Old Strathcona is one of Edmonton's most sought-after neighbourhoods, and it's easy to see why! Our incredibly walkable area allows guests to explore without the headache of parking, and get the most out of any time spent here. Lush, old-growth trees line the streets, and gorgeous architecture invites you to wonder about the history of the area.
We are lucky enough to be located in a very central area, with readily accessible public transit - you can get to most areas in Edmonton easily by bus or LRT.
Of note: we have 6 cats, 3 snakes, 4 aquariums, and a plethora of plants. While wonderfully full of life, we understand that it can be less wonderful for people with certain allergies or aversions. Two of the kitties are mostly outdoor, and the rest can be kept out of your room at your request, so we are able to host people with a lesser degree of allergy, but it all depends! The snakes are all kept in private bedrooms in secure enclosures, so there is no danger of unwanted encounters. If you are feeling brave, one of the snake owners can bring out one of our serpentine friends for you to hold! Our biggest aquarium (48 gallons) is located in the sunroom, surrounded by plush couches and our community library - chillin' with the fishies is one of everyone's favourite past times! Our sunroom and certain bedrooms have plants in them, but they are fairly innocuous and shouldn't trigger any allergies. Please don't hesitate to get in touch with me to discuss how we can make your stay perfectly comfortable and absolutely amazing!
The Heritage Arts house is a warm space filled with genuine people and beautiful artwork. The rooms were clean and warm, highly recommended to anyone interested in visiting Edmonton!
Great people and great energy from the home! I will be back to stay here next month!
As soon as I came to the SOAL house, I felt exactly like being in a home away from home! It's one of the most amazing and wonderful houses I've ever seen, old but well taken care of by an amazing crew of AirBnb hosts. It is very clean and has all the utilities you need for a short or long stay, from the washing machine to the steam room! I had a really good time there, and I even felt a little bit homesick when I eventually left :)
My elderly parents had a quiet, restful and comfortable stay, and were able to relax and enjoy their visit to Edmonton. They loved the beautiful artwork which filled the Healing Arts building and provided so much character. The yoga studio and massage therapy rooms added to the overall charm of the place.
Stayed for a night on 2 occasions and had a good sleep. Its a big house with quirky vintage charms, and the cats are never too far away but that didn't affect me even tho I have mild cat allergies. The wifi was also good. Jen was present when I arrived and was a good host.
Would stay here again, and was good value for the location.
I book a room for my husband, Craig, in Jen's house. It was a last minute booking and Jen replied our request very fast. She was a great host. My husband had a great stay there. Her house is an old house but clean and very comfortable. Big room with big window, very nice. It is on whyte ave!!!! I am very recommend this place for airbnb guests
