Our reviews and 5 star rating tell the story of our bnb. Above all you will feel welcome at Kingfishers Perch. We are central to the North fork of the Alsea river. Swimming and trout fishing in the summer, steelhead fishing in the winter. We are also located near popular wedding venues. Walk off our property onto Clemens Park and its riverside trail. Sitting around our fire pit makes evenings especially memorable. You'll find our spacious guest suite cozy and comfortable.

The space
The term "private room" doesn't really apply to our bnb space. There are four rooms that are separated by doors. The entrance area is a large single car garage area where guests often store things like mountain bikes, fishing gear, extra luggage, etc. This room also has a full size refrigerator as well as access to a treadmill, rowing machine and stationary bike. During steelhead fishing season we've also had guests sleeping in this area.
The food area is a small private room with three doors leading to the other rooms of the bnb area. Our permitting does not allow us to have a full kitchen so there is no kitchen sink(but we wash all of your dishes) or range with range hood. There is a microwave and toaster. Out on the covered deck are gas bbq, gas griddle, electric skillet and hot plate.
The bathroom includes shower, vanity and washer and dryer. This area also has access to the deck.
The main bedroom is oversized and includes a small library, 50" tv with cable, Netflix, etc. There is a table with chairs, futon ,and well stocked game and dvd cabinet. We have wi fi coverage in all of these areas as well as out on the deck.

Where you’ll be

Alsea, Oregon, United States

A rural neighborhood. One of a kind location, with unique river access which allows for swimming and trout fishing in the summer or steelhead fishing in the winter. A short drive to OSU related activities. One hour to U of O. Only 20 minutes to Mary's Peak hiking or awesome mountain biking and hiking at Alsea River Falls Recreation area. Less than an hour to the beach. But above all else our Bnb is a great place to hang out and relax. Walk off of our property into Clemans park which has a one mile plus riverside hiking trail.

Myself and wife Shannon retired to the North Fork of the Alsea a few years back. After spending the previous 15 years in the high desert of Oregon we still marvel at how green and "alive" things are here on the Alsea.
One of the things we enjoy most about living here is the proximity of a small county park, we can literally walk off our property directly onto park property and the mile of nature trails within the park. And then there is the river. Raging in the winter, calm and quiet in the Summer, with its salmon, steelhead, crawfish, trout, etc.
You might see Kingfishers, green and blue herons, mergansers with their ducklings, bald eagles, pileated woodpeckers and dozens more. If that's not enough for most nature lovers, we have a resident family of otters that swim by on occasion.

In the past our family has traveled to many of the Hawaiian islands, parts of Mexico and Canada. We also have enjoyed visiting the southern US and upper midwest.
We love cooking, and during even the rainiest parts of the winter we can be found out on the deck grilling meat or veggies. We hope guests will be inclined to do the same.

After living here for a couple years we thought "it seems kind of selfish to be living in such a beautiful location and not share it with others ". So we thought this place needs a name, we became Kingfishers Perch; named for the bird we would see daily on the river.
Our hosting style is laid back. We will greet our guests , show them the accommodations and then respect their privacy. We will try to make your stay whatever you want it to be, whether you are here to fish, hike, bike, or just relax in our beautiful setting.
