The Union Place is a small sturdy house, built in the 30's with spacious rooms and lots of built in charm. The Union Place has only one official bedroom with a queen size bed. But there's a pull out, full size bed in the Media Room which could hold another person or two. There are sliding french doors that can close off the Media Room and dark curtains to pull across them for privacy. The large flat screen TV comes complete with full cable access, On Demand, Netflix and more. There are Bose speakers you can hook your iPod up to. Wireless Internet? But of course! There's even a little office corner where you can work.
The Kitchen is our favorite part. It's very large for such a small house, meaning you won't be alone when you're cooking! It's surrounded by dark tile with glass accents. All the small appliances you might need are there, as well as stainless steel cookware, plenty of dishes and fine glassware. Speaking of glass, the owner's son is a glass blowing artist so there are several of his pieces sprinkled into the décor.
We think you'll like the Union Place and enjoy the contentment of having your own house with the convenience of being downtown. There's a sweet little outside courtyard with a table and chairs so you can hang outside, too.
You'll enjoy a short walk to both the Capitol Campus and the Downtown District. There's a bus line, too. The house is amazingly quiet considering the access to services.
Arrangements were easy to make and worked out as planned. (I should have clarified better where the lockbox is located, though, so I recommend doing that.) The house is very convenient to the interstate, with very good walking access to the Capitol and good access to downtown. Easy and convenient parking.
The kitchen is super-well-appointed for cooking anything you want and the main bed is very comfortable, in an attractive room. The secondary bed is a fold-out and so (as you might imagine) less comfortable, though the sofa was good for napping and could have served for overnight just as well.
It's a funky little house, layout-wise, but I guess this is common in Olympia. Part of the charm!
Karen and Gale were excellent hosts. They provided excellent information to direct me to the location and recommendations for breakfast/coffee in the area. The apartment could not have been better. All of the spaces, furniture, and appliances were clean and well-maintained. The hosts also provided detailed instructions on how to use everything. I also liked the apartment's layout and location. It was within walking distance or a short drive to all of my meetings and events. Very private and quiet too, which I appreciated given my long days. I highly recommend this location if you need a place to stay in Olympia.
Karen and Gail were very accommodating and everything went smoothly for my last minute trip. Very fast responses to messages, a note on the door waiting for me and instructions for anything needed were provided in the house. The 50MB Internet connection was fast and reliable. House is old but clean and the location was perfect.
