It was a gated neighborhood. The accommodations were exactly as pictures. Follow his instructions on printing out a map for the taxi drivers, we got lost and had to call for directions.
Ronald left information on the city and some waters in the kitchen. Our flight wasn't until later that night, so we requested to leave our bags there while we explored the city. He was very nice and allowed us to do so.
I stayed at Ronald's for a night before catching a morning flight to Cusco from the Lima airport. The apartment was clean and had a nice kitchen. The beds were comfortable, the showers were hot, and the location was convenient to the airport. I would recommend this place to those who have a day or two in Lima between flights.
Ronald is AMAZING! He arranged taxis for us and told us the cost in soles and USD. When the taxis driver tried to charge us more, we knew we were getting screwed and paid the price Ronald told us.
He also was great when our flight came in 4 hours late due to weather.
Ronald is a nice, honest and warm person. I recommend his place if you just need a place to crash before your next flight. Showers had hot water as well!
Ronald was a great host! My fiancé and I were only in Lima for 1 night and needed an easy, affordable, and comfortable place to stay. Our flight got in a few hours late but Ronald met us when we arrived to let us in. The place has everything you could need and is accurately described: hot shower, shampoo/soap, kitchen amenities, etc... He even left us a few things in the fridge to eat such as soda, eggs, bottled water, and some hot cocoa mix. Very thoughtful. After he showed us the place, he took us to the roof of the apartment complex so that we could see the city and he could point out some areas of interest for exploring. He was very helpful with answering our questions. His family lives in the same apartment complex, on a lower level, and everyone is willing to help should you need anything. On the day we left, Ronald's brother Oscar walked with us across the street to help us hail a cab to the airport so that we wouldn't get swindled!
***Tip*** - cab drivers at the airport will tell you it costs WAY MORE than it actually does to get around if you look like a tourist. We paid 90 soles for our 13 min trip to Ronald's place, which we quickly learned was outrageous! We ended up getting a cab back to the airport for 18 soles the next morning. You've been warned. I recommend asking your host in advance what a good price is so that you're not so easily taken advantage of when the time comes.
Summary - great apartment, lovely hosts!
Amazingly friendly! Ronald was kind enough to let us back in when we were locked out and had a amicable demeanor that definitely made our stay even better.
Logistics are perfect and Ronald showed me around the downtown Lima. I should have told him my requests earlier (pickup service), but in general it's quite good...
Ronald was an excellent host- one of the best I've experienced. He was quick to communicate, and even showed me around some of the historic center of Lima, which gave me a good opportunity to practice my Spanish with him. The apartment was as pictured and everyone in his family was very nice. You'll need to take a taxi to see the major sites of Lima, but there are plenty if you stand by the road right outside of the gate. Highly recommended!

About the Host, Ronald
My family and I are opening our house to travelers. We like to interact with people from different cultural background and make our airbnb guests feel as they are part of our family.
We also would like to share what we know about Lima and where to go in Lima. This cultural exchange gives us the opportunity to tell you who we are. We like to keep contact with international people and hear things about their travelings.
We offer you a safe, quiet, and nice environment.
Some advantages of my home are:
My house is well located between the Lima International Airport and Downtown Lima. We are 15-20 minutes by taxi to downtown Lima. Some places, we suggest, to see in downtown are:
- Cathedral of Lima (Catacombs of Lima)
- The Franciscan Monastery
- The Government Palace
- Malecon del Rio (Pier of the river)
You can also take the panoramic bus and you can compare the old Lima and new Lima, that has over 8 million inhabitants. We can consider it as a busy city.
Peru is three times the size of California. So you have a lot to see other than Cusco and Puno.
If you like eating, you should check out Peru’s annual food festival in Lima, Mistura, (more than 300,000 attendees). The next one is in September 2015. You can spend all day in this huge fair. Seafood, Steaks, rotisserie chicken, pork and lamb (and many vegetarian options too!).
Drinks like Pisco Sour, Purple Corn juice (Chicha Morada) and Fermented Corn juice (also called Peruvian/Inca beer) or Chicha de Jora are a must.
Desserts made of dark chocolate, rice pudding with purple corn pudding, and ice creams like Zambito are just delicious.
