Just 100km (62miles) from Calgary. Canmore is a beautiful community situated just outside the Banff National Park gates and beside Kananaskis Provincial Park (Kananaskis was where the film Broke Back Mountain was filmed.) 20 km bike ride along either mountain bike trails or the new paved bike path will bring you to the famous tourist town of Banff which is well renown for it's Arts program.
Hiking, Rockclimbing, and mountain biking are what the locals love to do around here in the summer. We have a small but picturesque quarry lake to cool off in should the temperatures soar.
If you love to mountain bike Canmore is a destination town. Being that it is outside of park gates XC mountain biking is not limited as it is within the parks. There are great Downhill trails in nearby Kananaskis Country.
Canmore has 3 Golf Courses. World class Silvertip and Stewart Creek as well as our own Canmore Golf Club.
You are smack dab in the mountains at an elevation of 4,500 feel. Great climbing, scrambling and hiking routes are everywhere around you.
Winter In Canmore!
If you decide to visit in the winter, XC skiing and iceclimbing are the main outdoor activites in Canmore. The world class Canmore Nordic Centre is an destination for Cross country ski enthusiasts. We host international events so the runs are always track set and groomed for skate skiing. We even have a night loop open and snow making should the snow gods be stingy that year.
If Downhill is more your passion, just outiside of this picturesque town, you have a choice of 5 different local ski resorts for Downhill skiing and snowboarding . The Canadian Rockies is famous for super dry powder and for Backcountry enthusiasts, ski touring is abundant as Canmore is surrounded on all sides by parks.
Winter or summer, Come check out the beautiful Canadian Rockies!

Had a great stay. Laurie was wonderful to communicate with and made me feel very welcome. The room is very spacious and comfortable and had everything I needed. The neighborhood is quiet and easy to find with the directions. A great place to stay, highly recommended!
Laurie's bachelor apartment was the perfect place for our two day escape. Bright, open and spacious, it was wonderful to wake up viewing the the trees in her private back yard. The apartment is as advertised and well located for easy access to all that Banff and Canmore have to offer.
We were late arriving and Laurie was very welcoming and accommodating.
Thank you Laurie! We made a last moment decision to visit Canmore and Laurie was very accommodating with the short notice. She was helpful in providing us with places to eat. She was very prompt with answering my questions too. Her place was great. It was very convenient and quiet for us. There’s no TV but there was great wifi, which was exactly what we wanted when we spent our time there in the evenings. What she listed was what was available. It was a great get away for the weekend.
We had a really nice stay at Lauries place and found it as comfortable as the pictures are showing. Laurie herself is absolutely caring for her guests comfort and is more than willing to provide you with information e.g. about skiareas and restaurants. We were happy to stay at her place and there is a high chance we will return once in the summer!
First of all, we LOVED Canmore and our time there. We arrived VERY late at night, so we let the owner know we wouldn't arrive until the middle of the night. She made arrangements for us to get in at this inconvenient hour, which we really really appreciate.
The apartment is cozy, and close to everything. It's easy to get around Canmore from the apartment, and it is also located right near the highway that goes to Banff.
A couple of things....
Wifi....the wifi password is found on the table on a small angel figurine, inside the wings of the figurine. Unfortunately, we didn't see this (it is not obvious), so we managed to find our way into town at a really cute coffee place called Beamers, where we were able to get free wifi. The owner was able to get in touch with us later in the day and give us directions on the wifi in the apartment.
(email hidden) is a nice little bathroom, with a heated floor, which is REALLY nice in the cold of winter. It has a sliding door which is a bit difficult to open and close. It has some tinted tape over the clear glass tiles, but some of that is pealing, so it is not the most private door. If you are shy, you may feel a bit exposed. :)
Kitchen....The kitchen is nice and has most everything you need. We cooked several meals while we were there.
(email hidden)ere is no thermostat in the apartment. It is attached to the house upstairs, which is what regulates the temperature in the apartment. We were fairly comfortable with the temperature, but if you are not, you can always ask the owners to adjust.
Bed...the bed is fairly comfortable. It has a memory foam top, which many people really like. I am not a fan of these, as they tend to generate too much heat and are a bit too soft for my taste. If you don't like these, you can always remove it for a firmer sleep.
Privacy...there aren't really any curtains in the windows, but they aren't really needed because there is just mountain and woods behind the house. There are houses on each side of the house, but you don't feel like it. You feel fairly secluded, which is nice, but you are actually in a neighborhood.
Noise...it seems to be a very quiet neighborhood, which is nice. You are in the downstairs of a house, so you will likely hear people walking and talking above you, but it is not bad.
Views...the views when you pull out of the driveway of the house are amazing. Pretty much anywhere you go in Canmore has an amazing view. It is absolutely beautiful!
Overall, we had a good experience. We loved Canmore and Banff, and would definitely return.
We had a great stay in Laurie's basement apartment. The place was cozy, clean and quiet, and looked exactly as the photos. Laurie was really friendly and made us feel right at home at our arrival and was quick to respond to text messages. I would definitely come back! Canmore is beautiful!
Effortless arrival and departure, great location with a nice restaurant/pub (Iron Goat) just up the road and easy walking distance. Very comfortable apartment, strong WiFi connection, well-equipped kitchen for a short or mid-duration stay. Very comfortable bed! It was a truly great visit, and Laurie was a fantastic and responsive host!
I have to agree with other reviewers that this isn't a place for someone who has privacy-issues LOL! The lack of curtains leaves you feeling very "exposed", though as other reviewers have pointed-out, this is probably unwarranted given the layout of the property. Inside of the apartment, there is also little privacy, especially with the door to the toilet being only partially-frosted glass, so you will want to be very comfortable with whomever is staying here with you! But... these are very small issues. Overall, the apartment is just perfect!!
