Farm Stay

House - Entire home/apt · mt. Calle Guatuso, Nuevo Arenal, Guanacaste 5717, Costa Rica

When you visit Nuevo Arenal come and stay on a real working organic farm!
Milk a cow, or feed the ducks! We will be happy to explain how this balanced eco system works.

The Space

Farm Stay is a idea of mine to let the public see how a organic farm can work. We have designed and built a naturally balanced eco system that feeds itself and us. The property is a natural rain forest paradise that sits on a lush 8 acrs., that over looks the lake of Arenal. We made a dam at the top of the property were the water flows on its own to all parts of the farm. With all that water we planted banana trees, fruit trees, and fenced in the pastures for the cows. We made fish ponds, that are now filled with enough fish to feed many people. Every day is something new here at the farm Stay!

Guest Access

You will have access to the working part of the farm and private guest house.

Interaction with Guests

The Farm Stay guest house is situated in a private setting, close enough to be a part of the farm action, or private enough to be to yourself.

The Neighborhood

The Farm Stay is in the San Antiono neighborhood just out side of Nuevo Arenal, over looking the lake of Arenal. Quiet, safe and peaceful.

Getting around

We are 800mts. form the main highway between Nuevo Arenal and Tilliaran. There is a bus stop there that can take you any where you would like to go in Costa Rica.

Other Things to Note

The Farm stay has a compete kitchen for you to cook. With a fridge, toaster oven, pots and pans, and french press coffee pot, coffee, cream, and sugar included. The claw foot bath tub has plenty of hot water for you to relax. The tub now has a shower curtain, if you like a shower ( not shown in photo)

  • Staying with Gaia on his farm was awesome! He was very knowledgeable and friendly - he happily showed us his pigs, chickens, cows, Tom the Turkey, the sheep, fish, and his garden. He welcomed us to try eggs that we picked from the coop ourselves, which we ate as omelets with veggies we hand-picked from his garden, and they were delicious!
The house is quaint, with nice modern appliances and a giant claw-foot tub.
We loved loved loved his three pooches, we are big affable farm dogs and gave us lots of kisses when we were homesick for our own.

  • Had a wonderful stay at Gaia's place! Loved the area, the beauty, the sunset, the animals, especially "Tom" the turkey, the organic garden from which I made a delicious dinner and thoroughly relished having to sleep with a blanket after days at the beach in the heat and dust.
I would stay there again and my only regret is that I had one night which was not long enough!

  • Our family thoroughly enjoyed our Farm Stay. Gaia is a wonderful host, friendly, kind and knowledgable. He has created special interconnected working environment, and our kids loved the farm animals and the abundant bird life that make this place unique. The cabin though an intimate space provides all that is needed. We would definitely stay here again.

  • We had a fantastic stay, thanks for everything!! If anything it was too short. The house we occupied offered privacy with plenty of windows for natural light. A well equipped kitchen (with blender for smoothies!) and great neighbors both ppl and animals! Thanks again, we would definitely return if we can manage another trip to CR.

  • If you want a small town with great, basic amenities you will love this place. You will need a car, but it is easy to get to and a drive that is to die for. Gaia was a great host who showed us his AMAZING farm, which is pretty much sustainable with all types of animals. I would highly recommend this place if you need to escape the hustle and bustle in a beautiful environment I would recommend this place hands down.

  • We loved staying at Gaia and his wife! The place was magical. And being there so close to the animals is awesome. When we arrived we had the biggest surprise, there were small baby pigs! We even got to held them in our arms.
Gaia is so friendly, and willing to tell everything about the farm and surroundings. He helped us a lot with arranging transportation. We recommend staying at Gaia's anytime! Visiting the farm was a highlight of our stay in CR.

  • A bit off the beaten path, Gaia's Farm Stay is the ideal location for those looking to get away from it all and connect back to nature while in Costa Rica.

The quaint studio apartment in the heart of Gaia's organic farm was bright, clean and cheery, with a full working kitchen, well stocked with supplies (including coffee in the fridge- which was a God send!), bath, and sleeping space, this Farm stay has it all.

The farm animals are only a stone's throw away, with working methane collector, so you can get as close to the action as you wish. You can even meet Thomas the Turkey (they make very good security guards)!

Gaia was a warm and welcoming host, guiding us to the local sites and giving us hits to get off the beaten path, he was informative about the local area and most knowledgeable about organic farming.

Thank you Gaia for the captivating stay!
