Description

The space

Welcome and thank you for viewing our room.

We've stayed in many airbnbs and hotels around the world and have made an effort to provide you with the best accommodations based on what we've experienced.

If you're looking for a private space with a separate entrance in a clean, quiet environment, this is the place for you. In other words, guests will not go through the rest of the house in order get to the room. If you enjoy soaking in a sunken tub in a very large, deluxe bathroom, you'll love this spot. Hosts have traveled the world, and know how to provide a comfortable room with all the amenities. Towels, sheets, shampoo, soap, lite snacks, coffee, tea, and bottled water are available for guest use.

***Guests are wowed by the floor to ceiling, spacious marble bathroom that makes them feel pampered by just setting foot into it.

If you have a 3rd person feel free to rent our other listing which is a loft for one person.

***Guests love the hardwood oak floors. No soils, stains or dust embedded in them as is so often the case with carpeting.

The room has a small refrigerator, microwave, small kitchen counter, basic food utensils, as well as a walk-in closet, chest of drawers, iron, and a lot of amenities tucked away throughout the room.

***Guests comment on our quiet neighborhood - yet it's so close to everything.

Experience and previous interaction with guests has taught us that our room appeals most to those who are from Europe and/or have traveled internationally, as well as folks from larger urban areas. Parents of IU students also enjoy the solitude while here as well as the closeness to campus, restaurants and shopping.

***Guests especially enjoy their own private entrance because - let's face it - when you're traveling, sometimes you just need your own space.

As we have no pets, folks with allergies can find a refuge here.

You'll find luxuriously soft sheets on the beds, and a warm but light comforter (in the winter) with four pillows of varying levels of softness so that you can find the comfort level that is best for you. Extra sheets and blankets are available. 100% cotton hotel grade towels will soothe and dry your skin after a hot shower or bath in the deluxe sunken bathtub. Bath salts are provided.

***Guests love the soft, luxurious sheets.

The owners designed and built (literally) the house and have put a lot of thought into making it comfortable and cozy for themselves and their guests. It is still a work in progress, so you may find some sort of project going on around the house.

Guest access

Guests will have access to the back deck with chairs (weather permitting), as well as their room and bathroom. Guests who stay more than a week can also schedule a time for laundry.

Interaction with guests

There will be little interaction with hosts unless required by guests. Hosts will be happy to give information on local eateries, etc to guests, or answer any questions, but only if guests need and/or want this type of arrangement. We are very friendly, but don't want to be in your way.

The neighborhood

Our neighborhood is centrally located, yet very quiet and safe. It is an older neighborhood with mostly retired people. It is not a development - rather it has a long history of families living in the same home for decades. The homes range from very tiny, to a large mansion tucked away in the woods across the street. It is this variety that makes it interesting (at least this is what we find attractive - nothing cookie-cutter about it.) It is so quiet - especially at night - that guests might think they're in the country rather than in the middle of town, even though a major road is just 1/2 block away.

Getting around

The bus is a 4 minute walk from the house and takes you near IU and/or shopping and restaurants in minutes. If you have a car, you'll be a few short minutes away from downtown, IU and/or shopping and restaurants.

Other things to note

The hosts live in the house with no pets or small children. Although we have the occasional gathering, generally we are a very quiet family, and will do everything to ensure that our guests have a quiet and comfortable stay.

This place was great for one person or a couple. There was ample parking in the driveway and the owners were quite helpful! It's a bit far to walk to downtown, but it was an easy drive.

Wonderful people! Naomi met me on check-in. So personable and welcoming. The room was exactly as expected. Bed comfy. Bathtub amazing after 12 hours working an Art Fair. Thanks so much for the comfy, peaceful stay. :)

I had planned on being there right at check in time - due to traveling for work. When I got there, I realized I hadn't taken in account for the time difference and showed up almost an hour early. I had called to see if there was any way I could come a tad early (because I needed to rest) and Naomi was pleasant to speak with and got me in earlier than what was officially offered at time of my reservation. The house is the nicest on the street; the neighbors keep to themselves and it felt like "coming home" as a kid. The owners are polite and welcoming. Gave me a tour of the room and amenities and were quite thorough with everything; including the bath tub - which at the moment was missing a piece (a metal knob) - but nonetheless it was nice. The only thing that I did notice which I wish I could have or should have asked was the outside light, I couldnt turn off. I dont know if there was a switch or not, it wasn't bright, but something that I noticed - per say. The room itself had a large bed in a country felt room. Warm colors which were welcoming instead of too bright or off color. There wasn't a tv in the room - which I prefer but they had books and a small frig and microwave if I needed to heat anything. And there is WIFI:) The bathroom was large; two sinks ( a his and hers) and a standing shower (glass cased - around nice tiled walls) and the tub (which I used later in the night) was deep and looked like a garden tub with steps leading to it. The lights in the room - were like being in a a spa. The stay in itself was just what I needed. A deep driveway to park my car so it wasn't on the road. And it was by far the first nights sleep in a long time while being on the road - that I felt like being in my own bed. It was exactly what I needed. Quiet. Remote - but still only 5 to 10 minutes away from downtown.

Naomi & Victor User ProfileNaomi & Victor is a superhost.

We love to travel and salsa dance. We own a local restaurant and have learned a lot about customer service as a result. We may want to have our own B&B in the future, but for now hosting on airbnb is our latest adventure. We've enjoyed being guests at airbnb homes, and now we'd like to host guests. Having traveled extensively, we know what people look for when traveling, and hope to provide the same to our guests. We don't want to be in your face, but we want to be available if you need us. We want our guests to be comfortable and happy and will do what we can to make sure this happens.
