About this listing
A modern newly renovated house in a seaside suburb 15 minutes from the airport and 30 minutes from Dublin city.
Tracey was a fantastic host for my 11-day stay. I was in Malahide on a work assignment and the listing photos don't show how big the bedroom actually is. The bed was big and comfy so I slept like a log most nights. It was great to be able to have an unusual amount of extra space, including a closet to hang my dress shirts, during my extended stay. I also had access to Tracey's kitchen including washer and dryer. A plus is that they are separate units, unlike 2 in 1 W/Ds that many UK accommodations have, so my clothes actually were dry when I took them out at the end of the cycle. I was working long hours so was rarely around but appreciated the flexibility to come and go as I pleased. The place is conveniently 5 minutes away from Swords Pavilions mall with plenty of restaurants and shopping plus a cinema. Tracey also had enough space in her driveway for me to park my rental car off street most nights which was an added benefit. I did not cook at all while staying at Tracey's though the option was available and there was enough room in the refridgerator for me to store some orange juice for breakfasts on the go. WIFI was one of the best/strongest networks of any AirBNB booking I've stayed in. I had to upload a few large video files (1.5 GB) for work and each one only took 15-20 minutes, which was pretty quick for something that size and I never had any issues using Skype video calls or doing other video stuff for work. If you're an American like me and hate the European half-shower door that many places have, fear not because Tracey's shower is fully enclosed so you don't have to worry about the nuisance of water spraying all over the floor and having to mop up afterward. I didn't use the TV at all during my stay because I was busy with work but came in a few times while Tracey was hanging out watching her own shows and we had some wonderful chats. At the end of my stay I was held up with some last-minute work that delayed my check-out until mid-afternoon on the day I was due to leave but Tracey was very understanding and flexible to work around my schedule before I handed back the keys. Tracey is a very experienced world traveler in her own right so she knows what it's like to want good hospitality and as such she does a wonderful job providing it for her guests to make sure they have a top-notch stay with her, particularly for someone like me who was there on a non-touristy trip and needed to be focused on my work. I had all the space and freedom I wanted to do what I needed to do on a daily basis. I would not hesitate to book with Tracey again and recommend her wholeheartedly!
My stay with Tracey was exactly what I needed - a homely environment where I felt relaxed and welcomed. Tracey took the time to sit and chat but also made me feel welcomed to come and go as I please, helping me out quite a few times with lifts to make it easier for me. She was very flexible in the comings and goings of myself first then when my husband joined me, and finally taking us to the airport at the crack of dawn! Many thanks Tracey.
Malahide is a very pretty village and a nice walk from Traceys along the estuary or an easy bus ride - lots of pubs in true Irish fashion and we caught some great live music. The bus ride to Dublin centre was also very pretty and took about 20/30 mins passing through quite a bit of delightful countryside which surprised me as we were so close to Dublin.
If you are looking for a stay with a friendly local in a quiet, pretty area out of the hubbub of the centre but close enough to get to the tourist sites easily then I highly recommend Tracey's place
we spent a really good week in tracey's house.
She was more than welcoming with us (we had such great talk and fun).
She has got a really peacefull and beautifull houses located in a nice part of malahide (close to malahide castle, malahide center).
There is a bus stop just at the end of the road witch can bring you to the town and to the airport.
Tracey can give you good advices and places to visit.
I definitely recommand you to stay there.
We enjoyed our stay with Tracey very much. After all of the places we stayed on our trip, I asked my girls what their favorite place was to stay during our trip to England and Ireland. They both agreed that Tracey's was the best accommodation. Tracey was very gracias and her home very comfortable. She was very helpful with transportation information and suggesting local attractions.
GREATEST HOST EVER! 5 STARS! Not only was Tracey friendly, extremely knowledgeable and kept a great home, but she is exactly the kind of person you want waiting for you in your home-away-from-home. Her house is located in a quiet and charming village just 20 minutes from Dublin, and you'll definitely want to check out the local Malahide Castle if you have time. It's also 10 minutes from the Dublin Airport, which was great as we stayed with Tracey on our last night in Ireland.
Tracey was SUPER welcoming and immediately sparked up great conversations with us that seemed like they would go on for DAYS! She's lived a hugely interesting life and knows just about everything about Ireland, sailing, and lots more. She even invited us to join her for dinner (vegetarian gluten-free pasta and sauce - even our resident carnivore liked it!) and went out of her way to make us a customized breakfast. Crumpets were had!
The room was comfy, clean and very purple. It's perfect for a traveling couple or solo traveler, plenty of space and power outlets and parking included!
We loved loved loved our stay here. Tell Tracey we said hi!
About the Host, Tracey
I'm a sailor with a passion for adventure. I spent 10 years as a seaborne gypsy crossing oceans and exploring the world on my 40ft sail and wind powered floating home. This house doesn't float, to my knowledge, and has all sorts of wonderful things that I've ceased to take for granted, unlimited running hot water, wifi, an ice filled freezer, TV!, a garden, and far too many rooms for one person.
