About This Listing
In the Byron Bay Hinterland, 20 minutes from the beach & Byron, wake up to the sunrise & views over the valley & the Pacific Ocean in the comfort of the Bay Room in the Den. One of my favourite places!!
Get picked up in our fab all terrain vehicle and get taken on a jungle Safari to the top of the mountain half an hour from Byron Bay. 4WD access is required as it is a 3.6kms safari ride from the Car Park to reach the pinnacle of this most unique wilderness area.
Wake up to the Golden Sunrise over the vast ocean perched on top of a Mountain, at the end of a valley in a secret giant forest overlooking the majestic Pacific; is a place called 'Kinabalu', home of the Spirits. "The Treehouse" has been a name that guests have called & it has stuck. :) The abode of peace & tranquility . . . .
Surrounded by a Rainforest Sanctuary & Nature Reserve, you have absolute privacy and one of the most extraordinary locations of the area. This is a (nature) lovers retreat with pristine walks into old growth forest or swimming in the sparkling secluded waterfalls . . . . so make sure you bring your walking shoes.
The Den is a cosy self- contained room, with Kitchenette, anteroom & toilet facilities. It has a view that is absolutely breathtaking. Wireless broadband Internet is provided . .a much loved feature of the den is the outdoor shower where you can take in the breathtaking surrounds while you wash!! (An indoor shared bathroom is available)
A 4 wheel drive is necessary to reach the 'Treehouse' so all transport to & from the Lodge is provided, if need be. So if you intend to come to Byron just to savour the cosmopolitan atmosphere, you should stay in Byron Bay town. However transport to & from can be provided if you wish for a small fee. This is both a lover's & NATURE LOVERS RETREAT.
Food is provided for a hearty breakfast that includes various cereals, our very own eggs, bacon, smoked salmon & a selection of fruits & salad. An assortment of condiments is also provided. If you wish to have served lunch & dinner this can be arranged.
It has been quite an achievement to build this over the last 3 years . . now focused on the garden - still plenty to do. Come and plant some herbs if you have a green thumb!
See you at the Treehouse!. An experience you'll never forget!
First of all being totally surrounded by the Nature Reserve you will have access to walks in old growth forest, walks to the waterfall & depending on your level of fitness a cornucopia of natures gifts. You will have exclusive use of the den, however, you will generally have the run of the garden & household.
A lovely well qualified girl from Finland can teach yoga & give you a massage if you wish, by appointment.
Interaction with Guests
This is up to you. Most guest prefer to be left to their own devices, however if there is a dinner, or meal being prepared by one of our gourmet chefs you *may* be invited :)
The wonder & beauty of nature is an inspiration to all that come here. A little bliss bomb of nature together with the best views of the ocean & Byron Shire.. The mighty Pacific Ocean is absolutely breathtaking & waking up to the first sun is an ultimate start to the day. Be the first to see the sun in Australia. Don't worry if you want to sleep in there are curtains!
A four wheel drive is necessary for you independence to & from the front. However once on the road you are close to beaches, supermarkets being no more that 15m drive. Bear in mind the location is on top of the mountain so all transport up & down may be provided if need be. If you need to picked up from the airport the fee is $50 & $30 from Byron Bay. Special tours available by request. Public transport is available from the nearest town of Billinudgel.
Other Things to Note
Please note that you have only exclusive use of the Den. There is an entertainment facility in the room that includes TV & a wide selection of documentaries & movies.
Also be aware this is a Rainforest Jungle home built on top of a mountain in the middle of totally wild nature. You enter this wonderful natural reality AT YOUR OWN RISK. There are not concrete pathways with railings just natural bush tracks. Please be prepared with the appropriate attire, bring a torch, wet weather gear & make sure you are fit enough to negotiate this wild pristine natural environment.
Bring a torch!! If it is wet I would ask you to remove your shoes. Bring some walking shoes or wet weather proof ones just in case it rains.
We had such a pleasant stay in the den, the view was beautiful and there's was lots to explore around the property. Robin and James are very helpful and accommodating but we also had privacy when needed. Can't wait to come back! :)
The location was fantastic, secluded and relaxing which was what we were looking for. Eventhough we didn't get to meet Robin, his neighbours were more than helpful, making our overall experience memorable. I would definitely recommend it for others looking to get away.
It was such an amazing experience to be apart of there! relaxing, and amazing. Would definitely go back again!
Fantastic spot high in the hills with amazing views. Did a couple of bushwalks to the top of the Mountain and down into the valley to the waterfalls which were beautiful. The outdoor shower is awesome! Super comfy bed. We also took our dog with us which was a bonus. Robin was a great host and I'd highly recommend his place for couples looking for a relaxing weekend away.
