Private modern "green" studio in recently rehabbed tavern in the best neighborhood in Chicago. Steps to Damen Blue line which takes you to the airport or downtown. Easy access to dozens of restaurants, bars and boutique shopping right out your door.
Private entrance to a recently rehabbed studio apartment, inside a single family home that is LEED certified. What does that mean you ask? Our home has "gone green" and is equipped with solar panels, wind turbines, and a geothermal heating and cooling system. The studio is equipped with a full kitchen with 2 ovens, stove, ice maker, dishwasher, and a small fridge. Private bath with tiled walk in shower and stocked with toiletries (the fun mini ones). Cabinets have all necessary dishes, and cookware. Our favorite amenity is a fridge loaded up with beer, wine and water for your enjoyment!
Guests will only have access to the studio during their stay.
Interaction with Guests
We will be present in the house- but you won't have access to us, and we won't have access to you. We will interact when asked- but the only planned interaction is to exchange keys. We are both born and raised Chicagoans and are happy to provide any advice/recommendations.
We love our neighborhood as we are steps from fabulous food, coffee, booze, and shopping! When you arrive, we will have a list of some of our favorites. We are also a quick train ride downtown and bus ride to the lake front. In addition, there is free street parking in most of the neighborhood.
Other Things to Note
Although we don't allow pets for your stay, we do have dogs in our home as a note for those who are allergic. The dogs do not spend any time in the studio and our house is kept very clean!
No smoking in the studio! No Pets please. Please don't ruin our things! :) We take very good care of our home and our belongings and we expect that you will as well. We are pretty strict on the maximum of 2 guests. Although it is a nice size studio, there is only room for two to sleep. We are open to you having a couple of people over for a beer or dinner if you decide to cook, but no more than that.
Great spot in a great location. Jacqui helped me out with a blender for my stay - clutch for breakfast smoothies:) Bed was very comfortable. bottled water and cold beer in the fridge was a bonus. full kitchen (no freezer) was very functional. I'd stay here again.
The studio was a lovely oasis of calm and comfiness in the midst of Wicker Park! Very easy to walk down to North to catch the bus east bound (2 min) or walk over to Damen Stn to get on the train (7 min). Jacqui was a great host, checking in to make sure I had everything I needed and kindly flexible with the check-in/check-out times. I enjoyed using the kitchen to cook dinner for myself and a friend. Dishwasher was handy for clean up after :)
This was my second stay here, and it was just as amazing the second time. The place is starting to feel like my home away from home when I'm on business in Chicago. I'm looking forward to my next stay!
This was my third time staying in Jaqui's studio. As before, it was clean and cozy -- a perfect place for a short term stay in Chicago!
Staying at Jacqui's place was amazing! The studio is spacious, and everything in it is high quality.
The design of the space, the colors, and decorations work perfectly together to deliver a creative and welcoming environment. I was traveling alone on business, but I was so impressed with the place I facetimed my wife to show her everything from the shower to the dishwasher.
Jacqui also went above and beyond to make my stay as comfortable as possible. She had drinks and food stalked in the fridge and invited me to use whatever I needed. More importantly, she had an impressive supply of toiletries in case I left anything at home. Her collection beat any hotel I've ever been in! This came in handy as I actually forgot shampoo, and my toothpaste didn't make it through the airport!
The week I was in Chicago turned out to be a cold one. It was -5 to -18 degrees with the wind chill every day I was there. Talk about attention to detail, when I first walked into the apartment it was cozy and warm for me. This is a big deal when it is -18 outside!
I loved my experience at Jacqui's place, and next time I'm in Chicago I hope to stay here again!
My daughter and I were seeking a Chicago neighborhood to stay and shop. This was my first experience with airbnb and we were very pleased. The studio apartment was exactly as advertised and more.
We arrived in the evening on New Years Eve finding ourselves unable to unlock the entryway. Fortunately, we found warmth and food accross the street at Club Lucky, a neighborhood Italian restuarant. We soon connected with the host's sister, who instructed us how to get in. The host mentioned she was traveling during our stay and had previously given me her sister's contact information. Good thing!
As for the studio, it had everything we needed. The kitchen was nicely stocked with yogurt, coffee, sodas and beer. The shower was perfect. And we slepted in each morning perhaps due to the comfy bed and quiet neighborhood. We also enjoyed the nice collection of Chicago books. Beautiful and comfortable place.
The location is ideal if you want to stay in the Wicker Park/Bucktown neighborhood (lots of shopping and restuarants) yet walking distance to the train for trips downtown. And bonus, we found plenty of free street parking. I was so pleased I may never stay at a pricey downtown hotel again.
This is a lovely little space, and beautifully warm in the cold Chicago winter. Jacqui was super nice and accommodating -- when I first arrived, the iron was missing (not that I'm the ironing type, really, but I had a holiday party to go to), and she found me one right away when I mentioned it. I was in Chicago by myself for work, and I'm generally the type who likes to be left alone, so the separate entrance and keyless entry were perfect for me. I'll be back!
I am a social worker who lives in Chicago, IL. My partner, who is an event planer, and I just recently bought a LEEDs Certified home in the Bucktown neighborhood and are excited about renting out the studio apartment that is located inside of it!
We are the ultimate party planners and always want to make sure that everyone has a fabulous time! We expect that translates to hosting travelers on airbnb!
We also love to travel and explore new destinations and it is important for us to have a comfortable, clean, and stylish :) place to lay our heads. As hosts we hope to provide that for you as well!
When I travel I like to do a bit of everything! I love to check out local restaurants, the neighborhood dive bar, an independent book shop, and a hike to the beach perhaps!
We are happy to provide you with information on how to do all of those things above (except for the hiking part)! Chicago is lacking in the mountain department.
Please feel free to contact us if you have any other questions about us!
