Hemingway would have felt at home in this beauty of a cottage. Ideal to slow down and relax as there is only a bit of Merengue and Bachata music in the distance or the sound of animals. Will stay there again!

The house was just perfect for a relax Las Terrenas holiday. We were there as a couple for a week and very much enjoyed our stay at Yanis and Pablo's. The bed is very confortable and even though we were there in August, the fan is strong enough that we weren't hot and slept very well. The little woodden terrasse is large and pleasant, and as everyone mentioned we also loved the outside shower ! There is hot water for those needing it. It really wasn't a problem for us (and really a good point) but the house is located in a local neighbourhood, in the center of the village, which means you have to walk through a relativey dirty street to get out. We find it a lot more of a local experience than all these touristy places by the beach, but that might be our choice. The house is also very close to the big Pola supermarket with absolutely all you need, and we bought fresh pineapple juice from a little shop next door almost everyday. Pablo was here for all our questions and came straight away when there was a small issue with the water. I can't really think of a much better airbnb experience.

Pablo was a very welcoming and helpful host. All of our questions and concerns, which were minimal, were addressed immediately. The house is very private and the grounds are beautifully kept. We very much enjoyed the location as it's in the less touristy part of Las Terrenas and therefore you can live like, and interact with, the local population and observe how things really work away from the packaged hotels and resorts down near the beach. One of our favorite parts of the day is walking around town talking to the locals in Spanish and buying tasty fresh fruits and take-away mofongo and habichuelas from the little local shops and friendly street vendors.

The house is really nice and the landlord was very helpful. The garden is awesome and I got a ride with the motorcycle to see the beach front. Since the house is not directly at the beach but in the center of the little town, you can hear barking dogs and motorcycles from several neigbours until late. all in all very good experience.

Response from Yanis & Pablo:
Dear Mareike, Thank you for the review. About the dogs: It was full moon when you where staying at the house and that makes them nervous. Here street dogs don't get euthanised in shelters like in the U.S (1,5 million a year, only in the U.S.) or Europe About the motorcycles: During the Semana Santa (Easter Week) it gets busy here at Las Terrenas and for the Dominicans it is a big event so it gets noisy. We have to understand and respect that. Every country has its traditions. When you go to Thailand during Loy Krathong or to Rio de Janero during Carnaval for example you just don't sleep for a whole week!

The area was nice, besides from the external neighborhood that was a little bit messy on the way to the gated community (where the house is), I have no complaints of the area. We were greeted by Helena a great person, and who knows a lot about Samana. The house is kept wonderfully, so clean and so peaceful. The outside shower is an amazing touch, you feel one again with nature. We loved our stay so much, that we wish the same house was in other parts of the country as well. The house is equipped with the necessary tools, you can go to one of the nearest supermarkets and buy some groceries. Or dine out, since is not far away from the beach. On New years eve we walked all the way down, it was not too far away. The extra potable water is a plus plus there, we had two 5 gallon water bottles, which was great, since we drink a lot. I am a Dominican and this has nothing to do with the house or the host, is just what it is, so get ready anywhere you go in DR with mosquitoes repellent or candles, like Pablo had ready at home. Pablo since the moment of the booking, was very friendly and responsive to any issues or any questions we had. We will definitely go back to Las Terrenas, and hopefully the wonderful "Caribbean Villa" will be available at the moment.
