About this listing

One stop from Kings Cross St Pancras, this is a great location to explore London. Very friendly neighbourhood with local restaurants, pubs and shops, plus we are just 20 minutes walk from Camden.

The space

Welcome to the family home of my son and I, a bright first floor flat with high ceilings, in a quiet road with a friendly local community and a small park just opposite. The double bedroom is light and airy at the back of the house. Quiet with a view of gardens and trees out the window, it is a peaceful place to rest up after a day in London. You can use the kitchen and living room.

CLOSE TO ALL OF LONDON
We are a 5 minute walk from the local tube station Caledonian Road (Zone 2) on the Piccadilly line and its fabulous quick and easy access to all of central London.
Covent Garden is 15 minutes away by tube.
Camden 15 minutes by bus.
Oxford Street, Tower of London and The City, all 20 minutes by tube.
You will get to most other places in Central London within 30 minutes.

If you haven't found out about Oyster Travel cards (see 'Transport for London' website) I can advise, as it offers the most economic way of travelling by public transport around London. I have a very good knowledge of London and how to get around, so happy to help you plan your day.

ARRIVING IN LONDON
We are easily and quickly reached from Eurostar, just one tube station from Kings Cross St Pancras at Caledonian Road.

GETTING HERE is just as easy from the airports.
Heathrow: Direct on the Piccadilly Line to Caledonian Road.
Gatwick: Train direct to Kings Cross then one stop on the tube to Caledonian Road.
Stansted: Train to Liverpool Street, 4 stops on the tube to Kings Cross, change then one stop to Caledonian Road.
Luton: Train direct to Kings Cross then one stop on the tube to Caledonian Road.

I will supply bedding and towels, plus continental breakfast. Help yourself anytime to tea and coffee. WiFi connection plus reasonable computer access if you require, easy parking with priced vouchers.

Guests have use of the kitchen to make a lunch for their day out, as well as offer an alternative to eating out in the evening. This can help people with specific dietary requirements.

There is a good standard of local restaurants within walking distance offering Italian, Spanish or Indian food. Holloway Road, the local shopping street, is 5 minutes walk and has a reasonable selection of food shops, supermarkets and a small department store.

I have lived here for 20 years or so and work from home as a graphic designer. We have a close community and look after a local Gardens just across from the house, where we put on an annual summer party.

My aim is to help you enjoy your stay in London by making you as welcome as I can.

One day before arrival, me and my girlfriend were told that the room on the picture was not available and that instead, we would sleep in Keith's bedroom which was not as clean as we had hoped for (the carpet was stained and there were cracks in the ceiling). The bathroom had also not been cleaned in quiet a long time and was mouldy.

Response from Keith:
Dear Ivan and Sabrina, sorry to read you were disappointed with how you perceived the state of my room and the bathroom, I hope it didn't detract from the rest of your time here in England. This is a surprise to me as it's the first negative comment in nearly four years, including from a few other guests who stayed in my bedroom. The room was changed because I did not have time to prepare the advertised bedroom, as I have been visiting my mother in hospital in south London during the day over the last week. I should have explained this to you, so I apologise for that. The mould you refer to is just the bath edge sealant at one end under the shower, which is due to be replaced but is cleaned regularly. The flat is also cleaned regularly and especially before each guest arrives, and yes there are a few spots on the light coloured carpets. The hairline cracks at the top of the wall by the ceiling are settling cracks that are usual for house of this age and are non-structural. I can only apologise if you found this took away from your stay. I would have explained this if you had said something at the time, but you left saying you thought everything was fine when I asked you both. All best wishes Keith

Keith is a very nice host. We had a very nice stay at his place, quite and beautiful area, but at the same time very close to the centre. Highly recommended!

Keith was an absolutely lovely guy and his place is great. It is very convenient to Caledonian Road station, which is a good station for luggage as it has lift access. There are small supermarkets near the station. Bathroom was great with ample hot water and hairdryer facilities. The Room is spacious and the bed comfortable. Keith lays out breakfast items for you in the morning. It was really lovely and would highly recommend.

We definitely enjoyed staying in Keith's place. It was a convenient location: Within walking distance from U-station which was itself on the same line (Piccadilly) that goes to Heathrow, British Museum and Natural History Museum; grocery stores within 5 minutes walk; quiet street. The room was comfortable, neat with a large desk. There was a rack to hang our clothes/towels, but a bit more cabinet space to hang our clothes would be helpful too. We also enjoyed the good number of unique designs/decos in the apartment. The highlight was Keith himself--friendly, warm and very helpful. He even sent us to the train station at 5am!

Great location and very relaxed. Keith was not at home during my trip but maude was available to show me around and answer my questions. I felt at home straight away and nothing was to much trouble. I felt humbled that I was trusted with the house to myself the 2nd night and I absolutely fell in love with the place. A massive thank you to Keith and Maude and I will be back next year.

Keith is a very lovely person and his place is amazing. It is close to the stations and you can locate it easily. You can get everything you need from the supermarkets nearby. You don't have to worry about breakfast coz Keith will prepare it for you if you want to. There are bus stops connecting you to the attractions in Central London. It is also very close to King's Cross Station. Keith also likes to share his thoughts with us and we had a really nice stay st his place.

I am a South Londoner by birth and moved to north London about twenty five years ago now. I've lived here for over twenty years with my son Jake and am involved in the local street community. I know London very well and enjoy living in this vibrant city. I work as a graphic designer from home, producing a variety of work for print along with websites. I play tennis and cricket, and go for long country walks at weekends outside of the cricket season. I try to stay fit and healthy and cook using fresh ingredients, but I do enjoy a glass or two some evenings. I come from a large family with many cousins in and around London.
