahead for road conditions. Secure off street parking is available. We'll get you settled and we will explain the layout of the town and options for local tours etc. We are always in the next house in case you need something or for an emergency.
Bahia Drake is a small village. No Starbucks, no traffic, and no worries.
There is also no bank or ATM, so plan accordingly!!
There are 8 small restaurants and 2 small super markets within walking distance. Offering typical Costa Rican fare, seafood, pizza, chicken, etc.
Walk or take a 4x4 taxi if necessary. Rides are $6-10 to anywhere nearby.
We recommend booking any tours directly with a nearby tour operator. They are the same price as everyone and also offer tours run by locals. Help support the local economy of Drake Bay.
No Smoking in the house.
No Pets allowed
We stayed at Bob's place for 2 nights. His place was very comfortable and had everything you need, specially the hammocks on the porch were you can lay down and admire the beautiful views of the bay. Bob was very helpful, he picked up my mothers suitcase from the boat wile we were out enjoying the beach. We had a great time at BOb's place!
Perfect place to stay while in Drake Bay! Ideal location--only a few minutes walk to the beach and the village center, but still very quiet and peaceful. The house is spacious, clean, and very well equipped. The private backyard offers stunning views of the bay from up high and the hammocks are wonderful to relax in and enjoy the birds, the greenery, and the ocean. Bob and Hank were great hosts. Book it, you won't regret it!
Location…Location…Location…This place has awesome views. Bob & Hank were great hosts. Bob even met us at the beach when our boat arrived. Since they live next door, they were easily available to help us in whatever we needed. They recommended activities and restaurants. We loved to relax in the hammocks for afternoon siestas, and listen to the macaws in tree. Hank talked about putting in air conditioning in the near future …which would be nice. But the fans worked fine for now. This is definitely a place where you can just go at a slow pace and relax.

Bob and Hank were great hosts. They gave us good tips on where to eat in town, which was only steps away. We spent hours in the backyard lounging in hammocks looking at the sea. What a beautiful area with birds and wildlife. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants peace and quiet.
My husband and I stayed at Binya house for 2 nights before moving on to a lodge in the area.
Location was great, the house is perched up on a hill in the centre of town, and is a short walk to the beach, and close to the two supermarkets and restaurants.
The house is simple, clean and spacious with a private backyard and has an impressive view of the bay. The hammocks are a nice touch.
We never actually met Aaron but the neighbour Hank greeted us upon arrival and showed us around. He even introduced us to some tour operators close by and answered all of our questions. My husband and I were joking that he may actually be Aaron in disguise but it appears from other reviews people have actually met the infamous Aaron ;) in the end it didn't matter, we had a fantastic time there. In fact out of the three airbnb rentals we used in Costa Rica, this was my husband's favourite. We highly recommend this place.
Prepare to wake up at sunrise with the birds but I am glad we did since two macaws landed in the backyard for their breakfast.
Aaron was a great host, and his neighbor Hank gets a lot of credit for helping me out when my girlfriend and I stayed in the Binya house. Aaron swung by, gave us ideas of things to do, offered to help set them up, and even invited us out to a few outings with his friends. Between him and Hank (who brought over freshly caught mahi mahi one evening!) we felt very welcome.
The house is a very short walk up a dirt hill when you land on the beach, and it really puts you into the middle of this small town. A few restaurants are available, and the grocery store is a 2 minute walk away (and they accept credit cards which is nice). We found a really great new restaurant about 10 minutes away called Drake Bay Cafe, check it out if you're there!
The house itself is small and cozy, and it doesn't have A/C so just prepare yourselves for some warm nights sleeping. Its a pretty basic house with a couple of single arm chairs, a kitchen area, 2 bedrooms with a bed in it, a bathroom with a shower, and a couple of hammocks in the small backyard. There is not much to do at the house itself, so I wouldn't plan on spending too much time there. However, they are working on upgrading it and Hank says they hope to have A/C soon, so make sure to check on that status! Also something to keep in mind is that the house does have wifi, but it does go in and out a lot so make sure you have your situations all in order when you arrive, just in case you dont have wifi when you need it. And hopefully you like geckos, because you will see a lot of them :) As well as parrots, iguanas, more birds than I can count, and one particularly cute black puppy that kept visiting us. He almost came home with us.
Other than that, come and enjoy the location, the scenery, and seeing a side of Costa Rica that you might not get to normally see! This location is great, but its very dependent on tours to have something to do and you really are isolated from most things. Make sure you bring cash to the location because there are no ATMs in this town. Bring some games to play at night, and have your adventures during the day and you will have a great time.
