When you visit Nuevo Arenal come and stay on a real working organic farm!
Milk a cow, or feed the ducks! We will be happy to explain how this balanced eco system works.
Farm Stay is a idea of mine to let the public see how a organic farm can work. We have designed and built a naturally balanced eco system that feeds itself and us. The property is a natural rain forest paradise that sits on a lush 8 acrs., that over looks the lake of Arenal. We made a dam at the top of the property were the water flows on its own to all parts of the farm. With all that water we planted banana trees, fruit trees, and fenced in the pastures for the cows. We made fish ponds, that are now filled with enough fish to feed many people. Every day is something new here at the farm Stay!
You will have access to the working part of the farm and private guest house.
Interaction with Guests
The Farm Stay guest house is situated in a private setting, close enough to be a part of the farm action, or private enough to be to yourself.
The Farm Stay is in the San Antiono neighborhood just out side of Nuevo Arenal, over looking the lake of Arenal. Quiet, safe and peaceful.
We are 800mts. form the main highway between Nuevo Arenal and Tilliaran. There is a bus stop there that can take you any where you would like to go in Costa Rica.
Other Things to Note
The Farm stay has a compete kitchen for you to cook. With a fridge, toaster oven, pots and pans, and french press coffee pot, coffee, cream, and sugar included. The claw foot bath tub has plenty of hot water for you to relax. The tub now has a shower curtain, if you like a shower ( not shown in photo)
Gaia is a great host! He was present and made us felt welcome and helped us out as much as he could! His place is AMAZING! Nuevo Arenal is a dreamland! We had a great time staying with him, met the humble and nice people in town!
We didn't have a car while we were there, but Gaia was there to help us out to his fullest extent. He even woke up early to drive us to the bus stop, because we had luggage and it was raining!
Gaia's house is tucked away on a hill, on a clear day you can see the lake, and the view is unbelievable. 30 minutes hike down into town is very enjoyable, along the way there are just beautiful scenery, animals, and exotic plant life. Gaia showed us a back door short cut to his place, and the view is just as stunning!
We really enjoyed staying at Gaia's place, we highly recommend this magical place!
We really enjoyed our stay at Gaia's place. The house was clean and cozy. It is equipped with some basic kitchen facilities which makes cooking possible.
There is a nice balance between privacy and interaction with the animals and Gaia. Gaia was very helpful in planning some activities near Nuevo Arenal (horse back riding) and providing directions of the area. We loved his hospitality and his animals!
The farm is a bit away from the centre of Nuevo Arenal but that is no problem when you have a car. The farm has a relaxed and quiet atmosphere. From the front of the guesthouse you can see a magical sunset every evening, and there is a beautiful view on Lake Arenal.
Staying at this farm was a great experience. We recommend it to anyone who likes a peaceful environment with lots of nature!
We loved staying with Gaia! He was a great host! He really made us feel welcome. We had a wonderful time checking out the farm and all of the animals. It is a very beautiful area. Gaia provided recommendations on what to do and where to go. He told us where the local (free!) hot springs were and we had a terrific time there! It was great to get a local's perspective. We highly recommend staying with Gaia!
Gaia was very welcoming and helped us park and get our baggage to the farm stay. He was very willing to answer any questions we had. He did everything he could to make us feel welcomed. He gave us a tour of his farm and shared vegetables with us. We had some interesting conversations.
Gaia was an excellent, helpful and welcoming host. We were traveling on bus and by foot, so we walked the half mile up the hill (mountain!) to his farm. The views are outstanding! There is a walking path to the town, which is about a 20 min walk. There is a bus that leaves town around 8am for La Fortuna, where you can go zip lining and do other adventures.
The Farm Stay was a really nice little cabin with two beds, a furnished kitchen, and a bathroom (all in the same room). Gaia showed us around the farm and helped us set up a horseback riding adventure. Staying here is definitely doable on foot (and worth is), just expect a lot of walking because Gaia's place is a bit remote. Overall, he was very knowledgeable, helpful, and welcoming, we definitely recommend staying here!
This is a really fun place to stay. The owner, Giai, is a great guy and a wonderful host. He showed us around his entire farm and we saw pigs, goats, cows and even baby calf! The view is stunning and you are in close proximity to Lake Arenal. Highly recommend!
My passion in life is live in the most beauitful places in the world. I have live in the Swiss mountains, New Zealand, and the deserts of Arizona. Now I live in the high rain forests of Costa Rica. Its like a garden here! The culture is rich with humanity. I learn every day how to be a better person.
