Las Terrenas is a new hotspot for foreigners and people from the Capital, Santo Domingo (SD). Since the completion of the new highway between Santo Domingo and Samaná, people from SD have started to come more frequently. The drive takes 2 hours from the center of Las Terrenas to the center of SD. Also, the new airport El Catey is open for international flights, mainly used for Connections from NYC, Boston and Toronto. JetBlue started 2 flights a week non-stop from New York.
Arriving alone in Las Terrenas, I was a bit nervous and ended up taking a taxi from Santo Domingo to the town. The drive wasn't even 2 hours, it is actually quite quick. Upon arriving to Pablo's house , he was very accommodating and allowed me to check in early and gave me a tour of the town.
The house itself is quiet, peaceful, and exactly as described. If you are looking for an authentic stay in Las Terrenas where you feel more like a local expat than a tourist, you must stay at Pablo and Yanis' house. You are about a 15 minute walk to the beach, there is a grocery store 5 minutes away, and you are right off of one of the main streets so you aren't totally in seclusion with nothing to do. You are immersed in the center of the town with all the locals. The house is good to stay if you want to cook at home and spend your evenings on the porch. The outdoor shower in the back yard was a highlight for me.
Next time I will come with friends so that I am a little bit more comfortable in the town center to do more.
the house is amazing qnd very beautifull! the tropical garden seems to be the Eden Garden! We did not have the chance to meet yanis but pablo is very nice and very helpfull. He makes everything for you feel confortable. We think to stay 4 night but we stay 10. I strongly recommand this adress!
I stayed a couple of nights at pablo and yanis house. the house is really amazing as you see it on the pictures. i only can recommend to stay at pablo and yanis`s place. way better than any hotel room. the garden is quiet and peaceful. you can enjoy privacy and relax perfectly.
pablo was a very kindly host, which tried with all possible to let me have a good stay at his house.
so, go ahead and enjoy the same positiv experience as i did, if i will be back to LT one day i sure will try to rebook his house again.
best regrads Pablo, the guest.
My friend and I had a lovely stay in Las Terrenas at the villa. The house is very clean, comfortable, and beautifully decorated. We loved the outdoor shower and the gardens. Very relaxed setting. It was June, so we had some hot days, but we did not need air conditioning. The surrounding area felt very safe. We are two ladies traveling alone and had never been to the Dominican Republic, but Pablo was very helpful and we felt taken care of by the neighbors and the security staff. We were only steps away from a grocery store, and a short walk to great restaurants in Las Terrenas. I definitely recommend staying at the villa! It's a great jumping off point for activities in Semana Peninsula, or to just relax in the town.
Caribbean Villa in Tropical Park was the best of the three places we stayed during our ten days in the DR. The house is a little oasis and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. I couldn't get enough of the outdoor shower! And the kitchen has all the necessary things you need for basic cooking. The property manager was there to greet us so we had no problem once we found the house. There is an arrangement with the owners of the house across the street to park your car, which worked well. The guards even told us where to park to avoid possible coconuts falling on the car. Most days, we left the car and walked into town. The grocery store is v close and the beach and restaurants are 10-15 minute walk. We only took the car when we went to the further away beaches--playa coson and playa bonita. Would definitely recommend this place.
We had 3 great nights in the villa in Las Terrenas - very clean house, everything working, kitchen has everything you need. Great quiet location within 10 minute walk of the beach.
Loved the porch in the evenings!
Pablos house is in a safe residencial area very close to main street i Las Terrenas. Although its really close you don't hear nothing but nature. It has a wonderful quiet garden as you can see on the pictures. The kitchen is well enough equipped for basic cooking. The communication with Pablo was excellent - he answered all questions very quickly. I also have to mention the neighbors who are really nice and helpful.
My boyfriend and I stayed at Pablo's house in the Dominican Republic and it was everything it said it was; beautiful, open, quiet, safe, clean.... everything you want in a house. Thank you!
My girlfriend and I stayed here for the week of Samana Santa. Our experience could not have been better. Pablo was exceptionally helpful in setting up our stay and answered my questions via e-mail in a timely manner. Steve and Nancy, the next door neighbors, served as the house managers and got us established once we arrived. They were also very friendly and helped us out a lot.
We flew into Santo Domingo and took the guagua (local bus) up the new highway to Las Terrenas (about a 3 hour ride through the beautiful countryside). Pablo e-mailed instructions on getting to the house, which was surprisingly easier than I thought it would be - just showed the e-mail to the bus driver and he dropped us off at the nearest corner. From the house, it's a 15-20 min walk through town to the Las Terrenas beach (or a quick ride on the back of a motoconcho). We used Las Terrenas as a hub for the week and took several day trips via guagua to attractions on the Samana Peninsula like the Cascada El Limon, Samana, and Playa Rincon. I highly recommend checking these out.
The condo was perfect for our needs. Quiet, safe, clean, cool, close to town but not in the middle of too much hustle. The orchids in the back yard and well-groomed landscaping was beautiful. Front and back covered porches served as wonderful places to relax and read after a sunny day at the beach or on a rainy afternoon. There was the perfect amount of space for a couple or even a family of 3. We used the kitchen to cook dinner half of the nights and packed a lunch almost every day - plenty of pots, pans, and dinnerware for use in the house. There's a supermarket ~3 minutes away and many fruit/vegetable stands and restaurants along the main road in town.
Great place, great location, great price.
