Other things to note
Other Things to Note (The "Off-Grid" Experience)
To ensure you have the best stay, please keep these unique features in mind:
+ Sustainable Living: As an off-grid home, we run on solar power and a private water cistern. We ask guests to be "water-wise" (short 5 minute showers) and be mindful of power usage during cloudy days and at night.
+ Winter Travel: From Sept–May, AWD/4WD with snow tires or chains is required by law to navigate the mountain roads.
+ Supplies: We are beautifully remote! The nearest groceries and gas are 20–30 minutes away, so we recommend stocking up before arrival.
+ Wildlife: You are in moose and bear country. Please keep the area clean and never leave food or trash outside.
+ Red Rocks: Only 35–40 minutes away for world-class concerts.
_____
SPECIAL NOTE FOR VEHICLE REQUIREMENTS:
This place is a Colorado mountain gem. However, to reach this special place, you have to navigate some remote dirt mountain roads that might be snow packed or unplowed.
We require that all guests have either a high-clearance AWD vehicle (think Subaru outback or better) or 4WD vehicle during the winter months (October-April)
NO AIR CONDITIONING:
In the mountains, there is no need for central air conditioning, and very few houses up here have it. We take advantage of ambient cooling by opening windows & doors and enjoying mountain breezes. Just be sure to close windows and doors before leaving or if it begins to rain.
NO SMOKING:
No Smoking anywhere on the property. By county regulations, smoking is illegal at vacation rentals, even outside because of fire danger risk. Any guests caught smoking anywhere on the property, during their stay will be evicted and fined $250. If the house smells like smoke after departure, guests will be charged a $500 fine.
PLEASE TREAT THIS SPECIAL PLACE WITH RESPECT:
You’re on vacation, you’re paying a cleaning fee and we don’t expect you to clean. However, Guests should not leave loose trash or perishables out or leave an excessive mess or damages that causes our cleaners to spend more time. Any of these violations will result in a minimum $250+ fine depending on the situation.
HOUSE RULES & IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
1. Parties or events are strictly prohibited.
2. Loud or unruly behavior such as loud shouting, loud music, or disruptive noise that disturbs the peace of our neighbors and other guests is prohibited by local ordinance. Violations may result in a citation by local authorities and immediate termination of your stay.
3. Stay within occupancy limits. Only registered guests and pets are allowed. Let us know if you’d like to add anyone.
4. No Smoking: This is a non-smoking property, indoors and outdoors, due to fire risk. Any evidence of smoking will result in a $500 fine and may lead to immediate termination of your stay.
5. Property Upkeep: Keep the rental tidy and free of trash, use designated indoor trash to reduce wildlife attraction.
6. Wildfire Safety & Prevention: Guests must check whether fire restrictions apply before using outdoor fires and grills. Use only approved devices and never leave a fire unattended until completely cold.
7. Wildlife Respect & Safety: Colorado’s wildlife must not be approached, fed, or harassed. It’s illegal to intentionally place feed or attractants for any animals.
9. Winter Safety Measures: Guests staying between September and May must follow winter safety protocols, including vehicle preparedness (AWD/4WD, snow-rated tires, etc.) .
