A lovely oasis in a quiet neighborhood about a ten minute walk from the center of town. Chris and the staff made us feel at home and had great travel tips. The pool was refreshing on hot days. Loved our stay. Gracias amigos!
Miss Margrits is a gorgeous oasis. My room was immaculate and very nicely furnished. There is a kitchen for common use in the garden and lots of comfy lounging spots all around. I felt like I was seriously on vacation while at Miss Margrits. The staff was extremely helpful, thoughtful, and friendly.
The reservation was canceled 136 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Almost speechless, not knowing where to begin. From the communication before our arrival, to accommodating a delayed flight causing a delayed arrival, to making sure we had a "ride" from the airport, to meeting us in the entry way as we exited the car....Chris was terrific. His team, Monica and Rosa, were a delight, didn't hesitate to make recommendations for things to do, plus made the arrangements by making the right calls to the right people, we felt so welcome from the moment we walked into Miss Margrits Colonial Paradise. Breakfast was a celebration of new friends, all strangers, all new friends. We were made to feel by everyone including the cat and dog (though, both will soon adopt you as theirs....). Every activity that they recommended, and arranged on our behalf, was outstanding. And, we left, already planning a return visit. Right up to our last night, when Rosa, the "manager on duty" made us breakfast sandwiches that we could take on our early morning bus trip to Costa Rica the next morning. If you go, get the massage, take the lake tour with Vlad, and chill at the lagoon. And....enjoy being home amongst friends while you are at the house.....
We stayed for a week at Miss Margrit's in Granada, and from start to finish, we were very impressed by the accomodations and service here.
Chris (and Rosa) were around for a good portion of each day, making sure that we had whatever we needed and giving us some great recommendations on things to do in the area. They really know their way around Granada, especially when it comes to dining.
The room itself was lovely. A large, comfortable bed. Hardwood floors that smelled of cedar. A beautiful bathroom and shower with water that was steaming hot (if you like it that way!) The high ceilings just added to the feeling of luxury here.
The common area was beautiful as well. The garden here is maintained daily, and it shows. Along with a pool, plenty of chairs and sofas to relax, and a full kitchen, we spent a lot of time here relaxing after a long day in Granada.
The home-cooked breakfasts were delicious. Eggs, bacon, toast, coffee, juice, fruit -- they really go out of their way here to make you happy (and full!) We only missed one breakfast, and that was because we had an early tour that had us out the door with no time to spare.
The house itself is set back a few blocks from the central park in Granada, which for us was a good thing. The neighborhood is friendly, there is a convenience store right next door, a pharmacy half a block away, and fritanga right around the corner. The 5-10 minute walk to the park goes quickly, and we prefer being a few blocks away from the main strip where it is usually a bit quieter.
In all, we had a fantastic experience here and would surely stay here again when we return to Granada. Chris, Rosa, and the staff of Miss Margrit's were some of the nicest people we met in Granada, and the pictures don't really do justice to the beauty of this property. Highly recommended.
Our recent week long stay was an extremely positive experience from beginning to end. The physical space of Miss Margrits was beautiful and restful, providing many different nooks and crannies to hang out in, snooze, socialize or swim, according to your whim. Our private room and "terrarium " bath was a lovely haven when we needed to get away in the AC. The neighborhood is what I imagine is a typical Latin/urban hood with a mix of people, businesses and traffic, within easy walking to the Parque Central. We followed reasonable precautions which you would employ anywhere and always felt safe. Almost without exception, people (both citizens and travelers) were friendly, helpful, kind and funny. Christopher and Margrit and their staff were very welcoming and attentive, and kept us going through a couple of health blips my husband and I each had! We were both extremely grateful for assistance rendered, and feel they went above and beyond what a simple proprietor would be committed to do. Plus they have pets there, and the breakfasts were great! So indeed, this place for us was truly a home away from home.
We stayed at Miss Magrits for three nights and were very happy we found it! We were greeted by Rosa who showed us to our room and gave us a map and answered a few of our questions. After a few conversations with Chris, it is obvious that he really cares about the place that he and his mum built and that he cares about his guests.
This colonial style house is beautiful and very well maintained. We enjoyed the experience of feeling like we were in a home rather than a hotel. There is no reception area, but there is a small desk. The breakfast area is a dining table adjacent to the open- air kitchen on which a place setting is placed for each guest. We really enjoyed meeting other travelers around the table before starting our day. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious with good coffee, fresh juice and fresh fruit waiting on the table. Individual orders for eggs, etc., were then taken.
There is a library with ample books, a beautiful courtyard with fountain and in the inner courtyard there is a good-sized pool that we enjoyed after a day out and around.
We stayed in room 3 which was made up with king-sized bed and had a lovely private seating area in an alcove just outside the room. The air-conditioning worked very well and there was a small, but efficient, standing floor fan that was good at night when we didn't need the a/c. There were 3 rooms in the section where we stayed with a common seating area and with a wonderful constant breeze while we were there.
Staying at Miss Magrits was truly a wonderful experience and we highly recommend it!
