A cozy loft in the main house here at Nowhere offers two single foutons, each with an underlying foam mattress. (Another bed can easily be set up if there are three in your party.) It’s especially cozy in the winter when heat rises from the wood stove below and you can lie in bed and through the sky light or window, watch snow fall.
Bubbling brooks on the property give the land the gentle rustling sound that permeates the air.
Note that the loft is over the living room and while blinds can be drawn for privacy, you may hear sounds from the kitchen in the morning. (If you prefer a closed-door space in a bedroom, ask about "Hide-away by the Brook."}
At various points along the two brooks, you can find: a hammock swinging; a picnic area with table; an outdoor shower; the sauna house where you can sweat and cleanse or, sitting on its deck, engage in the Sacred Doing of Nothing; a camp fire for toasting marshmallows, grilling, telling scary stories; a screened-in porch; the deck on the main house where, in warm weather, your breakfast can be served.
Enjoy miles of hiking trails through the woods. In winter, you can step outdoors and begin snow-shoeing or cross-country skiing without further ado. For downhill skiing, Stratton Mountain is a half-hour to 40 minute drive away in one straight shot. In summer, dip in the brook, swim the West River, bicycle, hike the trails.
For contra dance lovers, there's the Dawn Dance in nearby Brattleboro, on Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends
You would near a car here as there is no nearby public transport.
On leaving, please strip beds of sheets and leave sheets and towels by the washing machine. Clean up in the kitchen after use, please. If you have borrowed a flashlight, please leave it on the table by the door. You are welcome to use the sauna by the brook but if you do, please leave a donation to help cover cost of the wood for the stove.
