There is a small room off the kitchen that is not photographed on airbnb, so there's extra space for storing suitcases and clothes, etc.

Duyi Design generally renovates and redesigns older apartments and lane houses. This allows us to hand pick more unusual living spaces, with a sense of history and soul. We renovate each home from a collection of interior ideas and pieces that blend modern and vintage elements of style, functionality, and design.
Danshui Road, at the corner has developed into such an interesting street over the last year - little cafes, a western convenience store, wine bars - and still a Chinese hand pulled noodle joint that's to die for...
There are supermarkets nearby, so it should be no problem to get Western and Eastern foods to cook in your kitchen!
One block from brand new Line 10 subway
One block from Xintiandi's hip restaurants and shopping
1/2 block from Fuxing Park
1/2 block from Sinan Mansions in the French Concession
Taxis are easily accessible at the lane entrance on Fuxing Middle Road

Great location , great host !
The apartment was beautiful and located in an amazing location. Mariel was a great host and made sure to make it a smooth stay.
Pied a terre is a clearly spacious apartment with a real French Concession authenticity. It is very quite and the school nearby provides a lovely daily pace.
The Bakery nearby (Corner of Fuxing and the North-South elevated road) and the Fuxing Park give this location a real plus...
I've been staying for 10 days and it was just perfect for me.
This is the second time I am staying at Mariel's, it is my favourite. Best location to experience Shanghai!
Great apartment in a great location. Thanks Mariel, driver Lu and Ayi!
The apartment was lovely (attractive, clean, quiet and well maintained) plus its best location - about 5 minutes walk to the nearby metro station. I'd definitely recommend this to everyone!
I will certainly take a look and stay in this or other Mariel place next time when I come to Shanghai again.
Thanks Mariel and your housekeeper Ayi!
We really enjoyed our stay in Shanghai at Mariel's house.
Mariel's communication was excellent and once inside - the house is great with all the amenities that you would need.
The approach to the house is out of the ordinary. The house itself sits in a working class neighborhood away form the typical tourist areas. It is in a small building/apartment house at the end of an alley. There is a large hallway with stoves/woks and a washroom off the hallway. This area needs some work and cleaning. The entrance to the apartment is through the hallway at the end. Once inside, the unit is great.
There is a metro station very close by and a new modern mall with a great grocery store just a block away. In the other direction, Fuxing Park lies just a block away.
We were fine with the location and it's quirks however, some people might be turned-off by them. If you like an adventure and are tired of big hotels, this is a great place.
We would not hesitate in staying here again!
I couldn't have asked for a better brief stay in Shanghai. This was the perfect alternative stopover for a two-night business and personal trip. If you are not looking for a generic hotel, Mariel's pied a terre provides all the comforts and convenience of a hotel and beyond. The flat is spacious, stylishly appointed, extremely well-located, and outfitted with the services of your own home but better. Mariel provided hotel-quality service: when my flight was substantially delayed and I failed to check in at our agreed time, when the Internet failed and a repairman showed up within the hour, when my visitor arrived and didn't know how to locate the flat -- Mariel was always a phone call away. The place was immaculate, clean, and had more personal luxuries (hotel bath towels, toiletries, kitchen supplies) than most AirBnb places. The location is in the heart of the French Concession and the photos speak for themselves. It was a privilege to get to reap the rewards of this labour of love. I would recommend this place to anyone.
The Pied-a-Terre was just lovely and although we only spent one night, we both wished we could have spent more. Mariel was very easy to get in touch with, and we had no issues getting in and out. The location is really great, just a 5 minute walk from Xin TIan Di. The only thing I'd say is because it is an old place I'd do a check of the hot water and heater and address that right away with Mariel because she is really quick to respond but we didn't realize that we didn't have hot water until it was too late to call! Overall a pleasant stay in a great place and I would absolutely recommend and stay again in a heartbeat (as well as in any of her beautiful guest houses)!
LOVE this apartment. It is bigger than expected, so beautifully designed and in such a FABULOUS location. I have been to Shanghai a few times and know the city reasonably well, and this apartment is just perfect for walking everywhere and immersing yourself in the culture. Danshui road (just around the corner) is so awesome, so much activity and vibrance on the street. Ayi the housekeeper was very helpful and Mariel also very responsive. Will be staying here each time I come back to Shanghai!
